  1. Welcome from another IL candle maker! I haven't ordered from Kangaroo Blue, but mostly because I thought they were primarily B&B, have heard good things though. There's DPSwax in New Lenox and NuScents in McHenry. BCN has good shipping rates, but if you find a place you can pick up your wax, it's usually the better choice. NuScents charges a $5 handling fee if you have your order shipped, so I always pick up. Indiana Candle Supply and Mill Creek are both in IN, so shipping won't be bad from there either. Where in IL are you? I lived in Plainfield a few years, am now farther north.
  2. I'd probably be a little miffed myself, though not overly angry. I'm assuming yours was developed first. It is somewhat different, and harder to remember than yours, honestly. Yours has a rhythm to it that I like much better. Sorry that had to happen, since I remember the thread with your name suggestions, it's disappointing someone would try to copy it. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery?
  3. Many of the things listed in the craft show sticky should help you. Have some coffee for people to sniff and clear their noses if they get scent overload. Door prizes are always good, can get you names for your mailing list that way too.
  4. Hey, that's great! Good for you for getting out there.
  5. Wait until it cools down a bit and see if the weepage is reabsorbed. If there's a lot, you might want to just absorb it with a paper towel then clean your container edges real well. I don't think a heat gun will do you much good, but you could always try. I don't think it's just FO that seeps out. I've had it happen, but I don't think flash point would be a large concern because it's not pure FO seeping. It also seems to happen more on my newer candles, so maybe cure time has something to do it.
  6. Blue Sugar (very great throw at 1oz pp) Passion Fruit & Guava Woodland Breeze also what others have said, throw for me in C3 There are a few posts on their message board too that might help you.
  7. That's a very nice article. Congratulations on your one year anniversary!!
  8. Here's their website with a map of distributors. http://www.naturewax.com/distributors.html Find the one closest to you. It's different the EZ Soy, you can pour it hot and don't have to wait for it to get slushy. Looks like they've redone their website, it's nice except the pic with a paraffin candle...odd. eta: Okay, so I didn't notice this was a duplicate thread and your questions already answered in the other one. Oops!
  9. Start with 2 oz pp of your container wax (I use C3, so not sure how yours will work). It should help with cracking, not necessarily the frosting.
  10. Well, I'm thinking it's an insert too, only my guess is the insert might go the full length of the mold or slightly longer so it can be more easily pulled out with the candle.
  11. It's possible you might need to prime your wick with a thicker coating so they're stiff enough to go through. Of course, if the problem is the hole being too small, ignore me and listen to Jeana.
  12. Try wicking down and see what you get. Mine will go 5-6 hours, but they're not quite hot enough to work well in a tart burner.
  13. I was thinking along the same line as SatinDucky. But I'm thinking it's your wick, looks like it's curled a little bit which throws your flame off center. It looks like it's placed correctly. Try another burn or two like Satin suggested.
  14. another vote for Backwoods' Chocolate Turtle Cheesecake. It is a great thrower, more interesting than plain chocolate, and just yummy!
  15. You have to weigh it, a lot of times the jar won't actually hold the amount they're designed for. Weigh an empty jar, and subtract that from one with a candle in it.
  16. Be a little more patient. Does it say sealant or caulk on your tube?
  17. It needs to set up for a little while, but overnight isn't necessary. It should be like a silicone caulk rather than a lubricant. It is kind of messy, though.
  18. Wouldn't a little cyclo help? Don't ask me how much or anything, but I have read it can give products a more silky feel.
  19. Thanks again! I do have it get cloudy with some FOs, might have to buy some crothix next time I order supplies. Appreciate the help!
  20. And if you have something over, then your jar doesn't hold as much as you think it does. Might want to weigh a finished candle and subtract the weight of the jar.
