  1. I could never get my M&P to look so pretty. Those should do very well for you!
  2. Have you looked at the Neon Dye Powder from the Candlemaker's Store? Would probably be a bit messy and not sure if it will give you the colors you are looking for.
  3. I don't have TKB's but I do have Conservatorie's Shimmering Pearl, Sparkling Pearl and Shimmer White. Of the three, I like Shimmering Pearl the best. I can get a very pretty, bright white with a non-discoloring FO. Have to use a little more for those that lightly discolor. Still doesn't work the best if there is quite a bit of discoloration. I used it in a soap using AH Candy Cane and the white is now a nice muddy taupe. The Sparkling Pearl mica has quite a bit of sparkle and tends toward that TD crackle you sometimes get. Shimmer white looks like a ground up piece of chalk. It does alright but I will grab the Shimmering Pearl.
  4. Love that little scale. I have it on my Christmas Wish List for another.
  5. I failed miserably at pillars. Actually probably didn't have the patience. Beautiful candles and colors. Dibbs on the Red Hots!
  6. Not sure where Suzy got hers, but they carry them at Webstaurant or Wasserstrom. They are the ones from Ellipso, I believe. http://www.webstaurantstore.com/newspring-e1001-ellipso-1-oz-clear-oval-plastic-souffle-cup-1000-case/128E1001%20%20%20%201M.html eta: I seem to remember that the 1oz clear may no longer be made. Black might be the only color available. They do have a combo box that has both the cups and the lids. They also go up to sizes like 3 or 4 ounces and think those are available in clear.
  7. It's also too translucent for freezer paper, at least what I have. You can't see through that at all. Looks more like my parchment paper.
  8. Oh, I hope it turns out for you. The soap is so pretty. I made a Chai Tea soap with Chai as the water portion. Dried the tea leaves and ground them. Guess I didn't get them ground fine enough because it was pretty scratchy. I was pretty disappointed.
  9. Add Eden Botanicals to that list. They have an excellent selection of EOs, Absolutes and CO2 oils. For some really unusual items look at White Lotus Aromatics. They have some truly precious oils and other items. I think all of them are perfume grade. Probably too expensive for soap or candles.
  10. Very pretty! What did you use for the speckles? Those turned out really nice.
  11. IMHO, Sweetcakes has the best dupe. I bought a bar from a soaper here that uses the FO and it was dead-on for my perfume. But, it is also very expensive. I think it would be too expensive for candles. Check out Interlude from Aroma Haven. It's also a dupe and very close. Does well in candles and soap and half the cost of Sweetcakes. I've tried a couple of others, although I can't remember now off the top of my head, but thought AH was the best of the rest.
  12. Very pretty!! I love those rainbow micas. I hope the new B&B/Soap safe micas are just as good. Have you seen the new micas AH/RE is carrying? Nice selection.
  13. Gorgeous candles and colors. Great job!!
  14. Beautiful Candybee!! How do you like the Oakmoss and Amber in soap? Did you cut down the percentage? Seems like a very strong fragrance.
  15. Chandler is right on for Patchouli and Dragon's Blood. Aroma Haven now carries Tradewinds Hawaiian Sandalwood. Excellent fragrance. They also have an Oud Wood and a Patchouli Oud Wood. I have a sample of the later and it is very nice OOB. Have not had a chance to test it yet. eta: Didn't see Candybee's post before I started answering. Moonlake Musk is fantastic. Beautiful in candles and incense. It has Musks, Patchouli EO as well as other blenders. This should definitely be considered.
  16. I love making CP soap. It was actually Candybee that gave me the final push to try. She started and posted her wonderful early works and I finally took the plunge. Clueless, just take the safety precautions and you will be fine. And, have fun!! Making soap can be very addictive
  17. And, this is probably why I didn't do very well in chemistry
  18. btw, I would recommend printing out the MSDS for lye and have it hanging in your work area. Or, at least easily accessible.
  19. I agree with everything that Candybee said with one exception. Please don't use vinegar to neutralize lye on your skin. That is a common misconception because vinegar is an alkali and will neutralize lye since it's an acid. It does but also causes a chemical reaction that generates heat. A lot of it. The only thing you should use is just water. I know Soapalooza has some controversy but she has a very good blog article about this subject. Including a link to the MSDS First Aid Section and bit about the actual chemical reaction that occurs. I can't validate the chemical compounds provided but the MSDS should be accurate for a 50% solution. I just don't anyone to get a serious burn, or make it worse, by using vinegar. http://www.soapalooza.com/blog/2013/06/how-do-you-clean-up-a-lye-spill/
  20. That is why I prefer CP soap. I have a much easier time with that than M&P. But, you can do some really cool and creative things with M&P. I, sadly, do not have the talent. Kelly, the soaps turned out wonderfully and are very unique.
  21. Very pretty!! DH's family would LOVE the colors. They are purple-holics.
