  1. I think Just2BHappy has officially been initiated into our group, don't ya think? LOL She is well on her way, look out! This is how all serious candlemakers start out! Gosh, I remember those days....actually, I'm still having those days! It's never ending, from here on out you will always be testing; trying to get a better scent throw, mixing up waxes, waiting for the cures, stuffing tarts and candles into our significant other's noses asking about the cold throw, etc. etc. You know what, though? After all these years, I still love it
  2. What TallTayl says with cherry, and ANY citrus goes with bamboo!!!
  3. What was wrong with the LX 14? If it burned all the way, was it just not enough ht? I'm thinking you may want to power burn the lx14 before you decide on LX 16's and see just to be sure...better to always be on the safe side as we have some customers that don't trim their wicks and power burn all day! Just a suggestion:)
  4. NG Gummy Bears comes to mind...
  5. TallTayl knows what she's talking about; I would invest in a few good plastic jars and then reconsider... Souffle cups scream cheap and low quality...just my opinion! I'm sure you make an amazing body butter, so it deserves to be put in a nice jar
  6. hmm... I never used straight soy, but I'm wondering if it could have gone rancid....(if that's possible?) Anyone else want to chime in?
  7. how much fragrance are you adding?
  8. Some vanillas and cinnamons can be finicky, especially with different wicks, I usually test with a simple fragrance like apple
  9. Just as a side note if anyone is looking for a GREAT yellow cake smell by itself, Rustic Escentuals/Aroma Haven has a FO called Vanilla Butter Fudge...it is absolutely to die for!!!
  10. I sometimes use it (clay) with lighter, floral scents. It may be mind over matter, but I think it helps:) Can't remember where I got that tip from.... Anyways, I'm glad your starting to notice the scent!
  11. Can you please tell us which specific brand/supplier you use and why? What are your thoughts on wood wicks and their safety? Have you ever had "an episode" with one of your wood wicked candles? Paraffin/Soy/Fragrance Amount-does it make a difference in the wick's "behavior"? (amount of crackle, crazy flames, etc) Trying to decide if I should add them to my line or not...Thanks in advance:)
  12. Amen to that! lol I'll start a new thread seeking wood wick users....
  13. Great points, TallTayl! I see what you mean.... It's funny, if you look at the picture for the candle that's recalled it does look like it's overwicked! Did you ever try wood wicks from this company? I know when I tried wood wicks before (NG, CW) the flames would get really high no matter what size I used, kind of scary high, smoking, etc.; that's why I chose not to use them, but then I saw this company's and it stated how there is no trimming required, burns consistently, etc. so I was thinking of trying them. It was then that I found the recall info and it just kind of turned me off... I love wood wicks but I feel I would have to increase my business insurance, lol Anyone here ever use the wicks from Wood Wick Technologies? Reviews???
  14. That's what I would love to know, too!!! LOL What do you mean statue of limitations? Like they had to change the material or something?
  15. Actually, it looks like it was from 2009 and 2010.
  16. I was just going to order a sample pack from wood wick technologies, when I did a search and found that candles made (Dayna Decker) with these wicks have been recalled...twice.... due to a potential fire, burn & laceration hazard What is the problem? The candle flame can unexpectedly flare up and the glass container can crack, posing fire, burn and laceration hazards to consumers. http://wemakeitsafer.com/DayNa-Decker-Botanika-Candles-Recall-611640-582024
  17. Sometimes a little added titanium dioxide or clay added to your oils while melting can anchor a scent better in the long run:) What's your temp at when in the oven? Just a thought...I wonder if the castor oil actually diluted the fragrance? Just so you know, my soaps always seem to get stronger over the next couple of days. Hang in there!
  18. LOVE THIS!!!!!!!!!! Great job! It came out beautiful! How long do they hold up for? If it is dropped would it crack or bend? So cool.....thank you so much for sharing, Vicki!
  19. Daisymay66, I thought the same thing!! A week?????? LOL Looked like it was coffee beans on top of her candles...from the look of the wax and wicks I'm thinking 464 and eco....
  20. The longer the cure the better the throw... Have you tried paraffin?
  21. I formulated my own blend of paraffin and soy, but nowadays I'm using less and less soy. I'm noticing the HT is soooooo much better... So, how was the trip????!!??
  22. Coppertone type Baby Magic type Vanilla Buttercream Crunch Pink Sugar Orange Dreamsicle These are my favorites from JS...HTH!
  23. Biolage White Grapefruit and Bamboo Blueberry Muffin Laundromat Black Cherry Bomb Green Apple Expolosion Red Mac Apple Couture Hotness Pineapple Orchid Purple Hooters This is my list for the strongest in parasoy/HP soaps! I've tried many others but these are my favorites:)
