  1. Sounds like a wonderful start to the week! Congratulations!
  2. Are you talking about putting the FO in there with UNmelted wax? If so, I think there could definitely be flash point issues. Just get the wax to the temp you want in the microwave (check the temp often) and then add FO. No need to do them together unless you're re-melting wax that's already been scented, and then ditto to what Stella and others said.
  3. Don't use food coloring; it's water-based and won't mix with your wax. Besides that, we just don't want water in our wax. Make sure it's color made for candles. The blocks are an inexpensive way to start.
  4. So, how was it? I missed the show last night but wondered if you saw your goodies.
  5. Maybe you should have some ready and sitting around. Make extras of whatever you have an order for then next time you won't have to make it. If you have multiple pour pots, that will help you too.
  6. Not all soys are poured cool. She's probably got a wax that requires higher pour temps. Sounds like you have some frosting on the tops. You can see what using a heat gun will do, but it will quite possibly come back. If the top is not smooth, a heat gun will remelt the surface and even it out a bit.
  7. I think your scents that sold just weren't Christmas-y scents. With Thanksgiving just over, everyone's thinking Christmas and holidays. It's possible those other scents just don't make them think of Christmas. I wouldn't worry about it. You did great!
  8. Well, they do shop for the scent (of course I've found many who shop by color first, then scent). But the name makes them decide whether they'll give it a sniff.
  9. If they're ordering right at the show, they know what scent they want. You should have a list with all your scents and descriptions handy, but it's not necessary on your form. Main thing would be contact information. I've used my receipt forms and written ORDER on it so I'd know which ones I had orders for. I've also done 1/4 sheets of paper with blanks for address, phone number, and what's ordered in a table with qty, size, and scent. And yes, payment due at time of order; it's easier for everyone that way.
  10. Shari, just read the supplier's info on it before purchasing. Some have the inhibitor where you use one for a couple of colors and another inhibitor for the other colors. Look for the kind that covers all. I like BCN's but have gotten it elsewhere as well.
  11. No, don't use the microwave. Don't forget about the wick tab in there.
  12. Haven't cracked mine yet. I think my oven's lowest temp was 180. Just keep an eye on it. The reason for the pan is that mine fell over when I closed the oven door, after they were mostly melted.
  13. Beautiful site! On the Fragrance Choices page, it's titled Fragrances Choices. I agree with the others about the product page. If you just had those titles to linked to the candle, soap or butter page, that would help a lot.
  14. I've been pouring to fill my first fundraiser order. Still have 8 more scents to go. Some left are fresh apple, cranberry, pink pepperberry, peppermint, hazelnut coffee, and I forget what else.
  15. Yes, UV inhibitor should take care of it. Surprised it didn't happen sooner. Sunlight and indoor lighting will cause colors to fade.
  16. You could set it on a candle warmer or put it in your oven on warm. If you use the oven, set it in a cake pan or something. :lipsrseal I learned that the hard way.
  17. I think you should consider a plain vanilla and probably a simple floral. Oh, and cinnamon, too.
  18. Violet, hugs for you! Hope things are looking better for you this morning! I would imagine you can still get into some craft shows to try to sell some of that stock. Something will work out! And now, her line of scents will just have to be made available to others since she's no longer interested. She's wasted enough of your time.
  19. If you know another crafter in the area (who makes something different), you may want to consider having them display with you. It might attract more people, even if it's not a crafter but something like Tastefully Simple that others may have heard of and will stop in for then see your goodies and fall in love.
  20. I applied to a craft show that asked for a bio and some of the shows I'd been in before. Perhaps it's something like that? Have you talked to them yet?
  21. Some wicks will curl while burning, so depending what kind of wicks, that could be what you're seeing.
  22. Sounds like a great idea, barncat! Let us know how it goes.
  23. Shrinky Dinks are this plastic material with a picture stamped on them. They are colored with colored pencils, cut out and then baked. They shrink right up and become a harder plastic. The oven, I believe, is similar to a kids make 'n' bake oven.
