How was your Market, Shows or Events this weekend?
Vicky_CO replied to Vicky_CO's topic in Business Side of Things
I hope you are going to share pictures of that. That sounds really cool. -
I just set up an excel work sheet and had them listed in categories by supplier. When I got a new oil in it was added to that suppliers section I would then add notes on testing with the final note being whether I added it to my line or not. I left it even if I did not add it so I would not accidently rebuy a FO that did not work.

How was yours I would love to hear about it. We had Mike the Headless chicken here. I do not do it as a crafter anymore but I do stop by as a customer. The crowd here seemed really good but the vendor quality was not good for this event. I was supper disappointed. Almost no hand crafted at all mostly MLM or direct sales people. There was a few good ones but they seem to get lost among the manufactured stuff. I take heart the Lavender Fest is just around the corner and the vendor quality is usually really good at that one.

Try moving your burner to a different part of your house. Air flow with burners makes a big difference in how fast and how far anything throws. High traffic areas can actually move the scent away from the burner to fast and until the scent has built up you will not smell it as well. They same can be said for a room that sees little or no traffic you will not smell it till it has built up enough to smell unless you are standing right over it. Your customers only ask that they throw well in a reasonable amount of time and a good throw at an hour is a reasonable time.

Holiday Candles, what do you do?
Vicky_CO replied to kandlekrazy's topic in General Candle Making Discussions
I am like Candy I just rename and label them. They are usually year round sellers any way. -
does adding color affect wicking?
Vicky_CO replied to Siren12's topic in General Candle Making Discussions
The only colors I found that effected my burn was white and black. White because of the kind of pigment they use to create it is like a chalky substance and black for the sheer amount you have to use to create a true black. -
If you are looking for a faster melt time you might look to votive blend over pillar blends.

Thank you I will put you in for it.

Too Large A Flame?
Vicky_CO replied to jackbenimble's topic in Vegetable Wax & Beeswax Candle Making
With a 1/4" trim I would say you are just a bit too big but you are almost there. For me and how I like my burns is I want that melt pool at about 2 1/2 hours to 3 hours on the first burn.- 18 replies

Hi guys we are starting a buy for the soap of the month. Here is how it will work that months soap will be up for sale if the soaper doing has the soap to spare. They may not have it available for all kinds of reasons. If they do I will be posting a thread like this one. You need to contact the soaper for that month to order. This thread will close at the end of the month or when the soap is sold out which ever comes first. Candybee June SOTM is $5 plus shipping per bar. She has 17 bars available. She is use Square as her payment method. Please leave a review for the soap in the SOTM thread

Do wax melts lose their scent over time?
Vicky_CO replied to ThisLittleLightOfMine's topic in Wickless
My experience they get stronger over time. -
Thank you. They are not stones but polymer clay cabochons. I make the cabochons with the polymer clay in different colors to get a look I want. Polymer clay is it own really neat medium

Getting Licensed to sell and file taxes
Vicky_CO replied to Helix's topic in Business Side of Things
What Goldie said. Every area is different my state just requires a sales tax license but my little town requires a business license also. The town next to me only requires the state sales tax license. Shows and events where you sell will also have info if you need more in certain areas. Here if you only sell at shows or events you do not need a regular sales tax license you need a special event sales tax license but if you sell outside the events and show you have to have a regular sales tax license also. You really need to contact the state, county and town you live in to know what is required for you. -
Help! Wick Pins and Cooling
Vicky_CO replied to SaraJane86's topic in General Candle Making Discussions
Wick pins and soy are not a great mix but it can be done. I use to pop my votive out of the mold slightly heat the bottom of the pin and turn over and tap the top on a hard surface. They usually pop right off. Really self centering wicks are easier.
