  1. I believe it would be the total "fluid mass" it can hold; doesn't matter how strong it is. Wax is like a sponge, it can only hold up to a certain percent of "fluid". Does that make sense?
  2. I was going to suggest the whipped cream, too!
  3. Just posted my review under the fragrance section, check it out!
  4. Yay! They're here!!!! I promised I would review OOB. Here we go! Mulberry-Wow! Nice and strong! Perfect! Smells like Mulberry, alright! Slight cherry undertone! Blood Orange-Love this, a deeper orange, not "bright", I also smell tangerine in this, this is going to be a good one! Nice and strong! Juicy! Very Vanilla-Before I open the bottle I'll have you know I ordered this a couple of years ago and it smelled like straight up chemical, oob and in wax. Could never figure out why people raved over this...maybe it was a bad batch or something. Here goes....ok. definitely better. I must have had a dud before, it smells much better. I'm sure in wax it will be different. It smells creamier and more vanilla-like this time...whew... Blueberry Cheesecake-Holy cow! It does smell like blueberry cheesecake! I even smell a little crust in there! A keeper!!! A little more sophisticated than blueberry muffin. Nice and strong! Plumeria-This is fantastic! Best plumeria ever! Love this one, can't wait to use this in soap! Nice and strong, too! Black Sea-Hmmm...reminds me of a men's deoderant....not sure if I like this one...definitely more masculine...I don't think of it as beachy or ocean-like, I don't know...I'll have to come back to this one... Peach Nectar-Yummy! Like a peach candy, kind of shnoppy, syrupy and sweet...possibly considering mixing it with the other peach to see how that will turn out...we'll see once I get to that one... Citronella-Wow! Very strong, just like citronella! A keeper! Smells just like the citronella candles you walk by in Walmar*, only super stronger! Banana Nut Bread-Smells good, don't smell too much nuts in there yet, maybe different when I put it in wax... Strawberry Shortcake-Love this one! Sweet, cakey, and stronger than others I've smelled. Good strawberry without the fake notes. Can't wait to test this one in wax... Oakmoss and Amber-Nice, very different. Complex. Mysterious. Unisex. Has a green tea note to it. Cologne-like. I've never smelled anything quite like this before, really hard to describe, but I do like it.. Peach-This is a very nice, straight peach. Not artificial at all, which is awesome! I think of a fuzzy peach! The other(Peach Nectar) is more "syrupy". I think blending these 2 would be the perfect blend! Can't wait to try it... Pumpkin Souffle-Heard great reviews on this one, here goes...Yes, Yes, Yes! Great pumpkin scent! Not super heavy on the spices which is good...I am able to smell the pumkin! I have a feeling this could be "the" pumpkin scent for year-round.. Cinnamon Stick-Nice...smells a little like Big Rd gum or the red candies. Nice and spicy. Not super strong oob.Yummy! Lavender-Still looking for that one..drum roll please...OMG! This is it...this is what I was looking for! It's perfect! Like a lavender sachet! I don't get a lot of medicinal notes, this smells like true lavender flower buds! Absolutely by far the best one I've smelled hands down!!! Baby Powder-Wow!!! This is great! Very true and strong!!! Macintosh Apple-YUM-MAY!!! A juicy, red skinned apple! Nice and strong! I love NG Red delcious, but I may have found a new one! Honeydew Melon-Man, I picked some good ones! lol This is awesome! Nice and strong without being too syrupy sweet! Nice and fresh! Red Hot Cinnamon-Spicy, nice. I don't think there is much difference between the Cinnamon Stick and this one. Too hard to tell oob. I'll have to put the cinnamons in wax to compare. Green Tea and Lemongrass-Didn't think I would like this one-I love it!!! It is soooo fresh and clean! I smell more green tea than lemongrass. The lemongrass gives it a citrusy note to it without smelling like bug spray! A keeper! Can't wait to make bath products with this one! Orange and Chili Pepper-Wowzas!! Super strong! I love this one! A bright, zesty orange with a kick! Gardenia-Very "floral". I thought there was going to be a sweetness to it but it's not there. Borderline "old lady". Not positive on this one....however, it may turn out great in wax, we'll see... Mango Papaya-hmmm....yummy, sweet, good for summer...I have a feeling this one is going to bloom once in wax or soap. I am still favoring my passionfruit guava over this one...time will tell! All in all I think I found a lot of new keepers! Very satisfied with my selections! Thank you all for your suggestions! Hope my reviews are helpful!
  5. Soy is good for slowing the burn, I keep my percentages on the low side. Not a huge fan of soy, I never got the HT like I do with paraffin. I tried and tried, believe me! With soy you need a long cure time, hotter wicks and more fragrance oil to even compete with paraffin, IMO. I prefer pouring the candles and being able to sell the next day! I should be getting my fragrance samples today from CS-think I'll go check the mailbox now, lol! I'll be doing a review OOB for them today! I think I ordered like 23 of them, lol! woo hoo!
  6. LOL! I was just teasing you! I've been happily married for 10 years! LOL With the 4627 there's a lot of petro in there, you do need to wick up some... There are so many variables with candlemaking, everyone seems to have little tricks and tips they use that produce different outcomes, but you will find your own and become very proud of your finished product. I have learned lots on this board, just spending so many hours researching and testing...I can't tell you how many pounds of waxes and additives I have tried over the years to come up with a great blend, but I still continue to test and reformulate a little here and there, it's never ending, lol!
  7. I do use my own blend and not the 4627, but that should give you a good reference point as far as the zincs...
  8. No! No need to twist the zincs, and they stand up by themselves; you don't even need to use a wick holder! (Once you get the hang of it) There are a good amount of sizes to choose from: 44-28-18z and 44-32-18z for 8 oz. jelly jars 51-32-18z for 8oz. square masons, 12 oz. and 16oz. canning jars 60-44-18z and 62-52-18z for salsa and tureen jars There are other sizes below that but this is what I pretty much stick with:) Now that I gave you all of my secrets how bout a date? LOL just kidding:) Seriously, though, I can't wait to see what you think....it may be just what you are looking for
  9. Yepper! I think you will be pleased with how the zincs burn...they don't get "hot on one side", they are actually cooler burning wicks; you don't need a super hot wick to burn paraffin... Most people who love zincs say they get the BEST ht; no FO is burning off, it's warmed and allows the fragrance to permeate more... As far as the mushrooms, grab a yankee and burn it for an hour, lol! I always say the wick is ready to be trimmed when you get that mushroom. It's just a side effect with that wick, but then again, with a lot of wicks...I've tried every wick under the sun and always come back to the zincs, they are reliable, I know how they burn and I get nice, steady, even meltpools throughout the burn. I think you will find you will get a steadier flame as well, they tend not to behave so erratically as other wicks. (IMO) Can't wait for you to try them!!!
  10. Try a 51-32-18z and a 60-44-18z! hee hee I'm turning you over to the dark side, lol!!!!!!!!
  11. Not so! Remember, I suggested the zincs..... (I just always wanted to use that emoticon, lol!)
  12. Wow...that's a lot of hangup...I'm thinking htp93, or most commonly used htp104 in that jar... The thing is if you're selling I can't imagine customers being ok with that...I try to get an almost full melt pool on the 2nd burn...I'm thinking the htp83 would be fine if you burn the candles for 8 hours at a shot, lol.... will be curious to see further 4 hour burns with that wick....;)
  13. How close to the edges does it burn? Any way you can post a pic? Honestly I thought initially the htp83 would be slightly underwicked even though hapathy said he has great results...I wonder if he ever tried the next size up to compare...hmmm....
  14. Yes! Comes out great!!!! No scent morphing or discoloration, cures to a light tan... I especially like that scent during the winter...helps with my seasonal effective disorder, lol!
  15. Thanks, Puma! I promise I will give descriptions of all OOB when I get them!!!
  16. The Smoke and Odor Eliminator is awesome; it smells like juicy fruit gum with a hint of spice-VERY EFFECTIVE, too!
  17. What is the Black Sea like? Is it salty, ozone-like? Still looking for a great ocean scent; BB had one years ago that was perfect...
  18. Black Sea Blood Orange Baby Powder Cinnamon Stick Citronella Honeydew Melon Mango Papaya Mulberry Oakmoss and Amber Peach Peach Nectar Plumeria Pumpkin Souffle Red Hot Cinnamon Very Vanilla Green Tea and Lemongrass Lavender Gardenia Orange and Chili Pepper Macintosh Apple Banana Nut Bread Strawberry Shortcake Blueberry Cheesecake Ok, there's my list. Any that I should chop off???
  19. Yep! I added Blood Orange and Black Sea, along with others you guys suggested:) Thanks to all who have responded so far! You are all awesome!!
