  1. depends on the scent but white, light blue, light green, light brown etc.
  2. I'm sure they have a contract stating that you can ONLY sell their products. They may even have you sign the contract in blood and give them your first born...just kidding!!
  3. I have heard them say the same thing... too funny. It's even funnier the people that will believe them. I mean come on people it's an electric warmer not a cure for cancer. Any melting source is gonna melt those things, whether it's electric, you use a tealigt for the heat or hell put them in the sun and they will melt.... deceptive marketing...sad!! I am just waiting to hear one of them say that again b/c I will go buy one and put it in my warmers just to show the customers that they are trying to pull the wool over their customers eyes. Wonder what their response would be when I disprove their ridiculous statement. I'll be sure to have a camera ready to post the dumbfounded look for sure!!
  4. Yes you do have to signup with them to see the prices. Do you have a tax ID #? You must have one to sign up with OBI. Eccolights, yes even with the shipping they do have the best prices but since I am not far from them I can drive there and get double the product for what it would cost me in shipping as opposed to getting less product for the price of what it cost me in gas to drive there. I think that made sense.. I just woke up...lol Have you used the dropshippng? Are there any advantages to that as opposed to regular shipping or picking them up there?
  5. I had some of the snowmen warmers (like what candles and supplies has) but mine came from OBI and they had blue as well as red snowmen. And not to mention they were half the price as what C&S is asking. They are out of them and have been for awhile but I was hoping they would have some more as I'm making a trip to OBI next week and would have loved to have gotten some for next year. I have 1 left, people grabbed these things up!! And as for the plain colored warmers I have sold every single one. For some reason people are buying these things like crazy right now. Maybe it's the holidays or maybe they are seeing the price of the Scentsy warmers at these shows b/c they have bought me out. I have one last show next weekend for the year and it is a HUGE one so I gotta get more warmers!! But yes OBI is the way to go, I think they have the best prices atleast that I have seen and they are in driving distance from me so I can stock up and not get killed in shipping.
  6. Mine are also a deep forrest green. Eccolights, don't feel too much of an oddball as I have seen them red. In fact most of the ones I have seen have been red so I thought I was the oddball on this one until now.
  7. I have tried the ones from Aztek and they are the same as Alabasters to me, but, the price is a little high. I have tried the ones from Cierra Candles and they are not as sturdy as the others. I used to get these from Alabaster also, but, as always they are "temporarily" out of stock. I also have tried the ones from Millcreek and they are bigger and I had a helluva time getting them closed. So I too would like to find some good ones at a good price.
  8. I use some of my FO's year round. It really depends on the customers in your area. In the fall and winter time I stop using some that I find are really more summer type scents and as you progress in the craft you will find out what sells during the particular times of the year. You may sell the pants off of a scent in the summer and not a single one in the fall/winter. I replace some of the not so hot sellers for the fall/winter with fall and winter scents and then when the season changes some of the replaced scents are brought back to life. In time you will get an idea of what sells the longer you sell, but, then sometimes that goes out the window. Myself I don't care what time of year it is sometimes I just wanna smell Pumpkin Spice even in the summer. Which is fine as I'm just using them for myself but for the majority of the customers I have come across they typically want certain scents during certain seasons, but, there's always a few out there that want the summer in the winter. Depending on the scent some can be renamed to fit other seasons. There's some great renamers on the board if you go that route. For example most people don't want x-mas tree anytime other than x-mas time but rename it a pine name and they love it. Candy Cane is another you typically associate that with x-mas but rename it some variation of peppermint and you have a seller outside of the x-mas season. It will just depend on the scent. However buying tons of different scents for each seaon will get costly so you may want to find some that can be used year round and then just replace some of those with the seasonal scents and when the season changes again some of the replaced scents can be resurrected. What are the scents that are not selling? Renaming them could help. HTH
  9. wowscent that might get you more sales... from the men anyway. You could probably charge them double and they wouldn't know the difference. They'd be too busy with their eyes bugged out
  10. Yes they are everywhere... like cockroaches. Every single show I have done this year they have been at every single one even the juried shows that made us send pics of us actually making the products. Go figure right?? Partylite, Gold Canyon and whatever Home Interior is calling itself these days along with the scentsy... seen them all. I have not seen the same scentsy rep at any of the shows they've all been different reps so they must be multiplying. It is sad that they or anyone that is reselling products at craft shows are allowed but unfortunately the promoters seem to be more concerned with making money on the booth rent than offering the shoppers with true handmade crafts not to mention affordable prices. It does annoy me but I typically outsell them anyway so it doesn't really affect me in the pocket, but, the looks they shoot at you when you are selling the pants off them are to die for. I usually get the evil stares when set up begins and I just find that humorous b/c really I am the one who should be here b/c I made my products. I didn't just get them from the UPS man and put them in my car. Eventually one day people will realize that it's nothing but a bunch of overpriced hype.... right???
  11. You could always just ignore the request and not accept or decline. Really don't know what to tell you to do there as I can see your point in not wanting a customer to know everything about you that you put on your personal page but can also see the point in not wanting to offend her either by declining. As for the reviews I have one on my page ( I didn't put it there so I assumed it was just a custom link for business pages) but if you go to where all the boxes are on your business page (info, photos, etc) you will see a + at the very end. If you click on that you can add tabs from there. As for the privacy settings for your personal page I have mine on the strictest settings as there are just some people out there that I don't want to find me. If you have an ex you can understand why. You can also block people if you know their email address. HTH. Oh and I think the fan pages are ones that fans create like a fan of Jimi Hendrix created a page for him so I understand it to be two different type of pages (fans as oppossed to business)
  12. I have this, or I think I ordered it one of the last times I ordered... hard to keep up sometimes..lol. If I did indeed order it like I think I did I haven't had the time to try it out. It was a best seller on the site (I think their best seller). If I get the time I'll try it out and post results. I'm sure someone here can chime in.
  13. correct the business page lists people as "fans" or well now it's people who like this and "friends" are for personal pages. All the people have to do is hit the like this button on your business page of facebook to only have access to your business page assuming ofcourse you have your personal page set with privacy settings. Otherwise any Tom, Dick and Harry that knows your name can view your personal page.
  14. Does anyone have a blend that they've tried of mixing Orange and Cinnamon? I have a customer that wants this and the only place I've been able to find it (Orange Peel and Cinnamon) is "temp out of stock" so I thought I'd see about mixing my own. I have both of these FO's just don't know the ratio to mix them together. Any help?? Or if you know of another supplier that has something like this?? Thanks!!
  15. Good for you. It's amazing the nerve people have nowadays that they would one fraudently use their bosses cc and work address to order and two that they would be so stupid as to do it again with the same supplier no less. I hope that stunt was worth losing their job over and more than likely effecting any job they will try to get. I don't know about alot of people but I know I can't afford to do something stupid that's gonna cost me my job. They are too hard to come by anymore. Put a score on the board for Karma!!
  16. I used to use that wax and I heated until 180-185. Are you mixing your FO well? I use a wire whisk and stir for 2 min and then stir more off and on until time to pour. But your main problem may be that you did not allow them to cure long enough before the intital test burn. Soy wax takes time to cure and if it's not cured enough it will effect the burn and throw of the candle. I agree with the others that you should not test until atleast 48 hours. It seems the longer soy candles cure the better they get. I know when you're starting out you're really excited to test out your product but be patient as the finished candle has it's own time table and sadly it doesn't always coincide with ours. Let the candles sit for a few days and try the HT again. If still no HT or very little, blow it out and let it sit a few more. HTH!!
  17. a few more details and someone may be able to help.... what temp did you heat the wax to, what temp did you add FO, how long did the candles cure before you burned and how long was your test burn?
  18. That's awesome!! Glad you had a good show and you bi!*% slapped her rear end right out the door!!! She surely will never forget you and she deserved everything she got so don't for a second feel bad about slipping on the road. That was totally genius to get one of her candles so people could compare the bi!*% slapped scent with your much superior candles!!! I would have loved to see her reaction. Should have had the hubby record it with his phone so all of us could see it go down. I think we all would have loved to have seen that. And you could have posted it on you tube... right next to the homemade ghetto candles. I can see the post now Bi!*% slapped scent gets Bi!8% slapped!!!
  19. If you decide to respond to her I'd ask specifics (what product, scent and what the issue was that she'd had with them. Then you can decide how to proceed after you have all the info. I had someone complain once and I sent them an email back asking what they bought (as I always have a notebook that I write down my sales for each event scents and all) and I had nothing in there for that show that matched up with what she was asking for in a refund ( i did not let her know this). I politely asked her what she had bought and told her that I'd replace the scents for something else or I'd refund her money but in either case she'd have to return the products she was unhappy with so I could test them to see what the problem was. Guess what NEVER heard another word from her. Now I had a feeling she was just trying to get free stuff which is why I offered the refund. I called her bluff and she folded. Honestly I think she saw us at that show, didn't buy anything and tried to scam me for freebies. since I had no record of what she was claiming she spent that's what I think happened. The world is full of scammers and honestly I wouldn't worry about it. There's gonna be someone out there to always complain about anything and everything. You can't please them all and obviously you have satisifed customers out there so concentrate on them. And why in the world would someone buy something that they'd heard so called bad reviews about. McDonald's is selling Bic Mac's with expired meat and all my friends have gotten sick from them so let me run out and buy me some expired Big Mac's.... I mean come on, it's ridiculous sometimes how stupid they think we are.
  20. Thanks for the suggestions. For those of you that use the RA/AH which formula do you use as I see they have 2... and Donna which grade do u use from the Candlemaker's Store A or B? Can you tell me if the one from the Candlemakers is the one with lilac? I have searched and some I find have lavender and not lilac. The customer wants the one with the lilac and as we all know they don't have scent descrips on their site.
  21. Caramel Cinn Latte for sure!! They are soo many that I love but that one is by far my fav. I've gotten the Blueberry Cheesecake b/c of it being highly recommended, but, have not burned it yet. CT smells awesome though!! Pumpkin Spice is another winner and Frosted Pumpkin I am selling like crazy. Mac Apple too!!
  22. I used to get it from Alabaster, don't know if it's one of the temp out of stock scents or not. They are the only one I have ever used that scent from. How much do you want? I may have some I could spare, as it's not one that I use too much anymore.
  23. Sometimes I can smell the FO on my clothes that I wore that day and the only other thing is it does leave an aroma in the house after making candles. (just like if you were burning a candle) I make sure that the last ones I pour for the day/night is a scent I don't mind smelling for awhile. I make the ones I don't care for first then move onto the ones I like to smell.
