  1. I agree with marcuset. If you title the thread with the name of the company, someone's more likely to let you know if they've ever bought from them, too. I haven't heard anything from the post office, but filed my complaint online the same day as my last post. I'm so glad others are doing the same!
  2. Nope, islandgirl, he's getting our street addresses. Must be going to whois to find them, as mine's not on my site anywhere.
  3. My BIL did one for his massage therapy business and said he'd never do it again. He had people complaining about the service (he only hires top-notch therapists) and asking for money back. He also realized it was people just looking to get a good deal that would not be repeat customers. With candles, you might be more likely to get some repeat customers. It would also likely get your name out there and be more recognized in the future. You'd also have to be able to make a LOT of candles.
  4. I just received the same letter today! I didn't figure it out until I'd composed a letter in response (managed to type over another document and lost it). He claimed it was a gift basket and two of the candles did not have wicks. My wax has bubbled up over the wicks when kept in temperature extremes, so it wasn't completely unbelievable. Until I saw the basket he was talking about in my inventory, never sold. Since he's scamming us, we can file against him for mail fraud. And it's happened to at least two people we know of. Lisa, did you save yours?
  5. Menard's has jelly jars, if you have one of those stores around.
  6. Okay, I just bought two cases of C3 last week, so this is really frustrating for me. But, for my fellow chandlers who also use it, NuScents is selling it for $57 a case until Thursday 12/18. That's $15 less than their regular price, and even with their handling fee and shipping, I imagine it would still be a good deal for many of you. (I pick up, so I'm guessing on that). www.nuscentscandle.com Merry Christmas to my C3 friends on CT! santa chee
  7. I would take those as suggested wick starting points for 65mm diameter and under candles. If they have larger wicks, then those would be used for larger diameter candles. I haven't heard of any wick not being suitable in a certain kind of wax, though some are preferred over others. Of course, in your testing, you may find their suggestions to be a bit (or more than a bit) off. Hope that helps, as I'm not familiar with NT wicks or ESPB wax, but it shouldn't make a difference with the answer. Welcome to boards! Good to have you!
  8. I use the containers with drawers. I take the label off the bag of wicks and stick it on the front of the drawer. The smaller size drawers hold a pack of 100 wicks. If you use larger amounts, you'd need a larger drawer.
  9. Head over to their forums. I don't know the url right offhand, but you can find it from their main page. Everyone's helpful there and generally quick to respond, and they'll have you headed in the right direction.
  10. Oh, I like butterflies! Very pretty candle!
  11. I've got a couple Precious Moments votive glass holders, but I've had them a while and don't remember where they came from, maybe a Hallmark store. There are also Precious Moments mugs out there.
  12. That doesn't sound too bad, then. As long as the soot isn't thick on the jar, you're probably okay. You could still try it with the next size smaller wick just to see if it'll work.
  13. I have only tried the one from Backwoods, and it works for me. Not a knock-you-out throw but still strong and pleasant in C3.
  14. I haven't tried the Eco wicks, but perhaps just using a size smaller of the same will help you. It may not seem like it's going to work, but don't expect a full melt pool on the first burn (or 2-3 even). I get a good throw using LX and HTP. You should not have to live with soot. Are you burning near a draft or anything? When are you seeing the soot?
  15. You can certainly use the same fragrances. It's not like gel where you have to test for polarity or anything like that, but it will burn and perhaps throw differently than paraffin. Keep in mind the rapidly increasing price of soy as you change over.
  16. Oh, boy. I hadn't checked my C3 pricing for a while. Last time I did it was $8 more a case and now it's another $10. The Ecosoya seems higher too, but my supplier's discontinuing that so switching's not an option. There was only one size I was going to have to change pricing on, but now it may be more. This stinks!
  17. I don't remember ever being told I couldn't do something else. Most of them have a spiel to go through, and have to say certain things at specific times to get it all in. It could just be hard to squeeze in something else, but a good rep could do it. I've only used the credit card processing once, so not sure how it'd work to multiple company products. I would think that since Mary Kay reps typically keep their stock in hand, that the monies processed do not go straight to Mary Kay to place an order, but that all the money goes to the consultant. Pampered Chef, however, only charges when there is an order and a consultant would just get her earnings. Adding more than Pampered Chef items to that could throw things off.
  18. I used to sell Mary Kay. I only had one or two parties, but I went to all the meetings, so I might be able to help you. I'm guessing those who like attending these parties might be able to answer some of your questions, too.
  19. I like the contemporary style a lot, but it just doesn't fit very well for a baby shower, IMO. That's why I like the bear, it seems more appropriate yet still contemporary. I also like the "it's a girl" going down the side, lol.
  20. Bitter Creek has some. They're the size of a mini muffin. Says they hold a little less than one ounce. Both gold and silver.
  21. They're all very cute, but I vote for the one with the bear.
  22. I'd dump out some melted wax. Might throw off your testing a bit, but it'll get your flame back.
  23. I think it should be common business sense not to get e-mail addresses in this manner. I'd have to be pretty desperate to do that myself. I certainly wouldn't join, say, a mom's board and then e-mail everyone whose e-mail I could find to get them to buy my candles. If I were the only one, I would have just deleted it. But I wasn't the only one, and I think our great CT members have the right to be made aware. When you get junk e-mail that seems to target you or what you do, you begin to wonder where it's coming from. If they didn't know about it, the very least they could do is apologize. Obviously they're on this board, so they most likely know about this thread. Would only take a bit of humility and a minute or two.
  24. Yep, just what I thought. I won't buy from a company that resorts to spam e-mail. It's not that difficult to advertise on here in a nice, friendly manner.
  25. FOs do often smell different in wax than OOB, one reason a lot of people say not to judge a scent until you get it in wax. Most of my scents fill the room when I add it to wax, some bother me. Some scents just tend to linger longer than others too. Try a smaller percentage of FO next time and see if it helps, sounds like a nice strong FO you got there.
