  1. I know what you mean ! Since moving back down here, I wish I had a buck for every time in the past five months I've been asked to make something with the AU or UA crap on them. I keep telling them I can't ! Get this ! I know one girl that gets away with doing blankets with the official cloth you buy at WM for those teams, and she quilts them... she takes DONATIONS for each blanket instead of selling them. She is gonna get her tail busted one day ! UA especially doesn't go for that. They prosecuted this one old man who'd been taking snapshots of the games since before Bear was even there, and then blowing them up and selling them... UA sued that old man !
  2. rct, I can understand your feelings on those. A lot of people have that same feeling about not only the bears, but also the tps. I found out marketing them to people who worked in office's, day cares, nursing homes ( or having someone in nursing homes cause you know no matter how much they clean, there's always that "smell" around ), dorms, teachers, etc places they can't burn or even spray things, I figured out real fast that they might be silly, but I sho was making a bunch of money with those silly ole thangs LMAO !!!
  3. I like turtles................. ( and don't even get me started on menohell, try experiencing BOTH at the SAME time cause I'm in the middle of them )
  4. Can't really add anything that everyone else didn't cover already. Just make sure you get your wax hot enough in the original container that when you put it in your pour pot to mix the fo in, that it doesn't drop the temp too fast too soon. Bakery scents for me are a booger sometimes, to mix ( stir stir stir stir , pant pant , stir stir stir stir )
  5. I know I probably shouldn't even say anything in this thread since I don't do this.. but I do read a ton about making different types of candles and I thought hard about doing mottled ones ( a long time ago ) I was just wondering, and I know this might sound silly and I might not have a clue, but I remember reading quite a few times on the BC board, that some of the ladies who weren't getting a good , or any mottle, needed to cool them even slower than they were doing and that the air temp in their room had screwed things up. Could you possibly put them in an insulated container like an ice chest, or cover them with a box and some towels? Sorry if I offend anyone but putting my two cents in, it was just something I remember reading a bunch .
  6. Who's actually put it IN wax ( the one from Aztec ) ? (( paraffin )) I've thought about adding it to my " gotta get when I restock" list, but I'd loving hearing actual test results Thanks !
  7. If they don't out right ask, I wouldn't worry about it. If they do have the balls to flat out ask you why you haven't bought anything at their booth, just tell them there's nothing there that you're interested in. It's not a lie, you're just not going into WHY you aren't interested LOL. I do understand the frustration of "going by the rules" when it doesn't seem anyone else is.
  8. I use it, love it and it's one of my best sellers all year long . I use it at 1:1 with 4794
  9. Darbla, I can only speak for myself and for the recipe I used ( prarieannie's gm mp in the mp recipe thread) I made some, back in Feb. , wrapped it in Wal Mart professional type saran wrap, nothing else. It's sitting now, and has been, on an open shelf, since the day I made it and wrapped it. I opened a bar about a week ago to start using, and it is even better lather wise and scent wise as it was the day I made it. I have no scent loss, no moisture problems. Between the recipe, and the wrap, if it can handle the crazy humidity and temps of Tn and south Alabama ( we had the windows and doors open most of the summer so it was NOT in a controlled environment) I'd be willing to say that, at least in my case, all's good!
  10. University of Kent at Canterbury. She just told me two days ago they just put the money down on a row house in Favorsham so she'll be 10 miles from school instead of being in Maidstone and 30 some odd miles. I'm proud of her, but this just makes it all the more real that my baby isn't coming back to the US to stay LOL Sorry for the hijack !!! Back to your regularly scheduled topic heheheh !
  11. Scentsy has given us a lot of headaches because of their "marketing strategies " ( read : pushy , obnoxious, down right mean in some cases, sales reps) They've spent millions marketing a rather inferior product IMO with some really cute warmers . I've often wondered how much WE irk THEM by selling much better products, and much lower prices LOL
  12. thanks Chandler because I don't see where it says UK and I was trippin out ! ( which part of the UK are you in ? )
  13. Umm I have no clue because I have never even heard of a wax that you can add fo to at that low of a temp. I have to add different ones of mine, anywhere from 180 to 150. Plus, it will depend on what wax you are using, and which FO . Some just refuse to play well with each other.
  14. Joannec, some, not all but some, bakery scents are boogers. From my testing, I've found that quite a few have to be added about 5 degrees hotter than most of my other scents, and they have to be seriously stirred for about 2 minutes or so , to incorp in the wax. It seems they are "heavier" in more ways than one.
  15. I read the question, and the first thing that came to my mind was " Amish Harvest" which to me is saying a LOT , considering I've never used it, but from the description from the website, and everyone's glowing reviews, it seems like one that would be strong enough to carry the scent well, and draw people into the booth. Even though most of the ones you carry are baby themed, you gotta get them to the booth to get them to buy, and right now, people are looking for that homey, spicy, autumn/Christmas scent!
  16. Same thing here. Candle Nose strikes again.
  17. Jack, to answer your question in my usual southern Bama way .. Well HELL NAW ! LOL I'm curious. Am I the only one that does NOT want to get over 12 hours out of a single cube from a clam ? I mean , I want them to enjoy it, I want it to last a while, but come on !!!!!! I WANNA MAKE MONEY TOO !!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't live in an area where you can get 5 bucks a clam and can still sell enough that if my customer doesn't come back for two months or so to reorder, that it doesn't effect ( affect?) me . I'd rather they enjoy it some, and move on, and buy more !
  18. I have no clue because while I've heard all the arguments from both sides, I've never used soy.. but IF I did, and was in the position you are in , I'd just say : My customers asked for it ( or preferred it ) and I wanted to give them what they wanted That way, you don't have to go into a long drawn out explanation that they probably wouldn't understand or believe anyway. Not saying people are dumb, but if they want you to get technical you could, but do you honestly want to have to run through that laundry list of reasons every single time?
  19. Agreed! I can make two melts out of the same clam, made out of the same batch, last anywhere from 8 to 14 hours depending on what I put it in ( warmer type, voltage/tea light) , and what FO it is for example.
  20. Interesting idea, thanks for sharing. I just burn CS Peppermint Eucalyptus when I'm stuffed up. That stuff will unclog anything in a flash! lol Or, when I ran out, I put one melt of BCN's Peppermint 2077 I think it is, and one of their Eucalyptus in a warmer.
  21. Take a little of everything and a ton of business cards and brochures if you have them. What might not sell one day ( or one show ) you might sell out of next time. When I did my first shows, I took things I swore up and down would sell........... not so much.. But the things I didn't think would move, did. Middle of that season.. it was the total reverse! Hauling a lot of product is a pain, but depending on how many people will be going through the market/fair/show, it might be worth it to take more than you think you'll ever need. It's a pain to load it all back up, but it's better than running out. I've had people come up to me wanting something they'd seen 8 or 10 people walking around with, but unfortunately I'd sold out.. and missed the sale
  22. Don't laugh, this question, albeit silly sounding, is in reference to all the posts on this thread concerning the heat of the wax. Question... Does the wax in a metal tea light oil warmer/melt burner, get hotter since it is in metal... than the wax that is adjacent to a flame in a candle that is use for massage candles... even though the saucer that the melt is in, is 3 inches from the tip of the flame?
  23. they are stunning and have me scratching my head trying to figure out how the heck you did that first one especially !
