  1. The only lilac that worked for me in parasoy is Sweetcakes..I have not tried Backwoods, though...have tried most everyone else. I would love to know if anyone has found lavender similar to Tennessee True Lavender....
  2. For me, CS is a bit stronger but BW is slightly nicer scent (MacApple)...parasoy.
  3. Great, thank you, TallTayl! I never would have thought of that :). I'll try it!
  4. Pure Fragrance Oils have the same style, at least for 1 pounds and 3 pounds (I haven't gotten a 5 lb from them). I love the little one pounders :). The worst is Bulk Apothecary...I have only gotten one pound oils from them but they are in a metal container with a horrible opening...you cannot pour at all from this, you have to use a pipette every time. The mess in the photo is from pouring the first time I used this...wasted a bunch of oil, too ). Stupid move. And, despite their claims to be super concentrated, they are like anybody else, some are super strong and some regular. I found most were "regular" and needed too long of a cure time for not the greatest scents. (That said, I do use a few that are surprisingly good).
  5. Bonfire Bliss is super strong for me...I don't like it, myself, but others do!
  6. oops...my mistake..."Smokey Mountain Pine" is what I've got!
  7. I have a Northwoods Christmas sample bottle...will have to try that one, too! I really love pine scents...good to know some of you like it!
  8. I am going to test Pure Fragrance Rocky Mountain Pine this month...oob it is wonderful...
  9. I've been using PPW from Fragrance Buddy...the only other one I've tried was from Tennessee. For me, TN had better CT but HT from FB is better for me. It throws well but it's not a heavy scent. I thought they smelled a bit different from each other, too...Tennessee had a cinnamon note which I don't get from FB. I don't know what it supposed to smell like, though, since I've only smelled these two and not even the original! I've seen people here recommending Indiana Candle Supply for PPW...some of their oils are strong so I might try their PPW sometime.
  10. I can smell fruit and citrus in EBB and I can't smell any citrus in Fillmore's Citrus Spruce. Both are nice and fresh-smelling, though!
  11. What about Bartlett Pear from Candlewic vs Bartlett Pear from Peak? Usually, Peak fo's are duds in my wax but I am just melting Bartlett Pear (Peak) today and it is quite strong and good. Candlewic's was good, too, but my samples are all gone so I can't compare directly. They are slightly different. I loved Candlewic but my dh thought it was just ok and same with Peak (he says he doesn't like pear but does like Sweet Yellow Pear from SC, which is different). I did try Bulk Apothecary and it didn't throw at all. If anyone is willing to share what you prefer or your customers prefer, I'd be grateful! I think Peak has a bit of spice and richness compared to to CW which was a "thinner" sort of scent (but still very strong in throw). Any opinions? I love pear but can't seem to decide!
  12. Beautiful list! I love pine ... I need to make some pine soap for my family... one of their favorites in soap! I feel like Fillmore's Citrus Spruce is very similar to their Christmas Tree. The citrus is not noticeable to me. My family liked the Citrus Spruce better in soap than the Christmas Tree. So, for pines, I use Citrus Spruce instead of Christmas Tree. I am also doing Blue Spruce (CS), Balsam & Citrus (EBB) (it is different from Citrus Spruce), Pinecones (CS ... fresh and soapy but I love it), and I have my own version of Mistletoe (CS was a little stinky in my wax). I make tarts in a parasoy blend. I am going to add more pines. My tests of Rocky Mountains Flicker (EBB), Christmas Hearth (CS), and Main Street Christmas (RE) are promising. Of course, I will have to try the Frasier Fir from WSP sometime, as well!
  13. I did like Baking Cupcakes...turned slightly plastic but I am going to try blending it sometime...I have a devil of a time with cake scents.
  14. I just tested the Peach & Sweet Berries today! Nice and strong and fresh...had too much of a tart lemon note in my wax. I think it would be a winner in a different blend. I am definitely going to try the Smoked Birch someday. I also test melted Bananas & Cream today. My husband liked it a lot and I liked it, too, but neither of us smelled much banana. He said it was a nice "bakery" scent. To me, it was a slightly caramelized cream scent. Strong, too. Canella Bark sounds interesting!
  15. Well, I only have about 1 oz left . I was going to use it up in some soap for myself but maybe I should keep it for duping purposes! I just cannot find another starfruit that I'm really crazy about.
  16. I've only tried the Butt Naked from your list, Sugarfoot! It is fantastic. Good luck! I'd love to know how the Mango Papaya is. Actually, I'd love to try everything on your list....

    Tart burners

I think the Glade hotplates are good for FO testing...you can get them at Walmart or some grocery stores. They are 20 watts and are what a lot of people use and are only about $10. . If you or your friends/customers do have a 24watt burner, you know you will get a great throw in that if you have a good throw on the 20watt burner.
  18. I can't use FIrefox for Daystar...but IE works for me.
  19. Thanks, Moonstar. Do you use parasoy? How long is your oldest melt made with the CS dye chips?
  20. I would like to try some liquid dye for my parasoy melts. Are there any that affect the scent in parasoy? And/or the scent retention? I used wax dye chips last year and I am pretty sure that they caused my melts to lose scent over time. My dyed melts from 8 months ago seem to be not as strong as my undyed melts. That said, I only have a very few that are that old to test, though - so maybe I am being paranoid or it is due to maybe I did something different on the days I poured dyed wax....I don't remember anymore. I use very minimal amount of color...pastel intensity only. Anyone have any experience/opinions on this? I used mostly Candle Cocoon's Dye Crystals which I really love using. Anyone else use these dye crystals? I used a few from Peak and Tennessee, also, but mostly Candle Cocoon. I am considering ordering Cajun's set of dyes. Thanks for any info!
  21. Are there any glitters that should not be used in melts? I am going to try Rustic Escentuals shimmer dust glitter, maybe, since the site specifically says it can be used for wax and soy. Other vendors have cosmetic grade glitter but don't mention wax. I've emailed a few to ask but often don't get a reply or a definitive reply since soap is their main area of expertise. Can I assume that "cosmetic grade glitter" is also fine for wax? Thanks for any help!
  22. It is one of my favorite scents! So fruity and good!
  23. Thanks, Belinda! I've only tried the sugared Pumpkin Doughnut out of your list...it had a light "burnt" scent in my wax so I don't use it (not really bad but not quite right :)). I never liked pumpkin scents much in the past, but once I started making my own tarts, I found some I really love! I think I will go for the cupcakes...FB birthday cake throws phenomenally for me so maybe the Pumpkin cupcake will follow suit.
  24. I have a lot of pumpkin scents but am am always testing more. I really like Fragrance Buddy's Pumpkin Pecan Waffles in my wax...good throw but not overpowering so the fragrance stays nice. Has anyone compared their Pumpkin Pecan Waffles to their Pumpkin Cupcakes? I am wondering how different they are. I'm tempted to order 16 oz instead of a sample since the 8 oz is on sale and I am almost at free shipping!. Thanks for any info!
  25. I like Oregon Trail Toasted Marshmallow & Hot Cocoa. Light thrower for my wax but could be a good component. Bonfire Bliss, to me, is its own scent and very sweet. Good luck!
