  1. Thanks, Old Glory! I do love that Hayride from BCN...it is different, though. Sweet Annie has no floral. It is like a unique, sweet sweetgrass scent. I've tried every sweetgrass and hay scent out there, I think! Just not the same . I have some Sweetcakes Hermes Merveilleux, too, TallTayl, but haven't tried it yet. I did do the Fracas deluxe in perfume (spray) ...I didn't like it (quality seemed good but not my thing) but one of my friends LOVES it. It smells like seeds to me. I also did Aria and it was a bit yucky in soap and wax but nice in perfume (solid). I was going to toss it until I tried it in perfume.
  2. I love vetiver, though !. The Sweet Annie tarts I used to buy are supposed to be the scent of dried Sweet Annie plant...it is an herb that is sweet and dry...the tart was so refreshing but also very unlike any other scent. Definitely not a lemon or lemon verbena. Along the lines of dried hay but still different. The candlemaker discontinued it and would not divulge where where the oil was procured (Scentsible Scents). I guess Sweet Annie was not popular but it was the "perfect" scent to me. I bought the last of their supply a few years ago. I'll report back on the Jo Malones...the Grapefruit is one of my favorite perfume scents. I got Orange Blossom and Vanilla Anise (which is candle-only). I have a Vanilla Anise candle and it does not throw at all in my house. I smelled it burning in a boutique once and it was so nice that I splurged on a candle. What a waste of money....at least it was not one of the larger ones!
  3. I'm with you on Hotel Costes lol! Thanks for the tip about AFI. I just ordered some samples - I got some Jo Malones to try in perfumes :). Got my fingers crossed for those!! If my business ever gets big enough, I am going to ask them to duplicate "Sweet Annie" for me. I have two tarts left from a candle place. I sent some out to a smaller FO supplier a fewmonths ago but they said they could not dupe it :(. I have to add that I emailed a question to AFI and they responded within 5 minutes!
  4. I use parasoy (tarts) and lots of The Candle Source throw great for me. Two of my favorites (with killer throw) have been discontinued in the last year, though ...they are Blackberry Cobbler and Starfruit and Mango. I have not found any others that are similar, unfortunately. Starfruit and Mango from NG was not nearly the same as TCS's. So frustrating. Anyway, to answer the original question, the quality is outstanding and I always have more hits than misses from TCS. Sample sizes are only $1.50, which is great.
  5. Thanks, Old Glory!! If they did the codes instead of "duping", it would be great. I only have two FO's from Aztec that work for me so I don't use them...if they had those exact Tennessee FO's I would order more from Aztec. Thanks for the tip about AFI. I will have to try them sometime. I use Tennessee Sugar Cookie because it is the only one that is not yucky in my wax. It is not that strong but it is the best scent for me. FB Sugar Cookie Royale is strong but not quite right in my wax. I guess I am the only one here voting for Cinnamon Stick .... it is in some of my house blends
  6. The Candle Source has one-ouncers for $1.50 all of the time...and Indiana Candle Supply has one-ouncers for $1.75 (they offer a money-saving set of 10 oils that are less than $15.95 per pound and another set of 10 for oils that are more then $15.95 per pound...but that set is more expensive than buying the oils individually!).
  7. So, fwiw, if there is anyone out there collecting info on Tennessee oils, the ones I think are unique and would love to buy again are: Buttercream (I love Daystar's doesn't throw in my melts:( ) Cinnamon Stick Peach Magnolia Raspberry Pina Colada (the only one I've tried hat smells good in my wax) I think i got their last bottle Sugar Cookie Tangerine Dream (but I will be trying NG, thanks for the tip, Belinda!) ... so many orange scents smell weird in my wax but this one was great This Old House True Lavender
  8. I think it would be a great business venture! Quite a few of their oils for me are unique and throw so well in my wax tarts. Argh. True Lavender is one ... and Tennessee Buttercream is the ONLY buttercream that works for me. It would be great if someone could continue the business. I was just about to place a very large order as I've finished testing for a new line and Tennessee figured heavily. I ordered what I could but it was not enough. Such a bummer. If the business would continue, I'd be thrilled. I am skeptical of an existing FO supplier duplicating their oils because I've found several companies' FO's as a whole just don't work for me. Their oil formulations just don't work in my wax. That said, can anyone recommend a lavender that is the same as Tennessee True Lavender?? I've tested so many and this is everyone's favorite and in several of my house blends
  9. Also, I get different "scents" from different waxes. I have had several fragrance oils that smelled remarkedly different in my old wax blend than in my new wax blend, even though the blends are 90% identical to each other. Strength varies, too...Sweetcakes and Candlescience Love Spell smell about the same to me but Sweetcakes is a bit stronger...but Candlescience is a lot cheaper.
  10. I've been waiting a few weeks for back-stock, too....I am looking at alternatives, though...it is really terrible for Karen and others who really need their inventory to be consistent! I feel so badly for you!
  11. That is a sad story . Your idea to raise money for them is wonderful, though! I don't have any suggestions but I think DS Rebel Yell is supposed to be like Lush Vanillery (haven't tried it myself, though). Caribbean Teakwood (CS) might fit the bill...fresh and different, at least to me!
  12. Are Bulk Apothecary fragrance oils really as concentrated (for wax) as they claim? I've tried just about everyone else and no one has oils that are across the board more concentrated than other suppliers...even though some claim they are more concentrated. Except for Candle Cocoon. With their oils, I did have to cut back the percentage on at least 3/4 of their oils (but that still leaves about 1/4 that just weren't that strong, even at higher percentages). With everyone else, my percentage varies widely for each individual FO, no matter who I supplies it.
  13. Thank you, TallTayl! Interesting story about your DB!
  14. I'd love to have a sniffie, thank you ! I've had tarts (long ago) in ED and I like the scent a lot.
  15. yes, I have tried it... it is great in my parasoy wax melts and very nice in melt and pour soap!
  16. I've tried Lavender Sage from Fragrance Buddy which is supposed to be MW. It is very herbal and not sweet at all. I personally don't like it - it smells too medicinal for me. I haven't sold any yet....I'll be sending it out to my customers to try later this year since a lot of them like really herbal scents. I have also tried the Lavender, Sage, and Rosemary from Fillmore. It is a sweet scent - totally different from Fragrance Buddy's Lavender Sage. I've never tried the original MW, so can't compare. Good luck!
  17. Thank you, TallTayl! That makes sense. I won't need anything larger than 10 to 25 pounds but dh can always install a tap if need be. Siphoning sounded logicial so thanks again for the info! I will gladly avoid siphoning
  18. I might need to order some drums of fragrance oil soon to save money but have no idea how to use a drum...I searched here and googled but came up with nothing. Any advice or website I can use for assistance? Is it just a matter of siphoning out from one of the holes in the top?
  19. I haven't used Shampoo Deluxe in my own products yet but I have melted tarts from CFTKR (tart maker) and it is GREAT. I've also tried "Shampure Type" tarts from CFTKR, and I like Shampoo Deluxe a little better! I will be ordering some soon, too. Good luck with it! Daystar's Fresh Lemon Slices is great in m&P soap. My personal favorite.
  20. fwiw, six months ago, I made melt and pour soap from Black Currant Rose (Sweet Cakes) and LOVED it...used it right away...but I just started using another bar from the same batch and it smells awful. I do have lots of melt and pour bars made six months ago from other fo's that are still great. But not this one... I can't believe I didn't get Gypsy Rose in my last FB order...I figured I would wait til "next time". Shoot! I have a lot of rose scents but always want more! That said, Bulgarian White Rose from Oregon Trails is pretty great in melt and pour soap and wax melts. Strong, too!
  21. Last year in July they had a sample sale of 20 samples (one ounce size) for $30. Not sure if it's an annual thing.
  22. I also love Mad Oils Dragons Blood...but I was lucky enough to get TallTayl's TSW version...the smell pretty similar, but, for me, TallTayl's TSW is my favorite...it is stronger in wax and a little less sweet (a little earthier) than Mad Oils. (Thanks again, TallTayl!). (I have not made soap with Dragons Blood, only wax melts so far).
  23. Now their facebook page says they are only updating their website and they closed it so their email is also not working. They gave out a temporary email for contacting them.
