I'm a young mommy who loves to make things! I'm currently staying home mama.
I have always had a soft spot for candles and anything that smells yummy!! So here I am. I'm trying to learn the ropes and make my own.

  1. Well, I have great news!! I am going to make SOAP!!! I didn't get my yes the way I had hoped. But, I wasn't taking NO for an answer either way. He did say I must make my Lye mixture outdoors though. But, I will take it! I am one happy "soon to be" soap maker! If he would have continued to tell me NO...I was going to make soap no matter. Even if it meant standing outdoors for the whole process
  2. I just don't know what to think over this. I mean, normally my husband is very accepting of things I want to try and is almost always supportive. I can't help but feel like a child in this situation having been told NO. I agree, I am a big girl and if I want to try something, one way or another I am going to. It's not like I'm trying to make bombs or something in our home. He is being completely unreasonable. He told me that I will not be bringing lye into his house. Well news flash buddy, it's my home too. There's just no way in this world he would stand for me telling him NO. I'm going to sit him down one more time and try to figure out what this is all about. If nothing else I suppose he can't say anything if I stand outside in the 40degree weather to make soap. Unbelievable! I haven't considered buying shreds or base as I really want to do it from scratch. But I may look into it as an option. I just don't want him to have the satisfaction of winning in this case.
  3. As much as I have read, researched and watched videos I just know this is something I will love. The whole process fascinates me so much! I would love to take a class but I don't think I have seen anything like that around here in my area.
  4. I feel like purchasing my supply and just waiting til he is gone off to work to make my first batch. What can he say if he isn't here? Unfortunately I don't have any friends that are interested in soap making. I really wish I did! I just can't grasp why this is such an issue for him. I make candles and that has it's very own dangers. As does many other things as some posters have mentioned.
  5. I'm so frustrated I can hardly type! I have gone over everything with him time and time again. And tried watching videos with him and told him I would include him in every step. He flat out tells me NO. He says he won't have that stuff in his home. I feel like I'm a loss. This is something I'm dying to learn and he won't let me. I see CP as an art. It's beautiful and I'm drawn to it. And he is stealing that from me. I haven't a clue what else to do. He actually gets mad at me when I bring I up. What in the world????
  6. Hi ladies. My husband is totally against me making CP soap. It's because of the lye. He thinks it's dangerous and that something bad will happen. I assure him that people make these soaps all the time and that as long as I follow precaution I will be okay. I really really want to learn how to do CP soap. Like sooo soo bad! Right now I'm only doing M&P and I make candles etc. How in the world do I convince him to let me learn CP?
  7. My DH bought me a display board. You know, just a trifold board that I can add stuff to. It's cardboard. What in the world should I put on it?? I want to use it. Just haven't a clue what for. I have a show Saturday! Should I just put info about soy wax on there, or maybe my popular scents? Clueless LOL
  8. Okay, well all this has been insanely rushed!! I just went out and bought 7yards of crushed black velvet. I haven't even tried it out yet. I feel like II have just ran out of time. I'm so nervous it's not even funny. I just noticed that Pink Zebra and Scentsy will be there too EEk!!! I can't compete with that lol. I will be sure and take photos of everything tomorrow after I get it all set up. I will try the velvet out in a bit and see how it looks. Fingers crosses. And wish me luck. I sure do need it!
  9. lol wouldn't that be nice to have an empty table. I'm sure I won't have to worry about that either. Especially since this is my first show and I haven't a clue what I'm doing lol. Can anyone tell me how fabric I need?
  10. Luckily my banner does have the metal grommets. I would never have thought to use safety pins to hang it on the front. Will that not put too much weight on the cloth? I mean, I know there will be product on the tables but it won't pull too bad?
  11. Hello everyone. I have a Jamboree event Saturday. I just got my banner in yesterday. This is my first time ever running a booth so I truly haven't a clue what I'm doing. How do I hang my banner?? Is there a way to attach it to my table or do I hang it at the back of my booth? its 5ft long and 2ft tall. Another question, I still need to purchase my linen for my table coverings. I want black and hot pink overlays. I figured I would just go buy my fabric at Joanns. I will be using 6ft long tables. The folding kind you can buy at walmart with the handles. How much fabric do I need? I know there's a section on craft fair tips, it's a great thread!! I read every post. But I wish we could have a section dedicated to craft fairs/vendor booths!
  12. She ordered from your shop!! And then stole your work!! Omgness you are handling this much better than I would be. I would be furious! I too, spent hours and hours designing my labels and making them just the way I want. Something different from anyone else. And I would freak out if a someone bought from my shop and then stole my designs!! Suzy, I'm so sorry this is happening to you. How very awful. We all have to start somewhere but we won't get ahead stealing from others. I remember when I first joined this site, I didn't know a thing about candles or bath and body. But I did MY work and research. And now I have a pretty successful little shop. Not drowning in sales but I do okay! And I feel good knowing I did it all on my own and not from stealing! I just cannot believe this. I'm so upset for you Suzy! And I definitely do not think this is okay. How is anyone supposed to feel comfortable sharing their shops on here! I know I'm scared too! I don't want my stuff copied. I hope this is all sorted and fixed now Suzy. And I hope you never have to deal with this again. I can relate to you though. Aside from candles and bath and body I was make newborn photo props. And I cannot tell you how many times I found my photos all over DHgate and similiar sites. Including Ebay!! I'm actually working on shutting down my photo prop shop because I can't compete. So I know how it feels All the best Suzy!!
  13. I have another question. Do people normally mark their product down when they are selling from vendor booths? My husband is trying to convince that in order to move more product that I should mark my stuff down. Is this a good idea..or not so good idea? I went to our Harvest Homecoming and saw a lady selling her candles for $5.00 a piece. While I would normally be selling mine online for $8.00. So, is your price online different from your booth price?
  14. Okay, so I can go purchase the card reader at Best Buy or Walgreens and then sign up for it online? So, this would enable me to use this weekend?
  15. Thanks so much for the advice. I really really need it. My area will be really brightly colored. My tables will be covered with black cloth and hot pink overlays. My banner is very bright, hot pinks, greens, purples and blues with black. I think making fillers on the table is a wonderful idea and I really wouldn't have thought about doing that. How should I go about accepting orders from people? And I am not set up to accept credit cards yet. I have been using Paypal for years and years and applied for their card reader and was turned down!
