  1. I just noticed that WSP doesn't charge for shipping over $25 in your basket but they charge a handling fee. I signed up on their site so I can earn coupons so hopefully that will make it less costly to order from them. Any tips or secrets here?
  2. Just wondering if you purchase most of your FO's from WSP? Their prices are quite a bit higher than I'm used to paying but I'll splurge if I can use less and get more ROI.
  3. I just think that letting those little buggers sit there for a while and settle in makes for a better candle. After all you're taking 2 different materials (wax and FO) and bringing them together--always good to let them get to know each other a bit. I don't have a hard and fast rule on the 2 weeks but it has just become habit. I do see changes within those 2 weeks i.e. CT that just needs time to evolve. Patience truly is a candle crafting virtue
  4. make your life easier and try the Ky parasoy tart and votive blend from RE---you won't look back.
  5. Thank you so much for the review! I use 6096 but I can't afford to waste time or $$ with scents that don't do their job. Sorry it didn't work out :-((
  6. My favorite fo from FC is Eucalyptus and Spearmint--it is divine and I love it more every time I use it. It's a great seller in my 6006 candles and my Ky melts. #2 seller is Tobacco and Caramel #3 is Karma. All are fabulous in their own right. Just sayin'
  7. I just made some melts with the Tarocco Orange last weekend and that is a FANTASTIC scent!!! Very fresh and true orange scent--love it. The Lemon Lavender is a different story. When I went to my candle making journal and found the entry for a test candle with that scent all I wrote was "this stinks-don't buy this again". There you have it. I'm glad I keep notes and reviews on scents or I'd forget which ones are stinkers.
  8. I have ordered from JS a few times and haven't experienced any glaring problems yet. I don't want to have to find out for myself so could you please elaborate as to why you think their oils are "less than stellar"? Thanks!!
  9. I use 6006 but I don't add anything to it so I can't speak to that part of your recipe. That seems to be a very large wick for that size container. I use a CD 10 in the 8 oz tins when I make them for tester candles for my customer and that burns great.
  10. I have my customer "trained" to place orders with me before she runs out so that I'm not rushing to get them poured. I find that when that happens I feel VERY stressed and I don't enjoy the process near as much. She knows that I like to have a 2 1/2 week notice for making her orders and she thinks that's just fine-she actually respects the process now that she knows how it works on my side of things. We are now in the process of determining a base permanent scent list that I can make and store inventory for and then add scents for seasonal/holiday add ons.
  11. Trappeur, I have the Marshmallows by the Campfire in my cart from Oregon Trails and am waiting breathlessly for your review before I purchase!!
  12. I like to give my candles the time they need to figure out who they are and most of them can accomplish that in 2 weeks. When I deliver an order to my specialty market customer I feel confident that the candles look and smell their best and they will only improve from there.
  13. I wait a week to test the wick and I allow 2 weeks for cure time
  14. I use 6006 but I use CD wicks; from what you're saying it seems that your wick is just too small or maybe it's just not the right type of wick. Have you tried the CD's?
  15. if you make these cocoons, just hit the Walmart or Joanne's remnant bin and check for felt.
  16. fo ho's.............that's classic I'm a fo ho fo sho!!!!!
  17. Very cool and glad it worked!!! Let us know your process for this please
  18. So, after reading this post I ordered some FO's from Community; they are my supplier for my 11 oz tumblers so I figured, what's the harm in ordering a few FO's from them to take for a spin? Well, OOB, the Coffee and Doughnuts is AMAZING!!!! I don't usually like bakery scents but this is intoxicating. It's not sweet---it's perfect. I can't wait to put in in some wax!! I also ordered: (these reviews are all OOB): 1.) Tuscan Lemon Blossom--also fabulous. A warm, lemony scent that doesn't smell like candy-more layered and complex than just a simple lemon. 2.) Cucumber Sea Salt--a bit like Cucumber and Green Tea but somehow lighter and fresher. Fantastic. 3.) Sage and Citrus-the jury (me) is out on this one. Leans a bit toward "soapy" but a nice, clean scent. I'll see how it does in wax. No more ordering of the FO's!!! Who am I kidding????!!!!
  19. Thanks!! Now that I make sure they are pulled all the way to the top of the glass when the candles are cooling I don't get the waxy ring anymore and never, ever any wet spots.
  20. I have to agree that Light My Fire is the best--well, I'm biased since that's my handle on this forum
  21. That was my thread regarding keeping the wick centered when cooling. This is a cool idea! I use little silver hair clips to hold my wick in place. I'm going to think about your contraption and see how I can use it. Thanks!
  22. Thanks! I'll have to see if I can find the adjusters. I purchased the medium variety and they're too small for my 11 oz tumblers 😞 I might order the large but I might just have to stay with my popsicle stick and clip system and keep a closer eye on the movement after pouring.
