  1. congrats, grama! I don't use the eco wicks, so can't help you there.
  2. Well, for starters, pick one jar first. Perhaps the plainest looking. And order sample packs of wicks, most suppliers sell them. You can always go back and order larger packs of the correct sizes, and you'll have the extras in the sampler pack for trying out on different sized jars. Keep in mind the larger jars burn for a longer time so will take a little longer to test. Keep doing your research. Lots of good stuff on here, as I'm sure you've already found. Just give it a try and go from there!
  3. Just use some C3 with it. No need for the beeswax or stearic (PSA). Have to play to find out what's just right, try 1.5oz pp for starters. Try covering them as they cool, too.
  4. C3 doesn't shrink as much as a votive wax, so as Stella said, it sticks to the mold and you can't get it out. You could pour candles directly into a votive glass and have a votive that way with C3. Of course, if you really want to know what happens, give it a try.
  5. Could be the melt point of your wax, I suppose.
  6. You can choose which warehouse you want your glass shipped from at Fairway. They have a few, Las Vegas and Dallas shouldn't be too far from you.
  7. Your scents will last a very long time in your candles, might even get stronger over time. They last longer in candles than as the straight FO. Home shows are fun because the reason people are coming is to buy your candles, and they will. Maybe have a door prize or free raffle (get entries based on how much they spend). Have fun!
  8. NuScents has a very nice White Ginger, and it throws great. I don't sell a lot of it myself, but I like to burn it for myself.
  9. That is a very nice scent. I'm glad it throws for you because it didn't for me. (I use C3)
  10. 2 days is probably the minimum time for curing, let it sit a few more days and try again, up to 2 weeks. If you're not sure about throw, have someone else burn it for you; I'm sure you've read about candlenose.
  11. Sounds like a nice burn! The burn rates do vary, but 37 hours sfor that jar sounds pretty good.
  12. Another C3 user here! I like it, don't give up on it yet.
  13. What do you have in your cart? I ordered some FOs the other day, and shipping to me was $8.01. Shouldn't be that much more to you.
  14. Oh no, that's terrible! If you think you'll try that show again next year, maybe suggest they have the dunk tank in a low spot and keep the DJ near the games like that rather than the craft show. Maybe even warn the promoter of your show in 2 weeks that you don't want to be too near the DJ because of the volume. At least it wasn't a total loss, and maybe you'll get repeat customers from it.
  15. Peak is advertised on the right side of the screen, JS is Just Scent. You might want to order in larger sizes if you plan on selling. 2oz won't last long, not to mention the increased cost.
  16. It all sounds so exciting! You'll have to remind us when it gets close to the air date, so we'll remember to watch!
  17. I like that one too, very nice! Can I ask how much FO you used per pound? I would like a little more throw but only tried 1 oz pp.
  18. You might want to try pouring hotter. Could also be the rate at which they're cooling. I've gotten that spongy-ness in my candles before (using a different wax), but I'm sorry to say I don't remember what I determined to cause it. Try remelting them and see if they set up better (you might lose your wicks since they're already trimmed, but you could just pour into a pour pot or another jar.
  19. That's a very good deal, and they are acceptable for candles. Of course different jars means figuring out wicks, but it's fun to play.
  20. Either form, liquid or flakes, it should weigh the same. Have you been measuring the fluid ounces? If you have, it could throw off your FO percent.
  21. I think all waxes weigh a little differently by volume. Why don't you weigh an empty jelly jar and subtract that from one of yours that is filled to the level you like. Then you'll know how much of your wax that particular jar can hold. Water would give you a different answer. The jelly jars I use hold 6.5oz of the soy wax I use, and it sounds like yours hold more. Just keep track of what you're doing and have fun! You'll get it figured out.
  22. Wick up does mean a larger wick. I agree with Southern Gal, you should probably try two wicks in that one. It's hard to judge throw accurately with being underwicked, but most people use at least 1oz per pound as a starting point (I do anyway).
