Now I have to start all over because I want to group by type instead of supplier. I think anyway. I have a list of FO's by supplier but I usually remember where I got a certain oil anyway, so I know where to start digging for a certain scent. Very nice job on your box shelves for samples. I used to have my one oz. samples in a drawer, but now I have so many, I also have a large shoebox full. I didn't show those in the pictures. I do have a box of mostly 2 ounce samples from Millcreek on the bottom shelf in the photo. Yeah! That's what Sarah said too......My hate scents....lol....I can't help it..... Trappeur
I know where you saw it Candybee. Some one a while back put up a post about doing blends and some one put up this wheel and said that if I remember correctly the blends that blend well together are the ones opposite each other. birdcharm
So, I'm looking at this thread and DH walks in ... "shelf envy, I see" he says! lol I feel pretty disorganized now, thanks a lot everyone! (kidding) Some nice shelves and organization, I know it's not easy. One thing I'd like to say is that, for plastic bottles, long term storage is better in glass. A few years ago, we had guests and I made them a candle during their visit. Any liquor bottles I come across during the years has been saved and used for f/o's with a big label on the front saying what it is -- my friend thought it was funny and commented that she hoped those had been saved over a long period of time (yes). Also, cabinets away from daylight is best too. (P.S. Sometimes liquor bottles can be arranged for through other people or businesses.)

Do any of you take forever to decide which FO's you're going to order and keep changing the ones in your cart? I needed more Wintry Candy Apple for a customer order, and naturally I had to order at least 4 more to get the discount per bottle. I am happy with all I chose finally, at least OOB. You might remember I went to NG last summer with a list. I did manage to check some I liked to order later. So I had something to go by. Plus I read reviews. Here is what I wound up ordering: Banana Nut Bread - because it's the monthly special and a best seller. Raspberry Cream Cupcake - Smells good enough to eat. I smell the frosting and everything Australian Bamboo Grass - Oh I like this clean, green scent! Tahitian Vanilla - Interesting, not a regular vanilla that's for sure. I was trying to figure out what it smells like; maybe like brown sugar icing tastes. I like it though. Butt Naked - much better than the Aztec sample. I didn't have this one on my list at all, but it is a best seller and had tons of reviews. The hint of spice in with the tropical notes intrigued me. But I have to think of a name. I kept the name of Monkey Farts, but my wholesale account won't order that one because of the name, so I know she wouldn't go for Butt Naked. I just don't like the name either. I'll think of a tropical name or place. Now I have room in my cabinet to put these in with the other NG fragrance oils. Monkey Burps sounds alot better than the Monkey Farts IMO ,also the Butt Naked reminds me of a summer melons and I call mine Summer Picnic during the summer season.I use Candlesource Butt Naked so strong and performance is great in my wax blend. I think any tropical type name would work for either of these scents as well.

I do the same thing when people post pictures of their shelves of FO's on Facebook. I could post my list of FO's if you really want to know. But it's a pretty long list. I can't seem to want to stop ordering new fragrances whenever I need to restock an old one. I too was doing the zoom in! 😂😂😂. I would love to see a full list of the scents you have Gail. And it would kill 2 birds with one stone..... You can now have a full on written list of the scents you have and can create a list of scents you want while your at it. A win, win! 😜 My FO cabinet looks very similar to yours Gail. Same type of categorization. I organize by vendor as well, for the simple fact that I know what scent I'm looking for and from what company, so it's a lot easier for me to categorize that way. A few years ago, I had a cabinet made by the Amish for my entryway, so I opted to start storing them there. However, that cabinet is now busting st the seams with FO so I am now using my breadbox. 😂 So I would ultimately like mine to be in one spot like yours are. I will have to figure something else out so all mine will fit in one spot. It's just hard when you have so many bottles.
GailC
@Marleigha I actually do have 2 lists of FO's. One is grouped by supplier, and includes all FO's I've bought from them. I cross out the fragrance when it's used and I don't replace it or buy it from another company. Then I made an alphabetical list of fragrances. My FO's are currently in 2 cabinets, but in the same little area in the kitchen. I'm like you; I usually remember where I bought an FO, so I know which vendor's oils to search through. If I do forget where I bought one, I can look at my vendor list. If you really want to see my list I can show you! Doesn't include 1 or 2 ounce sample bottles. I will update it with the one new FO I should be getting today. I'm proud of myself for limiting my selection to just one when I was ordering wax and wicks. I doubt you'll want to read through it all though. Marleigha
@GailC I absolutely loved reading the scents you have! Now do you also have a list that includes what company each is from? I made a list of all of mine when I went to reorganize my cabinet and have tried to keep up on it and write down each new FO I add when an order comes in. I have one full caninet and have started utilizing my bread box of all things for my 4 oz and 1 oz bottles. The cabinet I had made houses all my 16 oz bottles like the one cabinet pic you took does. I will have to take a picture. I've not uploaded a picture here before... 😬 Looks like I just click the paper clip and upload it from my phone is that right? Trappeur
Damn Gail! You really have it all together! That's disgusting! That really puts me to shame that's for sure. I at one time used to group by supplier but with all the samples I order and misc oils it got so out of hand with me and I could never find what I was looking for so then I would go and order a scent I thought I didn't have but only to find by accident some other day and see I already had it, so that system had to go for me. Even the colored fragrance wheel would not work for me as as some of the headings I would never even think of some oils catagorized like the wheel says. I go by what my "simple" brain thinks....I never think of the word spices, but I will think of bakery and to me spices only go into the bakery section so I have a bakery section. And so many oils can fit into different catagories like for example florals can fit in clean, botanical or fresh but my brain just says florals so any flower scent is a floral. Now pumpkin really should fit into my bakery section, but pumpkin and anything that has pumpkin in goes into my pumpkin section because I have sooooo many pumpkins. My Vanilla section consists of buttercreams, sugar cookies, shortbreads and vanilla smoothies because to me they all smell in the vanilla division....lol...Now marshmallows should fall in the vanilla catagory, but since I have every marshmallow out there and still trying to this day to find the ultimate marshmallow, it now has it's own catagory. My "hate section of oils" is really anything clean and spaish but I just had to keep a spaish section because I have a store that caters to only those scents so I have to make them for her. But lots of them I really gag on and they go in my hate section but I still keep them because one day I know I'm going to be asked for one of my hate oils so I just better hang on to them I think in my brain. Now any designer dupe fragrance oils that I'm always reading up on that I don't order really turns my stomach. To me every designer scent I've smelled in all honesty they all smell the exact same to me each and every one of them. They smell like cheap trashy whore scents (all of them). Whether it's manish or designerish to me those 2 smell the same. You wouldn't want me to judge in this catagory that's for sure. There is no rhyme or reason on many things why I do things the way I do....I just do it ...... GailC
@Trappeur, you tickle me to death girl! "cheap trashy whore scents." Lovely Maybe that's why I haven't brought myself to make many of my designer aka trashy scents. I do seem to recall that Forever Red was pretty popular back when I made it a couple of years ago. And there is a rhyme and reason why you group FO's the way you do. Because it makes sense to your brain! I like clean scents, so they wouldn't go in scents I hate section. Sandalwood, Patchouli, Cashmere Glow, and Guardian Angel so far are the scents I hate....oh and let us not forget NG's Fresh Brewed Coffee. Ewwwwww. One of my good customers said her son loves Nag Champa...oh but I don't want to even go there. I can't stand any incense smells. In the 'scents I could live without' section would be florals. Moonlight Tuberose is sickening sweet to me. Lilac is OK. But I don't care for Gardenia, Honeysuckle or Lily of the Valley. However, I have one customer who says my Lily of the Valley candles are the best candles she's ever had. And another only wants Gardenia. Different strokes and all that. I do like Freesia. I need to make some of those. I don't have a list of samples. That would be another long list!

Trappeur LMBO , Trapp your so hilarious! I do make many Bath & Body Works scents .They are huge sellers for me . I have certainly poured some stinky hoe smelling scents upon request lol... I was motivated by Gail's post a while back to organize my oils . I have a large cabinet to store them in ,just like keeping them in arms reach ,so I have a mess to look at most of the time . I am not a huge floral fan ,however I do love to blend some florals with good scents. I have many blends that actually smell pretty good. Gardenia/Peach Magnolia/Lemon Lavender/Pink Sugar Rose/Powder Lilac/ Powder Lilac/Lemon Gardenia/Coconut. Lavender/Apricot. Rose/Apricot And sooooo many more .It takes the edge off florals and gives the scents a whole new twist.I have a scent I call Twisted Lavender lol... I just love to blend oils .I will admit I love the smell of Hydrangeas . I think because to me that is the most beautiful flower bloom ever .I buy one every year with no luck of growing my own . I really admire you & Gail's candle making .I only have made a few & my patience run thin.I love making wax melts .I would love some tips from the both of you eventually on candle making .I think your candles are awesome ,love , love, love your labels as well. Vanilla Bean WSP Well Done Gail!!! What a list .Lol I don't feel like I have to many oils now ,after seeing your list.I received my CMS order today .I love OOB Fruity Punch ,Juicy Watermelon, Chocolate covered Cherry,Rainbow ,Aloe Agave, Dancing Waters ,Apple Mandarin,Cool coconut Coolada, Black Cherry Merlot. I am not sure how well these will do in the wax .Not to impressed OOB with Secret Waterfall, Dreamy Summer Nights, Neverland, Absinthe, Carnation,Paradise Punch. The remainder of my order that smells Super strong & may turn out well are Bird of Paradise Creamy, Zen Garden, Blackberry Amber , Mid summer Night ,not a fan of these however I get request for many of these scents. I chose Cinnamon Sugar for the free one ,smells week to my nose .I think I can add my Cinnamon Stix to this one & use it for a blender scent .I did order Apricot also for blending .I have used this one before & love it .I usually get my Hydrangea from WSP & decided to try CMS sample .I will have to pour this one for results ,oob does not smell like Hydrangea .WSP Hydrangea is strong & spot on to the real flower. Where do you get your Freesia? I will keep in touch with my results on the ones I received. I love your organization results 😀
Trappeur
Hey Kat! I'll tell you what .......I'm not a floral person per say but I do love flowers as when spring breaks I can't wait to get down to my shack and start working in all my hostas and floral spreads I've created down there and there is just nothing so beautiful as smelling the fresh clean air in the country of wildflowers and flowers coming into bloom. I can make florals no problem and actually really do like them but when I burn the floral candles I can't burn them for too long as theyare usually too strong and can give me a noxious headache. I love honeysuckle. I can't stand rose. And my ultimate one of my most favorite candle scents is Rice Flower and Shea. If you are into florals and have never smelled this scent, you need to get it. It is stunningly gorgeous quite simply said. Now I could smell that all day long. Matter of fact I have none but 2 1ounce samples from Bittercreek. But Kat your blends sound so very beautiful! I'm writing them down and eventually start ordering some of these. I'll probably be picking your brain for your "secret" sources! hee hee hee.......What I love to blend with florals is vanilla voodoo. Vanilla just goes with anything. Gail, oh my gosh all those catagories you have listed I'm just stunned at seeing! I always thought Belinda was the queen of stashes of oils with them stuffed everywhere under her bed, shoeboxes and other places she has mentioned. She probably has them shoved in with her toilet papers or anywhere she can find a spot! lol...... She is just a cutie patootie I swear that girl.....But Gail I think you take the cake and have over run Belinda with your stashes! hee hee hee I think you deserve the name "fo ho queen of Craftserver! But then who knows....Belinda might have more than what she thinks she has if she has forgotten any places she has them stashed away in....lol... I'm sorry Belinda. Here I am talking about you! But it's all good...you know that....I especially love Gail that you actually wrote down the names of people you have given oils to....Golly bum! Oh yeah, what do the x's mean on your list? Didn't you send me some oils? Cause I didn't see my name on your list. Or maybe it was Moonstar as she has sent me a lot of oils...And then again it might have been Goldie...Oh, getting old is taking a toll on me I can't remember!
