  1. I had to think about that I didn't call it that but I added 10% but I called it unexpected overhead. That was for any unplanned expenses.
  2. It was kept open as long as possible and then it crashed agian and crashed hard it was not salvageable. The original board was not stable by any means that was what forced us to move the first time. I miss going there and searching also it had some great info.
  3. I will be honest I do not know how this will work with PVC but I use this with my big stainless steel molds. http://www.peakcandle.com/products/Silicone-Spray-Lubricant__A1018.aspx MY DH made me 4 very large mold out of stainless steel years ago. The does try to stick in them.
  4. Thank you That is a rose. I made a rose cane they made beads from it. When I elongated my bead it stretched the rose out a bit. The black and purple/pink were also roses but I stretched them further.
  5. I have done 2 of the prong set ones they were fun. That is what is nice about copper it is very easy to come by. Plus putting a patina to it gives it a rich warm color.
  6. This is one of my Favorite YouTube channel for wire https://www.youtube.com/user/CSLdesigns I like these too https://www.youtube.com/user/Jocelwynn/videos https://www.youtube.com/user/Oxana124 https://www.youtube.com/user/GoArtYourself/feed
  7. Oh girl that is a gorgeous stone. I would consider Viking netting bezel with a 2 or 3 wired weaved bail. Another would I would really consider is capturing in in the chevron weave. here is a pic of the weave http://magazin-rukodel.ru/?p=4006 do some decorative wire swirls on the back to secure the stone, double snake weave bail. I would do it in copper or another colored wire I think silver or gold would be a bad choice here.
  8. I am actually taking a break this weekend and going to the Honeybee festival then grabbing the grand kids and going to go play in the desert. We may also go out shooting if the wind is not blowing.
  9. If you have a full melt pool in 20 minutes you have a serious over wicking issue. You should not reach a full melt pool on the first burn until closer to 2 to 3 hours. Second burn will reach full melt pool faster but not much. Right now you are looking at a dangerously hot jar as you get closer to the bottom. Not only that you wax is burning up faster that it should and you FO is burning off at an accelerated rate.
  10. There are a few of us that have a blog if you look in off topic I have a thread started there that you can add your blog to for everyone to enjoy. I wish more folks would add their blog I would sign up for updates and share a few things here and there to help folks out. I write about crafts mostly but I have been known to write about my dog. I do shop tours every now and then. I would love to do more of those but I found store owners are not really on board with that one go figure.
  11. Thank you so Much Chefmom. All I can say is WOW
  12. This thread pretty much explains it I think. I would love for you to sign up. December is available and also March of 2017 we do want this to a be an unending thing.
  13. Great blog I signed up hopefully I get email notifications. I love your stuff.
  14. Less that 24 hours and you will all get to see it. It is good trust me on that one.
  15. You are welcome I wish I could say this was all my work but honestly a few years back we came up with this right here on this board a lot of people contributed to it.
  16. Coconut wax is good and bad most people use it to blend with soy or paraffin. On it own it hard to burn and does not throw well. I also know a lot of the lotion candles used coconut wax. I would keep it as an additive for later when you start blending your own mix.
  17. Hey Rami this is my best advice. Slow down I know you want to rush everything. Candle making is exciting. If you rush to fast you end up wasting time and money. A lot of us have done that. We can not tell what kind of wax you have with out manufacture name and some possible number or a name of the wax. Honestly you may never know what kind it is so it is pointless to test with it. If you are just making candles for your self that would be fine but you want to turn thins in to a business and you need to know exactly what you are working with so you can repeat your results. Go to Peak Candle supply, Candle Science or Bitter Creek and get a kit. The kit will have exactly what kind of wax is in it. Exactly what kind of wick and FO. So you will be able to repeat your candle. That will also give you everything you need to make a successful candle Successful candle making is part science, part art and part experience.
  18. No Rami actually they don't the average person just likes a candle because it smells good. The candle maker decides on wax based on what they are looking for in a candle then makes the best candle they can and them markets it if they chose to sell a lot of candle makers never sell they just prefer to make for family and friends.
  19. Hi Rami welcome to the board. This is a great place to learn your new craft.
  20. I have two different tester sheets the first is for my most trusted testers Name of tester, Date candle given for testing: Date tested: Size of candle: What type of container? Room it will be tested in? Is it the right size room for testing this size candle? Recommend ______ size room for this test. Approx size of room? Small Medium Large How high are the ceilings? Standard, High, Cathedral ceilings Is the candle appealing to look at? Cold throw: Heavy Medium Light Comments on cold throw: Is the wick centered?_____ Time test started_______ How long after lighting did you notice the hot throw? How close were you to the candle? Does the scent fill the room of testing? Does the scent travel into other rooms? How soon did it greet you in other rooms? Full melt pool was achieved in______ hours. Was not achieved_________ Explain. Did the wick mushroom on the first burn? Second burn? Comments after three to five hour burn time. No scent throw Hang up of wax on side of container, Full melt pool never reached, Tunneling Off center wick Soot Container is very hot. Flame drowned Flame too large Flame too small The second one is for after I pretty much have everything set just needing a final test. Final tester! Hours of first burn________ second burn__________ Was this candle Marathon burned? Results? Did other people comment on the candle? Date test was completed? Grade candle on scent throw: Cold_______ Hot______ Grade candle scent: Loved, Okay, Didn't like, hated! Final comments for this candle?
  21. I pour around 175 you do want your wax to stay liquid long enough for the air to rise to the surface, votive are not like pillar where you can pock relief holes.
  22. Hiring is hard for any business. What kind of employee are you looking for help in your shop, sales rep, ect... Staffing service would be good if you are looking for employees like help in you shop, delivery people things like that. Sales reps are a lot harder most good sales rep will not take on small companies but a few will be careful here as most sales people talk a good talk so have an iron clad contract ready. Now if you are looking to turn you company in to a multi level marketing. I would talk to a good marketing group to get all you ducks in a row.
  23. Hi Gena Welcome to the board
  24. It sounds like there might be some air pockets in some of them.
