  1. I'm incredibly happy for the EBB owners that they were given a price they couldn't refuse. Too bad it was WSP who made the offer--they're the Walmart of the FO world. Small sellers close up shop, they change the quality and price, and then convince the masses we're fortunate to have them since there aren't other options in our area. Not a fan.
  2. Additional issues occur when the fragrance in the melt pool burns off a bit/off-gases. Throw will diminish a bit going forward. Not to mention the probable jar temps--if you don't have an IR thermometer, get one.
  3. My experience is that coconut blends need to be HEATED to fully incorporate the fragrance and achieve optimum throw. Your mileage may vary
  4. I'd be in on this, even though work only gives me time to be a hobbyist. I'm increasingly tired of seeing WSP buy suppliers and discontinue my favorite FOs.
  5. I'd been trying to convince them to sell me their remaining sample of WYW Goddess so I could dupe it for myself for several years. Talked with their manager yesterday, and she says it doesn't exist. Waiting to hear back from Rich to see if he has something squirreled away. That FO is my white whale.
  6. I'm curious what your notes and test results show. I hope you tested it before selling.
  7. There's a home for everyone's goodies. A bit of an odd choice to sell handmade goods online to DIY-ers, but if it works, it works. Good for them.
  8. Hi, Emeli. This portion of the message board is referencing fragrance oils of the type that are utilized in candle/wax melt/bath and body manufacturing for craftspeople and small retailers. I think you're trying to ascertain if a perfume you purchased is real or counterfeit. I've seen discussions of this nature on Fragrantica, Facebook, and in some of the fragrance subs on Reddit.
  9. You're welcome. I've been a hobbyist (briefly for profit) since the early 2000s, and I fully understand.
  10. It appears Keystone carries both. I can't vouch for exact formulation, but they did buy many of the manufacturer codes back in the day.
  11. Love their Petrichor. Waxy Flower used to be AAA, if memory serves--if so, I liked the scents I tried ages ago.
  12. Keystone Candles has quite a few of Peak's old offerings. Scentsational Soap Supplies has a few as well. Which one are you specifically trying to find?
  13. We chatted a bit back in April when I bought a pound of everything she had in stock at the time. She had to replace her primary supplier and was being forced to have her FOs reformulated. I hope she does reopen in October--her FOs are fabulous. That said, the whole reason I bought a pound of everything was because she was out of stock on so many things, and I got nervous. I wanted to have her FO in stock to dupe if she closed the doors.
  14. I currently have several of her oils in perfume base for personal use.
  15. I don't apologize if I've offended anyone who uses botanicals in candles. I'm not sorry if their feelings are hurt. Better to have hurt feelings than injured or dead children and pets. Don't do it. It's not worth harming someone. Do. Not. Do. It.
  16. Please don't confuse "kindness" with "being nice". I'm personally okay with it being considered nasty to tell someone their wicks are off-center, which is going to create burn issues, and they need to reconsider using pics that showcase those flaws. It's in a similar vein to telling someone that using botanicals on top of a candle may cause a fire and they should invest in purchasing ASTM standards, insurance, and testing. Is it nice? No--that would be telling someone they're wonderful and perfect to gain friends and internet points. Is it kind? Absolutely--you're pointing out common issues that you may have had yourself along with the potential ramifications. You risk upsetting someone because they've worked long and hard to get to that point, but you have your own conscience to deal with if you don't speak up.
  17. So many times this. Safety standards, ASTM, NFPA, OSHA, etc., are written in the blood of people who have been injured, killed, or suffered significant property damage due to the very things in these standards. Just because you've gotten by so far doesn't mean it can't happen to your product. I'm sure the products that had incidents and caused the standards to be written were perfectly fine without incident...until they weren't. Not only from a product liability, insurance, and financial standpoint, folks need to decide if they're ethically willing to risk someone's life with some flaky little flower bits. Can you live with setting someone's home, pet, or child on fire just for a pretty candle? If not, don't do it.
  18. You and TallTayl hit the nail on the head. I simply don't trust Amazon anymore. There is such an increase in counterfeit items and fly-by-night sellers that I rarely shop there anymore. (Prime Video and buying my HVAC filters--oddball size--is essentially all I buy there with rare occasion.) Wicking is hard enough with batch variances from reputable sellers. You don't need to add additional unknowns into the equation.
  19. I'd been playing around a bit with Wooden Wick's hemp soy. Last time I'd purchased a slab in August, it was $38.95. Today, it's $53.96, sale priced. I'm trying to not buy the beeswax coco, since I've been playing around a bit with self-blending something. I have a different take than most. Because prices are increasing, this is going to begin limiting the individuals who are making and selling as a hobby--they're going to be priced out soon. Reduced competition can ultimately be a good thing for those who are able to capitalize on market share.
  20. If it's something that matters, I move it into amber glass. If I don't care if it goes rancid, it can stay in floppy plastic indefinitely.
  21. It's my experience that coconut wax needs to be heated to 200-225*. I don't know how it's impacted by the soy, but coconut blends are finicky beasts.
  22. I feel like we're reaching the point that if we're doing this as a business instead of a hobby, it may be in our own best interests to narrow our product lines, duplicate it, and own the FO codes.
  23. IIRC, CS ships in plastic bottles. You may want to transfer it to an amber glass bottle to help prevent FO from leeching into the bottles and the plastic to leeching into your FO.
