  1. I would like to be selling enough that I would need a place other than home to make my candles and earn enough to live off. Where I would like to sell at? Anyplace that buys...lol! If I don't make enough to live off, then at least enough for a vacation every year ($2000-5000).
  2. I have never had anyone damage my consignment items. I guess maybe I've just been lucky?
  3. I do what Judy does. I initially pour in a votive holder to check scent throw.
  4. I do pretty well with consignment at a business that has two locations. When we started I gave her 25% after I had done a search on what is average. After the first year she raised her consignment to 30%. My wholesale price cost x 2. On my jars I do not get a full 50% more; but it is what I have to do these days and hope volume makes up for it. The only thing I hate about consignment is my $ sitting on a shelf waiting to be sold. I have a ttal of 4 consignment locations and that is a lot of inventory. But then I get a bigger percentage with consignment. <sigh> I have a $150 minimum for wholesale 1st order. $100 there after. I also have minimums per item. 12 jars, 5 melts same scent (1 batch) and 8 votives same scent (1 batch).
  5. Oh really? I had only seen the one. They are nice jars!
  6. They probably are specialty made for S.C.
  7. I have had Lime Basil in 415 in my bathroom warmer for months! It is just now losing scent.
  8. I used Liquid Silk Base from saveonscents.com http://www.saveonscents.com/product_info.php/cPath/12_117/products_id/1265 I used to sell for Urban Botanics, a DS company that did make your own perfume and the ingredients are the same as their base. I really liked it. Goes on and dries quickly.
  9. Thank you. You all are repeating my thoughts on the issue. Insight into my competition.
  10. Is there such thing as organic soy? If so, where can you buy it? There is someone in my area that is offering "organic" soy candles and I was just curious if it is possible.
  11. Did you get them from Eclamshells? I have trouble with theirs sticking like that. Also they are a little thinner and can crack. I know many have great luck with them; but I prefer Impact Mfg. 's clamshells. It took too much time getting the eclamshells apart when 5 had to make 100+ melts.
  12. I can't believe that us candle makers have not been able to keep sales up on the 1oz! WTH? Is it the oval 1oz or the round 1oz? Natural or black? I need use oval black.
  13. Heads Up: If you want to order from Candlewarmers you will have delays in stock and shipping. It has always been that way. They are one of a few wholesale suppliers available to candlemakers. You can pre-order (I was told that people do that for the Christmas stuff). Keep in mind that Meijer stores now carry their warmers, so that means supply will go faster. They have really nice warmers. You just have to deal with the stock and slow shipping issue. I call in my orders now because they have better info on stock when you do. That does not guarantee that someone else won't be on another line buying the item out from under you; but it helps a lot. Shipping: It is very common for many wholesale suppliers to not give a total until the item is shipped. We are spoiled because our fragrance and wax suppliers mostly give it to us right away. With CW you can wait up to a couple weeks before they ship depending on how busy they are or are waiting for a shipment that is due any day. Last I knew they were in the middle of raising prices on warmers. Last co-op some where higher than others. I think they were selling stock and then when new stock came raising prices. I, also, never sell any warmer I do not have in stock. Because I do not have access to funds to keep several of each I want to carry to insure stock.
  14. Hmmmm....I order April 30th and recieved May 5th. I would call them.
  15. Took a break this weekend. Yesterday went to garage sales with my niece (20). Drove by a small carnival filled with moms & kids; but stopped to be kids for a bit. Swings of course...my fav. Gravitron....did not like this one...felt like I was being torn apart from the inside. Tilt-a Whirl: I rode this once as a kid and hated it so avoided it. OMG! I could ride this forever! Best time I have had in so long...I laughed great big belly laughs so much! Tilta whirl -well worth the $20 we spent on 3 rides each. Topped off with Elephant ears. Today - catching up on tv, bills and my niece is coming to mow my lawn as thanks for buying her stuff yesterday. Sunday - who knows...may go back to the Tilt-a-Whirl and take my son (26)!!!!!!!
  16. OOB review: All in clear glass bottles double sealed with white electrical tape. Bubblewrapped and packed in box with peanuts. Box gt dented pretty bad by FedX but all oils were intact. Pumpkin Chai - OMG! Not strong Pumpkin; but delicious. Falling Leaves - Leaves, musky scent. Nice! Tabacco & Cedar - definitley cedar in this. I don't detect the mandarin. I like it. Bird of Paradise - nice floral. more florally than Peaks I think. Nice Peppermint Bark - Chocolate! Not my thing; but if you love Choc fragrance. Fireside - Balsam. my customers will love this. Lemon Parsley - Really really nice lemon! The parsley helps tone down the sharpness of lemon. Mums and Marigolds - smells like I'm working in my garden. ok scent Pineapple Cilantro - Interesting Pineapple. Wondering how it will come alive in wax. Water Lilies - My mind was thinking Water Blssom when I bought so was surprised; but pleasantly so. Nice delicate floral! Sweet Mandarin & Chili Pepper - I have waited so long to try this scent. I can't detect chili pepper. on the fence about this one. Apricot Freesia - Loved this from Fillmore; but couldn't get HT. This one smells stronger and maybe a bit more freesia. Not sure I still have the Fillmore sample to compare. Mistletoe & Fig - I love this! Can't wait for wax. Grapefruit Verbena - I hate verbena but I like this one. Reminds me of an herbal spa (hahaha- like I have ever had one). Sunflower - don't know...can't get the bottle open. LOL!
  17. As a kid I was devastated that I was allergic to Mr. Bubble! I loved playing in those bubbles.
  18. Make a list of advertising sources and ask them if they have heard of them. They may not know how to properly advertise. Are they on FB? Ask them to print up flyers that you can pass out at craft shows, etc. You can place an ad on Craigslist advertising your items and then mention you have a "booth" at xxx. I'd also take a guess at how much 5% sales they had last holiday season by the number of vendors and buying customers they seemed to have. Is that in line with one ad for Mothers Day...or should have gone further?
  19. jeanie - what model is that printer. $14.99 cartridges have me inquiring.
