  1. 15 fluid ounces (by your Pyrex)of wax weighs less than 15 oz. You'll need need to weigh it. Once you figure out how many fl oz you need (by looking at your Pyrex after weighing), you can fill to that line. I have to fill mine past the 16oz mark to get a pound of wax.
  2. Are you mostly concerned with the frosting or the cracking? Also with the cracking, you can cool them under a box part of the time. The V1 just isn't real easy to work with.
  3. Vertically, everyone seems to be smelling a little something different with the Blue Sugar. I don't smell Pink Sugar at all. At first, all I could smell was cedar. Now I get the full scent (I think), and it's very nice. Still some sweet to it but not as much as Pink Sugar.
  4. You have to add some container wax to it. About 2-3 oz pp of V1.
  5. Sometimes you need to play with placement of them, but dividing in thirds is a good place to start. Go for it!
  6. 2 wicks should be fine then. Start with the smaller HTPs; the others might be too big. I use RRD 37s in mine, the 47s would be too big for sure.
  7. Thank you, Heaven Scents! I haven't used Crothix to thicken, does it work better than salt?
  8. Oh wow, I've never tried a 6" container. Maybe 3 wicks and try the htp83?
  9. You could order a pillar kit from a supplier near you. Maybe call when you order and ask about the tealite insert for making everlasting pillars. Otherwise, search here for everlasting pillars, there's an insert you purchase and put inside your mold which leaves a space for the tealite. (sorry I don't make these, that's the best I can do)
  10. Does anyone use this? It's a Stephenson base that makes shower gel, shampoo and bubble bath. I get a strong soap smell even after following all directions. I add 1% FO, called Stephenson today and it was suggested I try increasing FO to 1.5%. No change. Anyone else notice this? I'm kind of hoping it's just me and maybe I got a funny batch or something; they said no one had ever called with this complaint before.
  11. I know this has popped up occasionally, but they need more people so this can happen. And it's going to be my first conference, so I really want it to happen! Please??? I know there's a lot of you who could drive to this... Here's the website: http://www.chicagosoapandcandlemakers.com/ They do have two candle demonstrations lined up so far. One is for soy and the other one hasn't been decided. Of course, there could be more if someone volunteers.... (hint hint) The location is at a hotel in Tinley Park, maybe 20 min south of Chicago. It's Saturday, August 11 (there was also the possibility of a Saturday night dinner and fun gathering) from 7:30 AM-6:00 PM. Some vendors attending: Kangaroo Blue, Lebermuth, The Scent Shack, Synergy, National Shrinkwrap, Columbus Foods, Oak Court Creations. There's still room for more vendors too, so if you know somebody...
  12. I like it! I don't think you need your number on that big sign, you don't know who's going to write it down from across the street, and customers aren't likely to write it down. Just have business cards with your contact info. Make sure that drawer with the aluminum bottles won't fall out or the whole thing fall over. Other than that, you've got a little of your own style in the setup, some creativity. Might want to put some taller items in the crate-style shelving. Be prepared for the wind; some of those things look like they can blow down or away.
  13. I guess I'd be a little concerned about having the FO directly in there without having the wax melted. I think if you want to try this, wait until enough wax has melted to dilute the FO first.
  14. I think it's wonderful! I would have loved that when I was teaching. eta: I would love it now.
  15. That's good, Kim! Always nice to find someone to test and give you good, honest feedback.
  16. Carole, I'm so glad I'm not the only one!
  17. macnmyer, I think my nose is broke. Either that or it needs some fragrance boot camp. I only detect the cedar and some sweetness in the Blue. While burning, cold, and OOB. Other people don't even seem to notice the cedar, but it's all this nose is pulling out. I'll have to stop smelling it for a couple days then try again. The Hazelnut Coffee has such a strong cold throw that I don't need to light it. Very strong coffee and hazelnut scents. Of course, I will light it...soon.
  18. I used all the following at 1oz pp in soy (C3) with very good throw in a short amount of time. Passionfruit & Guava (yummy, my new favorite scent) Amazingly Graceful Backwoods Blue The Blue I burned 24 hours after pouring, the others have been almost 2 days.
  19. Keep in mind, most of these go Parcel Post. The post office told me once that parcel items might sit in the warehouse a few days before going out. I guess they think they aren't important or something. Hang in there, it'll come and will be well worth the wait!
  20. I'd say it's probably because of the different wax. Do you need to wick up with it in your containers? Try the CD4 and see if it works; if not, maybe a small LX.
  21. Not necessarily, because you're using smaller wicks than you would with just one wick. Someone may have a more scientific/mathematical explanation for you, though.
  22. I really like BCN's Georgia Peach and Strawberry Jam. The strawberry jam is sweeter than a plain strawberry, but you did say sweet.
  23. 1 wick, it's the diameter of the container usually for how many wicks. Have fun and good luck!
  24. I think there may have been a discussion about this a while back. Don't remember exactly when, though.
  25. It does sound like frosting on the top. I don't think I've had it completely cover the top before, almost sounds like "bloom" maybe. Your house temperature may be just enough different that they're cooling at a different rate. As for the sink holes, there was a thread here about that not to long ago and there are others too. Some people find pouring the C3 cooler helps with that, others like to pour hotter. Might just need to keep playing around and take good notes. A heat gun helps fix the sinking, poke some holes in there while you're heating. Hope that helps a little, I imagine someone else will have had the frosting like that and be more help.
