  1. That is so sweet! I would suggest a nice metal wick trimmer and a wick dipper with a pretty glass jar ( or other fire/heat proof container) for her to make a special candle in. A good jar can be reused many times, so she will have many opportunities to light it and think of your kindness. You could probably get the wick dipper engraved like you did with the scissors, since they are metal. Good luck!
  2. That is such a great idea! Adds so much value to opening a wholesale account with you, that's a really nice touch!
  3. I think the licorice is pretty strong. It's not ALL that you smell, but it is definitely one of the predominant notes.
  4. New fragrances?? Oh boy, I need to check out the Burbon for sure! Witche's Brew comes on strong with the patchouli in front, and top notes of citrus, then it mellows out to a black licorice base with just a tiny hint of clove. You can't judge this one OOB or even on the cold throw, you have to warm it up to get all the layers. I have been using it in a lotion too, as an alternative to straight patch. I imagine it's what the sexy witches in Nora Robert's novels smell like! 🔮 I haven't used a Lick me from any other suppliers, but I really love the way this smells. It smells like candy, but also a little bit like a perfume too. I think it must have some musk or maybe a little Amber in it. It reminds me of the way Pink Sugar smells like cotton candy, but also a cologne. It does not smell like PS though, much fruitier and a little sharper, but still very sweet. I hope that made sense! Lol! Both the WB and the Lick Me are very strong!
  5. That does sound like fun! I would think a votive or pillar parrafin would be best, you'll need something durable. As a consumer, I would enjoy pretty colors and fragrances to match! Pretty shapes too!
  6. Wouldn't that just be a dome? 😂 Sorry, I haven't seen anything like that. But seriously, why not use a dome, and make a little belly button on it? Or put like a seed or something on it to make it an "outie"? IDK, I'm just throwing some ideas out there. 😁
  7. I agree with the others, if I called it anything, I would call it a "custom blend". But even that might be confusing, and that could potentially lose you customers. It would be different if you were on hand to explain the awesomeness of your waxes, but this sounds like a wholesale account. When your product is in the hands of another, the less that needs explaining the better.
  8. I recently ordered a few oils from them based on @Marleigha's reccomendations. So far I have only put Suede in palm tarts and Lick Me All Over in a candle, but both are incredibly strong and smell amazing! Her Witch's Brew is fantastic, and smells fantastic in lotion and body spray. Oh, I forgot that I put Bergamot Tobacco in palm tarts too! That is also super strong and really good. It reminds me of RE's Havanna Nights, but more of a day wear fragrance if that makes sense. PFO definitely has fantastic oils!
  9. I've used up to 7% with Palm wax, although it starts to mess with the wicking that high. When I backed down to 6%, the throw was still great. That's with Crystal palm though, I'm not sure if feather is different.
  10. If it’s burned more than halfway down, I would be concerned that the data is not accurate. We know that wick behavior changes as the wax burns down. But it might give you a better idea for the right wick when you do re-pour it. So I don’t think it would be useless, but you’ll want to re-test with a full jar at some point.
  11. It's really good Trapp! Check out their Sweet Bakery Bread too, it's not quite like a sugar cookie, but it's very sweet and cozy, just like a soft white roll with a crusty sugary crust. It's wonderful to burn as a compliment to a strong bakery FO like the Strudel.
  12. Soap: CP soap: about 40% animal fats, 60% veggie fats fo load:5% lye solution: 30% cp op (I always do), no addatives acceleration: no discoloration: yes, dark beown morphing: yes, plastic smelling after cure dry throw: moderate (and yucky) wet throw: moderate (and yucky) I was so sad, this just didn't do well in cp soap for me. Luckily, there is M&P! Soap: M&P soap: NG crystal clear base (which wasn't crystal clear, btw) fo load: 3% addatives: 5% cocoa butter, 25% liquid oils, 50% raw sugar* discoloration: dark brown dry throw: super strong wet throw: super strong *This was an amazing solid sugar scrub. The sugar and the cocoa butter took the fragrance to the next level! Soooo good! I didn't even care that it turned a horrid brown! lotion, perfume, etc. : yes, all of it! Super strong in lotion at 1%, wonderful perfume at 10%
  13. Candles: wax: CBL-125 fo load: 7% wicking: went up one size container: glass, 8oz jelly cure time: about 48 hrs CT: very good HT: very good* *This is a very nice dupe, subtle and lovely, but not weak. I like to mix it with just a bit of Amber or musk to give it some punch. I highly recommend it as a non-bakery or foodie vanilla. Tarts: wax: KY 133 fo load: 8% molds: Sillicone shapes cure: 48 hrs CT: strong HT: moderately strong, long lasting* *great as a background scent.
  14. Candles: wax used: CBL-125 fo load: 7% wicking: standard, didn't need to go up or down container: glass, 16oz straight and 8oz jelly cure time: about 24 hours CT: super strong HT: super super strong* *Wow, this one is so good! It's sweet and green, and much better than I expected. It is good alone, and fantastic as a mixer. I have used it in several blends, and it took just ok oils to outstanding levels. incense: charcoal sticks FO/DPG 50/50 dried min. 5 days CT: very strong HT: strong, clean, no morphing
  15. Wax tarts: wax used: The Candle Source's tart blend FO load : 8% molds: Sillicone shapes cure time: 48 hours min CT: moderate to poor HT: moderate* * I know this is a popular FO, but it just didn't do it for me. It was sweet and a little smokey, but faint once I got it in wax. The throw was only ok. I got this FO as a sample in 2017.
  16. ICS has a wonderful cinnamon strudel. That could be a good foundation for you. Which notes do you want to dominate?
  17. Oh, your original question - would a narrower clip for a conventional wooden wick assembly work? I don't use wood wicks, I'm just throwing that out there for speculation.
  18. Those are really cool wicks! Your candles look beautiful! Are you using different fragrance oils for your candles? The fragrance oil can have a huge impact on how your candle burns. And some throw better than others. I am not a big fan of soy either. I lack the patience to make a nice soy candle. 😄
  19. Soap: CP soap, about 40% animal fats, 60% veggie fats FO load: 5% Lye solution 30% soaped about 100*, no crazy addatives acceleration: no discoloration: yes, light tan morphing: it definitely flattened out a bit, but was still nice dry throw: moderate wet throw: good I used this in lotion and body butter as well, with much better results. As a perfume, it may require a fixative for optimum performance.
  20. Candles: wax: CBL-125 & Soy 125 mix wicking: wicked up a size FO load: 6% jar: small toddler jar cure time: about 48 hr CT: okay HT: okay* *This is a unique fragrance (IMO), with top notes of citrus, an opium and myrrh heart, and a spicy base. OOB is it very strong and a wonderful incense-type fragrance. It just did not deliver in wax. I tried it in the wax melter as well (same wax as above), and still lackluster HT. However, it did not morph at all, so it may be worth a try in a different wax/wick/jar combo. incense: DPG/FO: 50/50 charcoal sticks dried about 1 week before lighting CT: moderate HT: moderate, did not morph* *Again, under delivered on its OOB promises. I bought this in 2017, as an 8oz bottle
  21. Wax melts: wax: CBL-141, KY 133 fo load: 8% molds: silicone molds, individual shapes CT: very strong HT: very strong*, long lasting * I was really on the fence about this one at first, but I have grown to love the fragrance. It is heavy on the cotton candy, and the heart reminds me of licorice. RE's version of this dupe is strong and excellent, but sweeter than others, IMO. incense: 50/50 DPG/FO charcoal sticks 1 week cure before lighting CT: super strong HT: super strong and accurate* *Awesome inscence, fragrance does not morph at all, really strong! I got this FO in 2017 as a sample.
  22. I've never tried palm in tins either, just glass. It does burn downward more than outward though.
  23. I love the Falling Leaves from RE. I added just a teeny bit of Dirt, and it is spot-on for a fall day.
  24. It can take 4-5 different wicks to get the right one for my usual container with my paraffin wax. If I can't get it in that size range, I give up on the oil. But I do have every size of HTP and CSN, and several sizes of Premier and cotton core, because I use different types of wax, and I have a few different containers that I like. And I like to use unusual containers for my personal candles.
  25. Idk @Trappeur, MLM is very complex. I think if you mix it with anything it will change the fragrance notes significantly. If I had to mix it with anything, I would try a plain musk, or a powdery lavender (like a vanilla lavender, not a camphorus one).
