  1. That's so sweet! I think a white cake fragrance is a good choice. A champagne fragrance might be nice too. Or a floral bouquet. I believe quite a few suppliers also carry a "Wedding Day" FO.
  2. They are so pretty!! I keep going back and forth too. I always color my Palm wax candles, because I love the way it looks with the crystal pattern. Regarding the sales, I think it really just depends on what goes with your brand, scents, labels, etc.
  3. It sure is! If you search "4794" in the Wickless section, a lot of great conversations about that wax will pop up.
  4. I have, but obviously I need to read it a few more times, lol. I haven't been able to find CSN by the spool, nor wick pins for anything larger than a votive cup. Have you rigged something? Or am I just not looking hard enough? πŸ˜„
  5. Are you working with crystal pillar or feather pillar? I have just started playing with crystal pillar, and it's like I have never made a candle before, lol. So far I've used HTP wicks, and cotton core wicks. Sizing is not at all what I expected. And throw is terrible (no doubt wicking being off is to blame). But they sure are fun to make, and they look absolutely stunning!
  6. I totally understand, that's why I threw in the towel early on with soy, for me it just wasn't worth the struggle. I have been trying a couple different wicks with this container palm, just to see what they do, but personally I think the CSN performs the best and that is my #1 choice for wicking palm. I haven't done any testing with CDs though, so I couldn't give you a comparison. I use 6% too, and not every oil will throw well. But to be fair, the ones I have that didn't throw also performed poorly in the CBL 125, and we all know I consider that to be the gold standard of wax. Just typing some thoughts here, it may also be the 9oz jar to blame. I have a 8oz glass tumbler that I pour beverage-scented Palm candles in, scents like Caramel Latte, Pumpkin Chai, Mulled Cider... All super strong oils that throw great. But darned if those tumblers have a pitiful HT! They look fantastic, but I tell everyone that they are best as accent candles, and they shouldn't rely on them to scent a whole room. Now, I have a 16oz straight jar, it's not much taller, but it's wider, and the same FO will fill my living room. Put the same FO in a 16oz salsa jar, and it's filling my whole bottom floor. So anecdotally, I think the wider jars significantly improve the HT. More so (again, anecdotally) than you would find with a paraffin wax. That is purely speculation on my part though.
  7. How long are you curing for? It needs a good two weeks, minimum. Also, the wick has got to be hot, hot, hot, if it's the least bit under wicked the throw will be dismal. It's definitely fussier than paraffin, but once you really get a feel for how it burns it gets a lot easier to produce an excellent candle. I was testing for at least four months before I felt competent.
  8. 8% fragrance should give you a good HT, although of course every oil is different. Remember also that natural waxes need a cure to perform their best. Even in a blend, I would still give candles a good week or more to cure before testing.
  9. I love the butterflies!!! β€οΈπŸ’›πŸ’šπŸ’™πŸ’œ So cheerful and pretty! Boy, that red is intense, I can't wait to see the cut!
  10. I was just telling my friend whom I bought that FO for last year, that I had still had a bit left over to make a spring candle for her. That Pink Lilac is such a great spring fragrance!
  11. That makes so much more sense! 😁 I was having a heck of a time finding anything on 474! In that case, yes, the 6213 and 464 should make a very nice container candle. I would start with a 50/50 blend of each, and adjust from there according to your tastes. I think you will like the HTP wicks, I use them in my containers, and I think they are a great wick. I try not to let the lean bother me, lol. For your further research, I would suggest reading forum topics on IGI 4630, as it seems similar to the 6213. And IGI 6006 is a parrafin/soy blend that I think will perform similarly to your proposed blend. Good luck and have fun!
  12. From what I gathered from a quick search, the 6213 seems to be a soft parrafin container blend, likely similar to our 4630 here in the US. The 474 (which has very little info to go on!), seems to be a soy blend designed for votives, but not quite hard enough to be considered a pillar wax. I guess GW must not offer that in the US anymore? I didn't find much info on it. So my question from here would be what are you hoping to achieve with this blend? It's likely they will blend well together, people blend soy and parrafin all the time. But without know what end result you're looking for, it's difficult to say if those specific waxes will meet your needs.
  13. Susan is a gem! I happily pay the $1 a month to subscribe to her new blog!
  14. Me too! I am pretty picky about skinfeel, so I love being able to make custom lotions and butters for myself. I am not a fan of the anhydrous butters, but as stated above Bramble Berry and WSP have an extensive library of recipes.
  15. Are you looking to make a body butter that is anhydrous (all oils)? Or do you want one that includes water and an emulsifier?
  16. As others have stated, that is super over wicked. I would try an HTP 83 with that wax and jar.
  17. Paraffin wax. I love CW's blends. I have been wanting to get some 4627 to play with though. 😁
  18. Sorry, I order mine from SOS or BCN. I like both of their charcoal sticks, and I've always been pleased with the quality. My only beef is that BCN is constantly OOS. I have also used the punk sticks from BCN and I like them, but gosh, the bottom stick part is so long! I have looked but haven't been able to find other suppliers that sell them for recreational use (i.e., orders smaller than 500 million sticks, lol).
  19. My daughter loves the Moonlit Path from CW. ETA: I use it in her shampoo and conditioner, and her hair smells wonderful. It is also a powerhouse in paraffin wax melts. But I haven't tried it in CP soap, so I couldn't tell you how it behaves. Sorry! But if you got 8oz to play with, I am sure you would not regret the purchase!
  20. I would change An Affair to Remember to Booty Call. πŸ˜‚ Oh snap, now I really want to use that name somehow! I have Suede too, and I'll definitely want to rename that one. Not sure what though. I like names that are a little risquΓ©. Maybe "Rub Down" or "Soft Touch". Or "Hot Guy in a Fleece Robe". Ok, the last one was too wordy. But you see where I'm going with that. πŸ˜‰
  21. Oh girl, that's a good challenge! I would need to quit my day job to have enough time to make it though. Seems like a MP layered heart embed inside a tube with CP would do it, then roll it in cosmetic glitter or something. I could see @Jcandleattic doing something magnificent with this. 😁
  22. I can't agree with this more. I save the luxurious oils for leave-on products. Why wash all that money and nutrients down the drain? I personally love tallow, rice bran oil, coconut oil, and a bit (tiny bit!) of cocoa butter. A great vegan option would be palm, olive, rice bran, and a bit (tiny bit!) of macadamia oil. Really simple is better with soap. I personally love kaolin clay in my soap, but I have oily skin, and I sweat at ton at my job. Yes! I love the exotic butters in my lotion formulas, so luxurious!
  23. Their Bombshell type is strong in parrafin and palm. Very much a perfume type! I haven't smelled the original, so I couldn't tell you if it's close though. Vanilla Verbena is lovely and I'm told it's spot-on by a BBW fan. I've been using it in soap and lotion. I just put it in paraffin a few days ago, the CT is moderate but very nice. Fig Henri Bendel did not smell good to me, but I have no idea what the original is supposed to smell like. It was sweet but musty, it didn't smell like figs, but I'm not sure what it did smell like. Sorry I can't be more help there! I have not tried the Black dupe from CW, but I do use the one from NG, and that one is blow-the-doors-off strong!
  24. HI! I'm from MD too, in Washington county. Whereabouts are you? Birthday candles like the mini tapers? Or novelty shapes? I have never thought of making that kind of candle, but it seems like something fun to try!
  25. I would be over the moon if someone got me a vessel from here: https://woodenwick.com/product-category/unique-vessels/ Truly unique and beautiful products. I think this is a very nice wick trimmer: https://www.fillmorecontainer.com/wtmb-eachaccess.html and they also have a nice wick dipper as well. For containers, avoid anything thin or fragile, like wine glasses, and personally I wouldn't get anything common like a mason jar or apothecary jar, because they're .... common, lol. Sometimes you can get lovely cut glass vessels at flea markets or antique stores, but that's a bit of a gamble because you don't know if they will be able to withstand the high temp of melted wax without shattering. A beautiful hand thrown pottery piece might be a good option. For wick trimmers and/or dippers, it's similar to buying scissors. Good quality metal, and a nice finish is a plus. You could try looking on Etsy, there might be some cute sets or something on there. Maybe some other people will chime in with more ideas.
