  1. Is this the first burn? Palm doesn't burn like soy or paraffin. It will burn down before it burns out. My palm candles don't reach the side of the jar until about the middle of the 3rd 4 hour burn. ETA- I should have added that in that size jar my palm candles don't reach the side of the jar until about the middle of the 3rd 4 hour burn.
  2. Sorry I can't help you. Since I don't use soy, my candles come out with very smooth tops, so I never have to heat gun the tops. I use my heat gun mainly for shrink wrapping my votives (when I make them) and my soaps. Rarely for anything else.
  3. I haven't heard that necessarily (I wrap my soap in shrink wrap, so still plastic) however, what I am hearing on the news and what-not that by the year 2025 plastic will be completely outlawed. We already have some groceries stores here in my state that have completely got plasticless and use either reusable burlap sacks, or back to the old days of brown kraft paper bags.
  4. I don't. Not sure why that's happening to you. for me the bottoms do get solid a little quicker than the tops but not that much quicker that it would be a problem. By the time it's ready to flip, the bottom is only about 1/4 inch thick with the top being just solid enough not to leak.
  5. I have never found that to be the case. I mean, as long as I warmed the jars and then kept them in my environment, sometimes, (but never 100% of the time) I wouldn't get wet spots. However, once they left the ambient temp of my home/atmosphere they were made in, like taking them to a show, giving them as gifts, etc., the wet spots would ALWAYS appear. Not just sometimes, always, and once I realized that, I eliminated that useless step in my process. Now they just show up sooner is all. Also the fact that the consumer could honestly not care less - literally, they just do not care, then why bother? IMO it is really a waste of time and energy for something that is truly not needed in the least. Personally, my time is more valuable than fighting a fight that just does not need to be fought because it simply doesn't matter.
  6. I use dye, yes, but can always see the liquid slosh then when I turn it over, the air bubble float upwards which ends up being the bottom of the candle.
  7. My dye must be really potent. I can't get it off using Dawn and that's the only dish detergent I'll use because it really cuts the grease/oil off of my soaping equipment, but when making candles and getting dye on my hands, I still have stained hands after cleanup, even with using Dawn. That's when I pull out the mineral oil, and dab a little on a paper towel. It's like magic.
  8. I don't work with soy, so not sure. Could be she added stearic, or some other additive. And as I said, she very well may have used pure soy as her wax, so her answer would be yes, even if additives were added. A pure soy candle and a 100% soy candle have different meanings. Or she could be lying about her both the wax and burn times. Did you purchase a candle and test it?
  9. When I flip the middle is still molten wax and you can actually see the air pocket rise to the bottom of the container when you flip it. At least I can, as I use clear glass jars. Yes, the air bubbles are still there, but they are down at the bottom of the candle within the area where the neck of the wick tab is and the candle shouldn't be burned further down than that anyway, so this method works perfectly for me.
  10. I don't like how the tops look when I poke relief holes in jar candles - it disrupts the crystalization pattern, and gets bumpy. It works, yeah, but IMO it doesn't work any better than doing the flip. I've never had a problem with flipping the jars other than sometimes trying to flip too soon and getting a little leak.
  11. I turn it completely upside down until it is completely cooled. Usually overnight. You just need to make sure the top layer will hold the molten wax without melting through and leaking. I flip as soon as I'm able too, and can still see the liquid wax inside the candle.
  12. With additives yes. Wording is tricky. She may have used pure soy in the candle, meaning it was not a soy blend, but then added the additives. Just because she didn't disclose the additives, doesn't necessarily mean she didn't use pure soy to make the candle.
  13. I agree with everyone else. All I see is a fire hazard. I don't even find them cute or pretty, just hazardous.
  14. Hmm, I guess I've never heard of this type of spray, so when I said I make it myself, I lied. I've never made that type of spray before. Just a glorified room spray I guess..
  15. Yes, this why there are a few suppliers that others RAVE about but I refuse to buy from because when I get to my cart and calculate, the shipping is more expensive than the items and i just cannot justify that.
  16. I don't know any.one who sprays the water before they go. Every room/poo spray ect., I've seen or used is a room spray you spray after you go and before you leave the room. Why would you spray the water before you go? Not sure that would help with anything to be truthful.
  17. Like everything depends on the market. When I first started with b&b they were all the rage, died out, came back, died out, then recently came back again. So even as they are dying out as of right now, give it a couple years, the rage will be back, I'm 100% positive of it. In the few markets I do, and the few I go too, there are several booths that do amazingly well with only selling the bath bombs and bubble bars.
  18. It happening once, sure. But this last instance was the 3rd time they left their customer base in the lurch with shady practices and just packing up and disappearing in the night. Who's to say this is all in their past? I sure can't and thrice burned is twice to many times for me. (and yes, I was an extremely loyal customer when they first opened, and as it happened I was like their 3rd paying customer to buy from them when they opened)
  19. Yeah, they are the country kitchen jars from the jar store. But I swear, even not searching for county kitchen jars, I DID try and find the jar store because I've bought from there several times in the past, but no matter how I tried to put it into my web browser it wouldn't come up, so I thought they went out of business. I think it was part of the myriad of problems my last work computer was having before it finally just died a slow painful death last week. (I' had been limping it along for about 3.5 months!)
  20. HAHAHA - So, the place I knew I had bought these from before, for some reason I could not get to come up so thought they had gone out of business. 5 pages later in google, I found them - finally - at of all places - The Jar Store. I tried finding that website for weeks. Could never come up for me. Not sure why? ? Maybe a firewall issue with my last computer (my work computer just got restaged on Monday because my old one bit the dust!! LOL) IDK but I'm happy now, so it doesn't matter. LOL I thought for sure I did look for "county comfort" and "country kitchen" jars, as well as "apothecary" jars, but obviously I did NOT. @ScentedPleasurez Thank you so much for your help, it's appreciated, but I did finally find what I was looking for and placed an order. Hopefully they will be here in time for me to make some candles before my next show on the 10th/11th...
  21. I don't know how you are finding these, but I appreciate it. I've googled until my fingers ache and I just can never find anything!!
  22. I've definitely had this happen with soap, but never with a candle. Yeah, some cold throw is gone after a long while, but as @kandlekrazy said, my old candles, when lit, will fill a room with scent. Even if they are upwards of 5, 10 or even 15+ years old. IMO if a candle 'loses' it's hot throw after sitting a while it was either 1) made incorrectly, or 2) non-quality fragrance, or EO was used.
  23. Thank you. I will have to call them, as it says the lids are included but it doesn't say what type. If they are the bubble lids it's a no go. I use the flat lids, and the flat lids will not fit the jars that originally have the bubble lids. I've made that mistake before.
  24. Oh sorry, that wasn't clear or I wouldn't have responded as I did.
  25. Sorry to hear about your lost day. This right here that you described is one of the reasons I don't do outside shows. Just the sheer unpredictable weather of where I live deters me. It could be 70° one day, and literally snow 2 feet the next with no warning and the weathermen then saying "wow that came out of nowhere" because they have no clue how to predict the weather here.
