  1. We've used the ones from SKS for years. No leaks to date
  2. After seeing this post, I decided I needed to place a small order. I had used This Old House before, so that one was a no-brainer for a reorder. I blindly ordered 2 lbs each of True Lavender and Peach Magnolia Raspberry solely based on your reviews here. You guys have great taste!! For samples, I ordered: Buttercream -- holy moly strong, but it's unlike any other buttercream I've ordered in the past. It smells spicy like a sugar cookie sometimes does. I need to put this one in wax. Strawberry Cheesecake -- don't detect cheesecake OOB but it smells good. In da wax you go! Vanilla Bean Noel -- smells good, but the one from JS is stronger and better. Cinnamon Broom -- yes!! The one from FB is very weak. This one OOB is just yes!! Lemon Chiffon Pie -- smells really good, but I worry throw may be an issue with this one....lighter than most lemon bakery scents I've used. Apple Cinnamon -- amazeballs!
  3. Fireplace scents, Little Black Dress, certain linen\laundry scents...
  4. Karma does well in cp soap. Scent sticks, although I find it weak. The scent is there, but I like my scents stronger.
  5. Im always a sucker for buying samples I don't need. Off to browse Ill pop back in if I decide to make a purchase.
  6. Yes is the short answer to your question. Paraffin is pretty much the "original" wax, so all FO's created way back when were done so with paraffin in mind. Fast forward and the world is introduced to soy wax, parasoy wax, palm wax, etc. Take that and all of the "phthalate" drama, combined with other issues over the years, and the formulation of FO has changed. While most FO will work in any wax, yes, some still perform better in paraffin than soy. I've had some oils that just will not bind to parasoy wax, but will with straight paraffin. Suppliers, like Candle Science, still try to give a "soy rating" since that seems to be the finicky wax
  7. Their shipping prices are going to be indicative of how close you are to them. I'm in Georgia, so their shipping rates have always been very reasonable to me.....but then again, I always qualify for the hundredweight rate
  8. Can I just say WOW?!?!?! I've been in this business for 8 years. I've ordered from a lot of companies that were just duds all the way around. I ordered 47 samples from Cierra. I received them today. I dove into the box like a kid at Christmas....did my initial first reaction sniff with all of them. On my OOB test, I was pleased with more than half of them! I can certainly see this supplier getting my business!!! In case this is helpful to anyone, here are my OOB reviews: Buttermint - smells just like the real thing. Not a huge powerhouse, but buttermint candies aren't a huge scent in real life. Sandalwood - can barely detect a smell at all - all I can pick up on are light floral notes. Pumpkin Marshmallow - not a scent I personally care for, but it's strong. Smells just like the one at JS....maybe stronger though. The Nursery - reminds me so much of the baby lotion from Johnson & Johnson - smells really good! Coffee Bean - very very very light Chocolate Amber - Love! I'm currently using the one from NG -- consider switching, as this one may prove to actually have throw in wax. We'll see when testing! Pumpkin Cornbread - very strong! If you like the one from BW then you'll like this one. Amber Romance - Bert was the only supplier to have a good dupe of this oil. This one doesn't smell like the real AR. Cashmere Bliss - a little too floral for my cashmere taste. Not bad, but not strong. White Sage - it is green, it is herbal, but it isn't sage --- pretty light for wax, but may make a nice soap Lemon Juniper -- I really love this one! It's fruity and earthy. My lemon folks will approve of this one. Tomato Leaf -- yes. just yes Carnation - not sure what I was expecting, but I certainly wasn't expecting clove to be there. This one will have to go into wax to see if the floral notes come out. Weird. Caffe Mocha - not as strong as Bert's Mocha Cappuccino, but it's okay. I think there are probably better ones out there. Lily of the Valley - this one is almost as nice as Bert's was. Very nice! Iced Cypress -- reminds me of Sugared Spruce. Would be a nice substitute if someone needed one Cedar & Spice -- I want to get this one in wax before I judge, but I think it has potential. Coconut Lime - a classic combo I'll never tire of. Good and strong! White Sands - it is sun & sand meets beach daisies meets some clean water scent. I'm a fan! Autumn Lodge - heavy on the tobacco notes. I love this!!!! Patchouli Spice - my only complaint is that I wish it were skin safe. I'm a fan. Cedarwood - almost passed on this one, but glad I didn't. It smells just like cedar shavings and actually has oomph in the scent where most are weak. Cranberry Cypress - I'm a huge fan of cranberry, and this one does not disappoint. Very nice blend! Honeysuckle Pear - need to get this one in wax as the pear seems to dominate a little too much OOB. I like it though. Pineapple Ginger - not as spicy as I would have thought, but I adore it all the same. Patchouli - no one can compare to MW's version in my opinion, but this one would make a nice blender. Harvest Pumpkin - super strong! I will certainly be adding this one.... Marshmallow Candy - not much of a scent OOB so I won't be putting in wax -- very very light. Not even sure if it smells like the name it's so light. Oh well. Citrus Splash - holy mother of citrus! This is amazingly strong....hope it throws well in wax! Fall Harvest -- kinda has that amish harvest thing going on, so it's not that it's bad....it's just not different enough for me to pursue this one. Cappuccino Brulee - not a fan. Weak. Red Walnut & Ginger - this one has potential. It's bakery sweet yet nutty yet spicy. Black Amber & Lavender - I'm a huge fan, especially considering I can no longer get Lavender Amber from JS. I just found my replacement! Claire Burke Original - smells just like the one from JS.....and it's cheaper! Fresh Cut Grass -- definitely green, definitely fresh, but still not the one for me -- more bamboo than grass to me Twilight Orchids - won't be strong enough for candles, but who cares? This scent is gorgeous! Can't wait to make a lotion in this Woodstock '69 -- yes, yes, and yes! I love the earthy scents Cinnamon French Toast - just smells like every other cinnamon bakery scent out there Sea Mist & Lavender - gonna have to play with this one. It's clean, but I don't detect much lavender OOB -- too light for wax, I think. Frankincense & Myrrh - I still like the one from CS better, but this one could easily be renamed as something else. very nice! Fresh Herbs - need to get this one in wax. I think I'll be a fan of those herbal notes come to life. Great potential. Strawberry Kiwi - I like the one from Peak better, but this one is nice too (more berry than kiwi though) Midnight Jasmine -- finally a jasmine that doesn't smell like urine. Not sure if it's an exact dupe, but it's great regardless! Pineapple Cilantro - the cilantro isn't heavy, but it's there. I really like this one! Bergamot Rosewood - probably not strong enough for wax, but an interesting combo. I like rosewood and you can smell the citrus top note. May do well in b&b! Fireside Serenity - mixed on this one...need to put in wax. OOB I smell sweet bakery notes (marshmallow maybe)....not sure I detect much "fireside" notes. Oxford - not sure if it's an exact scentsy dupe or not, but I'm a fan. It has the earthy vibe I love. Hoping it gets stronger in wax. So, overall, there were 22 fragrances I would order based on OOB scent alone. Several others are maybe scents, followed by only a few duds. The rest were great scents, but not what I was looking for. Hope this is helpful
  9. Thanks to your post, I placed a small $100 order with them to try out several of their oils. Looking for a good jasmine that doesn't give me a headache nor smell like armpits
  10. I sell Christmas Tree every month of the year. I agree with the others. Leave it with the original name.....OR.....if you insist on changing it during the off-season, make it so that it has dual names so customers know it's the same scent in case they want it in March For example, let's say you want to rename it to Tree Sperm during the off-season.....list it on your website as Autumn Leaves (September - November) / Tree Sperm. Hope that makes sense
  11. Off the top of my head...,.Berry Bellini, Frosted Pumpkin, Serendipity, Vanilla Bean Noel, Caramel Cinnamon Latte, Vanilla the King, Pink Sugar, Claire Burke Original, Hippie Chick, Coconut Leaves, Cucumber Apple Splash, Butter Brickle, Poolside Paradise (bodacious line)..... JS is one of my top suppliers. I know she doesn't get a whole lot of love here, but I think many opinions come from only smelling the oils OOB --- so many of hers have really come to life in wax! Her citrus scents are generally the only ones I tend to avoid, as well as most of the discounted BB line; otherwise, I think many of her oils are amazing!!
  12. Bombshell from CandleWic is one that comes to mind. OOB it's pretty weak....in wax, boom!!
  13. I love JS oils (I use over 100 of hers), but since you mentioned gingerbread.....you MUST try Honey Gingerbread from Backwoods --- drool
  14. I'm with so-soy on this one! I've used JS's VBN for years now -- it's very very strong in wax!! It's actually better to me than the original from BBW. I hope she hasn't changed the formula....
  15. Sweet Strawberry ~ Flaming Candle Co. Sun Ripened Raspberry ~ The Candle Source Fairy Garden ~ formerly Moonworks ... now you can find it at Fragrance Buddy, I think Sugared Cranberries ~ The Candle Source Black & Blue ~ Indiana (not sure if they still have this one or not) Blackberry Cobbler ~ The Candle Source (I don't detect cobbler notes, but it's a stunning blackberry scent)
  16. Cashmere Woods was super light OOB so I never bothered putting it in wax. Not sure how it would do in bath bombs. There are just better cashmere scents out there IMO.
  17. Patchouli is such a versatile fragrance. It can be the star of the show or a supporting actor. The end result is great regardless! I recently blended it with clove. Double yum!
  18. Cranberry Woods rocks the house in parasoy wax tarts. A heavy medium throw. I love it!
  19. Definitely The Candle Source!!
  20. Check with Southwest Candle Supply -- they have former GL fragrances. Perhaps they can direct you where to get it??
  21. I've actually been having our customers provide feedback for the past few months since this is a question we get asked over and over and over from our new customers. So, the info I provide below is a combo of my results and the results of many of our regular customers. 1) Parasoy tart wax (my custom blend of three waxes) 2) 6% - 9% FO load depending on the oil 3) My personal preference are the hotplate style electric warmers (most of our customers use the same). Wattages vary from 14 - 22, all with great results. 4) Results of throw and longevity are indicative of too many variables (floor plan, air conditioner, windows open/closed, sq ft of room, which fragrance is being melted, and varying sniffers) However, an "estimated" answer is that most fragrances burned in my 20-watt burner last at least 12 hours with continuous burn. I've had some that lasted three days on a continuous burn (this is rare though). Hope this info is helpful to some.
  22. I'm a huge fan of BBW Country Apple. The best dupe by far is Nature's Garden -- shocking, I know, but true all the same
  23. Who has the best dupes (and strongest) of Rose Jam, Sultana, and Jungle? Daystar, Fragrance Buddy, or NG? Does NG have Rose Jam and Jungle? I know that their Royal B is supposed to be Sultana, right?
  24. I wear this perfume. I tried the version from NG a few years ago. It was pretty dang close to the original. They still have it
  25. Yeah, Scented, even their sample prices are steep. I wanted to just take the plunge and order a pound of each ... just don't want to be stuck with duds :\ It would help if I had ever tried Lush products. Even if I order from DS, I still won't know if they're exact. Sigh. I suppose if this is my worst problem of the day, I'm doing okay thanks!
