  1. I can give a little help here okay make up a number. Example 98m7n5y9n1m5n8c24n8y25 That would be your base code now if you want to have a voucher that expires 09/30/05. What you want for your month and year would be 10/05 that would make it expire on the last day of September. Now the issue number is the numbers you put in and even if you have issues 100's you need to do it like this 0150 So your voucher would look like this with index of 3 I have 3 type of vouchers on mine 9817050911055832408525 Now you have to keep all the same number exept the MM/YY/C/NNNN those change as you issue vouchers The only thing bad about this type of voucher is that you can not give everyone a differant issue number they would be nightmare to keep track of but at the same time these would be great for online parties as you could issue each host a differant number and then when that number was applied to a party you would know just by the number which host that order belonged to. I realy hope I have not confused you more.
  2. No that is not what is happening. I thought of that and ruled it out as the things that end up happening will be the cauliflower effect, all the sudden the candle will burn to hot things like. The things I have experienced ice crystal don't account for if all the sudden it didn't burn or just burned poorly I would have said moisture in the candle. So I did some experimenting and in all most all the candles I made the ones that got frozen had some kind of effect and didn't burn the same as the ones that where in a controled conditions. The heat will effect it also just not with as dramatic results.
  3. If you have electricity you can get electric burns and still make candles.
  4. Okay curing I know all the arguements. But here are some intersting things to think about. Paraffin is a stable substance so anything you add to it is going to remain the same with the exception of fading colors. Soy on the other hand is not you can do to things to make it more stable but you can never totally stablize it. If it was stable it would not do all the weird thing it does like grow(had more than one candle do that) If it soy candle get frozen it does weird things to the burn(sometimes nothing goes wrong others) Yes I know that by have 2 candle from the same batch one get frozen and one not and the frozen one burn weird and the one that remain at room temp. burn perfectly fine. So with knowing that soy does change does it make sense that it is not going to effect the scent throw? Now here is my experience soy needs to cure and the longer you cure the better the scent throw. I burned a candle that for some reason this candle would not sell no one wanted it sold all the rest of the batch but that one. So I restocked and right after I made more (so yes I had candle nose from that scent) I burned it. It drove me out of my house my hubby was screaming for me to please put it out it was to strong. I agreed with him. Okay I will admit that candle was over a year old.
  5. 6. First thing first if you are getting in to this with the main reason that you think it is cheaper to make them then buying them you are in for a very large surprize. Candlemaking is one of the most expensive hobbies I have ever done. $300 is just a drop in the bucket to what most of us spend on this hobby in a year. Now after that if you are still interest I suggesyt a good candle kit to start with Peak candle supplies www.peakcandle.com has some very good starter kits and some wonderful books that will get you started.
  7. hopefully we will have an archived record of the old post up soon. It still really up in the air when or how much was saved.
  8. That might work after you aready have the milky effect I do know it hard to keep from getting them too yellow. But gel no matter what unless you get it to cloud with another wax will always just be clearno matter what color you use.
  9. My direct heat melter is a little more advanced and it cost me less than $1000 and that included shipping to me it has a digital temp control and it pretty acurate and no I don't leave mine on unless I am there during the day I keep about 50 lb of wax melted all day then shut it off at night. It is so well insulated that it only takes about an hour the next day to remelt the wax..
  10. It is true the more dye you use the greater chances of frosting. My customer don't mind a little bit of frosting. I personaly think the FO cause more frosting than dye ever would.
  11. Sorry Lin I was not clear but yes I add a little Yellow die to get the ezact color I want.
  12. I have both I prefer my direct heat one best. I have a 175lb direct heat and a 200lb water jacket. The direct heat will melt you wax in half the time because you are not having to heat the addition water. Mine direct heat melter is temp controlled I just set the temp and it heat to that temp and stay there. the water jacket is not really you can regulate the water temp to a point but you wax temp and the water temp will not be the same unless both the water level and wax level are the same in the melter.
  13. Yea here are few that I use http://www.silkytyme.com/ http://www.rusticescentuals.com/index.html http://www.biomax1.com/
  14. I prefer container wax as it will have closer to the same burn qualities as gel. I uaually use around 5% but I have used as little as 1% depending on how cloudy(milky) I want the gel to look. Also make sure your candle is totally cool like the next day to determine if you need to go up or down in you contianer wax usage as the gel will keep regular wax in a liquid form a lot longer.
  15. All the side bar stuff is still accessable to every one here http://www.candletech.com/
  16. I fixed it so both of your pictures show.
  17. I figured it out if you want your picture to show you have to add 1 a reply
  18. What I do is as add a little bit a regular wax to the gel to give it that milky look.
  19. That is most likely not helping your bubble problem. You realy do need to have the gel totally melted before you pour it.
  20. Welcome and please post away.
