  1. Thank you, Candle Man Can I use any kind of wick with these metal wick tabs? I'm planning on starting out with ECO wicks. Will that work?...or do the metal wick tabs limit which wicks to use? Thanks again!
  2. Oh belieeeeeeeeve me!....my mind is racing with all the neato things I still need to buy. I just don't know what they ALL are yet. Is there a tidy list of all these goodies/supplies/necessities somewhere? I never would have thought about a "UV inhibitor" (let alone know what it is :rolleyes2 )
  3. My daughter has been selling Gold Canyon Candles for a number of years, therefore, I was a buyer . As a safety precaution, their wicks will go out when the candle wax reaches about 1/2" from the bottom of the jar. I've always liked that nifty little 'feature'. But now that I'll be making my own candles, I was wondering if anyone knew the secret to this? Is there something placed on the last 1/2" (or so) of the wick to cause it to be unable to hold the flame? Thanks for any replies
  4. Thanks :smiley2: I've purchased from BCN but as I was on eBay looking for a 'heat gun', I ran across this "100% soy" listing and got curious. I couldn't figure out why anyone could sell something like this without giving more detail (in fact, refusing to!)..other than stating that it was "100% soy". But...since I'm new at this, I'm going to ask lots of questions. Thanks for your answer :highfive:
  5. A seller at eBay is offering "100% soy" (so they say) wax. When I wrote and asked them the brand name, they told me they do not need to disclose that info. Well, I'm a novice...what do I know...maybe they're correct in withholding that info. But it makes me suspicious that it might not even be "100% soy". Does anyone buy soy wax from eBay? And, if so, does it matter that you don't know the brand?
  6. Thanks for the 'welcome's' :-) Do all of you sell any of your candles in order to recoup some of the expense?
  7. I'm new to candle making (actually, I haven't made any yet), new at posting here....but have been reading these boards for several months now in anticipation of making my own soy candles. You all have posted great info and I think I've narrowed my soy wax preference down to EZ soy.... ......SOooooooo, I go to BCN to purchase my "starter kit" ($58.99) ...and then, of course, I have to have some fragrances that I think are yummy so I buy the 5 sample pack (add another $12.50). And then, I MUST have coordinating colors....so I purchase more dye chips (add another $9.00). By now (and after shipping costs), I'm nearly $100.00 into this "let-me-see-if-I-even-LIKE-making-candles" thing ...and I don't even think I've scratched the surface in purchasing all the supplies I'll need (want! ). Just for "starters", I hope I don't botch up these candles!! I eagerly await my order to arrive so I can get started and may I say that it's a pleasure to join all of you here!
