They must have just recently changed their names. They send me their newsletters all the time and all have said Lisa and Terry except for the most recent one there was no name. After the name change to Midwest it still said Lisa and Terry so if they are no longer affliated with the company it just happened recently. I think any company that is going to buy out another should honor any and all orders placed with the company prior to them buying said company out and should take care of any and all problems customers have had with the previous company especially when money was rec'd and the product was not shipped out. I mean if this is truly under new ownership they are NOT starting out on a very good foot. First to be affliated with a company that has has so many complaints and to not completely change website, name etc. and then to seem to have the same type of customer service as the previous company.... won't be getting much business that way IMO. Anywho I've only ordered from them twice and I guess I was lucky b/c I didn't have any problems whatsoever and rec'd all my products ordered and it was shipped timely. I have pondered ordering when they have had their really good sales (which seems to be every week now) but have not due to reading all the other complaints on the board. I'd be mad as hell to order and get screwed out of my money. I'd be taking a road trip to whoop some ass:D

I was concerned from the get go but thought I'd play along just to see how much info I could get out of them. As for the merchant account thing that is just the way they kept pushing to pay. And the part about the money not being rec'd after showing it had was part of the scam that my husband was telling me about where the scammers are hitting businesses like his. They may have been stolen credit cards, I don't know how they are doing it but somehow they have done it. It's sad that we live in a world where people wake up and think how can I scam someone today. Get a damn job!! Anyway, alot of you may have been aware of this (since someone said this has been going on for years) but I had not heard about it and this was my first experience with it so I thought I'd pass it on in case there were others who were unaware.

Hi all I just wanted to pass on some info that may help someone and save them from a huge loss of money and inventory. For those of you that have online stores please watch out for people contacting you in regards to ordering. These people are pretty easy to spot as the couple that I have dealt with type broken English (I guess is the best way to put it). And they always refer to themselves as Mr. whatever (first and last name). Anywho they are contacting people in an attempt to scam you out of your product(s). They only want to pay with a merchant account and refuse to use paypal. My husband told me they are targeting other businesses as well not just online stores. He works in parts for semi trucks and his business as well as some others that have contacted each other to watch out for this. All seems to be ok since they pay with a credit card using a merchant account and it shows to you that the card was accepted. So you send out the product then find out that the money was never sent. Meaning you are out alot of time, money and product(s). The last one that contacted me wanted around 2000.00 in candles and when I asked him for shipping info so I could give him an exact amount and told him I did NOT have a merchant account I've not heard from him since. He contacted me several times through our website seeming so interested and in a real hurry to get this deal done. I thought from the get go he was trying to scam me so I am lucky to not be out anything. From the way they talked in their typing they obviously were from another country. And really who is going to spend over 2000.00 on candles they have never used before??I hope no one has fallen victim to this and that this helps someone out there.

ok I went to Alabaster today as I am running low on wicks and caution labels and they are about the only place that carries both the wicks I use and the size caution labels I prefer and guess what... they are sold out of both. So now I have been looking for another supplier that would have both and so far not finding any luck. BCN carries the wicks but they do not have the 1.5" inch labels. BCN is where I have been getting the wicks from for some time now. As for my previous post I forgot to mention that we did let Alabaster know that since we had such problems with them (and while we seemed to be ignored at the time) that they lost out on an order from us which was over 2000.00. Now they can make that 2 orders over 2000.00 that they lost. That may seem like peanuts to them but when you start to loose business like that by mulitple people it's gonna start to hurt.

I too have had problems with them in the past. They used to have a warehouse here in KY and when I ordered from there I never had a single problem and I could pick up my order.... and there was ONE guy that ran this place!! They closed that one and I had problems almost everytime I ordered from AL. Each and everytime I ordered Hawaiian Tropics I was sent Hawaiian Paradise... and had to call to have them send the right one. There were times I was shorted on wicks, tart trays, warning labels (all in the same order). However when I would call they had no problem to fix it and send me what I was shorted or that they gave me the wrong bottle of. But one of the last times I ordered from them they sent me the wrong lids and some of my jars were broken. We called and they said they would send us the correct lids which we never got and was told as far as the jars go that X amt of broken jars out of X amt was not bad.... WHAT??? We were asked what would it take to make it right for us and we said replace the broken jars and send us the right lids and we'll send back the wrong ones at your cost of course.... No response. So after seeing some compliants on another board the owner contacted us and apologized and offered us a 10% discount on our next order. I have ordered a few times since then but not too much since they have left a very bad taste in my mouth and alot of the things I have gone to order have been out of stock... aroma beads (which were out of stock for over a year and now are no longer on their site) tart trays etc. So I have had to go elsewhere to get what I need. I have not ordered anymore scent from them as the last time when we had the other problems I thought the scents were watered down. I'm not saying they did this, but, the bottles of scent I got (which were one's I had used many times from them) smelled weak or not at all like my previous bottles did and I have not even used them. I did mention this to the owner that there were huge differences in some of the FO's and that he may want to look into it to make sure someone wasn't cutting them to make orders (if they were low on that scent) or if they were trying to get orders out more quickly... and I never got a response.... So?? I actually compared the bottle of Love Spell to a previous bottle that I had gotten from the KY warehouse and just looking at them you could tell a difference. The one from AL looked like water and the KY one actually had a tint to the FO and the KY one was so much stronger OOB. And as for the broken jars I know that things can get broken in transit but when you send me 300+ jars and you put them all in a big box with no packing that is your fault not mine. I was hoping that things were changing with them but it appears that it isn't.

Just to update anyone who may be looking for a replacement for this as well.... I ordered a bottle from Cierra Candles since I was getting other stuff anyway just to try it out. I haven't used it yet but OOB smells just like BNL's. Crossing fingers it has just as great throw once in candles.

We used to have a supplier here but they closed which means now there's shipping on everything which can be expensive. We make a trip 2 times a year and buy wax, jars the type of things can get crazy when it comes to shipping. We have a place about 4 hours from us (each way) so it's better for us to drive the 8 hours total and spend about 80 bucks in gas than pay 600.00 plus for shipping. If you have a supplier within reasonable driving distance that would have the type of wax and jars you use I strongly suggest doing that. But make sure you get enough to make it worth your time.

Has anyone tried this FO yet and what are your reviews? I ordered a small bottle since I was ordering some other things and it had good reviews on their site. Hoping it will be a winner!! Also if anyone has tried this what color did you make the candle in or suggestions for candle color? Thanks!!

I got the ones from Bitter Creek when they had them on special. My own person preference though is the First and Main. They seem to be a higher quality bear and in my experience they hold up alot better (as far as fluffing) all of the ones from BC lost hair when fluffing. They didn't have bald spots or anything. The First and Main ones seem to have more filling inside as well as you can tell a difference in weight just comparing the two prior to dipping. I just weighed one from Aztek and one from BC to see the weight diff and Aztek's is 7.05 and BC's is 3.25 so that's alot more filling in Aztek's. I order mine from Aztek and I can tell you they are definately First and Main and they have the tags attached. If you go to their website the smaller bear shows the tag better than the larger ones so u can see they are First and Main. Aztek's CS is great and you can call them if you want to make sure. They have same day shipping if ordered by noon. If you find any anywhere else I would call to make sure if it's not stated on the site before you order. I don't know who makes the BC bears as the tags say Bitter Creek. So no matter where u order them I say First and Main bears are definately better, my opinion anyway. HTH

I wasn't wanting anything too crazy but thought it would be fun and maybe give me a few new scents... as if I need anymore..lol I will need to figure out which ones I'm gonna take and I can let you know then, I appreciate your helping in the renaming. Honeysuckle sold really well there last year as well.

Aztek (candlemaking.com) and soapandthings.com bears are first and main. I don't believe the bears from BCN are First and Main as the tag says bittercreek and no where does it say First and Main. They are different from the others I have gotten from Aztek which are definately First and Main. I prefer the ones from Aztek as they seem to be higher quality and the hairs are tighter which means ALOT less hair loss for your bear when dipped. They ones that are First and Main are also a heavier bear. I checked the labels on a few I had here to make sure before I posted.

I am doing a show at a psychic and paranormal event later this month and was wondering if any of you had some ideas for some "unusual" type scents that would kind of fit in with the theme. I don't want anything that's gonna stink to high heavens but something that is different, fits the theme and that people might actually buy. I did this event last year and did really well with my products, but, thought it might be fun to try to add a few off the wall scents. Thx

Thanks for the suggestions. I like the one from BCN but it is really heavy on the oatmeal and kindy has a nutty smell. I preferred the BNL one which is sweeter. I will look into the ones you have mentioned. Thx again!!

Diesel, I did get the autumn harvest from Aztek when I was there getting wax, jars etc. and it smells good but it's different from the Fall Harvest. I haven't made any candles yet to test as I have been too busy but hopefully in the next couple days.

For me alphabetical order works best. The only exception is the dup's I do have those on their own shelf. This makes it easier for me when behind the table if someone asks for something I can point it out right away.

I got some of this FO from Aztek as it was clearance due to them buying some FO's from a company that went out of business. I absolutely LOVE this scent and would like to find a duplicate version. I have no idea who the out of business supplier they bought it from all I can tell you is the label on the bottle says Fall Havest WV. I am assuming the WV means the company was in WV as all the other bottles I got that were from the out of business supplier has WV under the scent name. I have done a search for this on fragranceoilfinder and I have found a few but am a little leary as some of the company's I have never heard of/ dealt with and who knows if they will smell like what I am looking for. Any help?

Has anyone found a replacement for this FO from BNL? I have tried the BCN version and I prefer the BNL version as it is more sweet ( I guess more honey scent) as opposed to the BCN version which is more heavy on the oatmeal. BNL no longer carries this FO and I desperately want to find a replacement. Thanks!

Honeydew Melon Gain Type Coco Chanel Mademoiselle are the only ones I have used so far. The coco chanel I got for B&B products. I sold out of the Gain candles over the weekend and it smells sooo good. I did just get a new scent today but don't have the time to fool with it right now... Niagara Falls Mist. Anyone tried this scent?

JS Caramel Cinnamon Latte is awesome and super strong

I haven't done much business with them, I think I have ordered twice. Some clearance FO, body spray base and body coloring. I didn't have any problems and got everything I ordered in timely manner. Maybe I am an exception here or maybe I just got in on a good day however I have been reluctant to order more b/c of all the bad I have read about them whether it be under Brighter Scents, Gelluminations or the new name of Midwest. They do have some awesome sales and I have always wondered why they have so many great sales so often...maybe the bad rep is the cause or a part of it.
