  1. Gorgeous swirls and tantilizing color! Can't wait to see what it looks like after you've cut it.
  2. Beautiful soaps! You got some talent there.
  3. I'm melting a wickless Jasmine (by BCN) in the guest bathroom and will be pouring Lavender Vanilla (by Candle Science) later today.
  4. When I used pure soy, I had good luck with CD-18 in the 6 ounce tins. The Eco's always drowned out. Depending on your FO and dye you could be anywhere between a CD 16 and a 20.
  5. One of my favorite FO OOB and in Tarts is Cranberry Marmalade. But when I burned it in a candle and got that fuel smell, it was a big disappointment. I never tried the vanilla trick. Will have to do that. I've been avoiding that FO in candles and it's really a shame because it's a terrific fragrance. Thanks for the vanilla tip! :highfive:
  6. Great idea! I'm in dier need of marketing/promotional ideas.
  7. I agree and usually don't buy from them unless they have a fragrance I can't find anywhere else. Otherwise, they're FO strength seems watered down to me. :tiptoe:
  8. I love CS Mistletoe! I can't stop taking the lid off the candle and taking a good, long sniffie.
  9. I use CD's with GL 70/30 with great success. I tried LX and Eco and didn't care for the mushrooming, either. You'll still get some mushrooming with the CD's if your fragrance load is too high. With this wax, though, you don't need a lot of FO. Good luck!
  10. I have good success with CD's in GL 70/30. HTH
  11. Your soap looks fabulous! I like the curly waves on top...really nice!
  12. As Stella said, when the weather changed this last Spring, I was one who tore my hair out with the EZsoy frost issues and finally threw in the towel after battling with it for over a year with each change in weather. I'm using a blend now and (knock on wood! ) so far, things are going well. EZsoy is very tempermental, though an awesome throwing wax! Along the lines of heating the jars, make sure they're not sitting on a cold surface after you heat them and while pouring. I always placed a layer of paper towels (or napkins) beneath them to insulate the bottoms.
  13. Gorgeous soaps!! My favorite are the last two rows of photos.
  14. I have pretty good results with the Reddig Glo dye chips except for some of the reds and purples which don't want to disolve all the way and leave the little speckles in the wax (as you mentioned). I've switched to the liquid dyes for reds and purples now but keep the dye chips for all other colors since I've got my candle custom colors all worked out. Just gotta be careful not to spill those puppies!!
  15. I see the face ....that's cool! Pretty soaps!!
  16. CandleScience's is the best I've smelled. It's a true scent. All other's I've tried smell like creamed corn.
  17. MasterBaker2, would that be a soap with coffee grounds in it?
  18. Are you using straight soy? When I used strictly soy (no blend) there was one FO particularly that would smell horrid when it was burning. It had a bad chemical, fuel smell. Oddly, before it was burned, it was one of my favorite FO's because I mainly used it in tarts prior to candles....and I used a different wax for tarts. So, bottom line...it might be your container wax combined with the FO. They may not like eachother.
  19. Thank you for looking and for your sweet comments! I just love making these logs and slicing them. I couldn't find a crinkle cutter in my area to save my life!...so my daughter gave me her Pampered Chef crinkle cutter and it does an awesome job. Yes, this is Peaks FO. It rocks!!
  20. I would like to experiment with some fun additives. When I was at the grocery store nosing around in the spice section, I noticed they carried 'orange citris peel' and 'lemon citris peel', both very finely ground. Would this be the right thing to use in M&P soap? Or do I need to go to an online supplier for something that's processed differently? TIA
  21. I do layered wicked candles and I also make a lot of wickless but haven't layered any of those yet. I've thought about it because, yes, I have no doubt it can be done. You would just want to pick colors that, when all melted together, still look appealing. I can't wait to see your creation! I hope you post photos when you've done one.
