  1. I just made my first candles using a parasoy blend. I used paper towels and rubbing alcohol to clean up my pouring pitcher, mixing spoon, and thermometer. The pouring pitcher is a mess! I've gotten frustrated with trying to get a good ht from my soy and decided to try something new, but much prefer the clean up of soy. Any suggestions for cleaning up the parasoy tools would be greatly appreciated.
  2. I'm just curious. How many of you started with a wax, tried other waxes, and then went back to your original wax? I'm especially curious of how many started with soy wax, tried a soy/paraffin blend or all paraffin and then went back to soy.
  3. Oh, I forgot to mention that I just started adding CO to see if this makes any difference. Also, does anyone know if fractionated CO makes any difference compared to CO you can buy at the grocery store?
  4. I'm wondering what I can try to get a better ht from this soy wax and still stay all natural. Has anyone added beeswax to GB464 and gotten a better ht? I currently use Eco wicks and just ordered the CD wicks to try. Any suggestions of what to try would be appreciated. Thanks
  5. Maybe, but I've seen a few different candle companys that use them.
  6. Does anyone know which container suppliers carry these homespun jars?
  7. Thank you for your reply. My husband has been telling me the same thing... just don't use the dye!
  8. I'm testing GB464 and would like to use dyes in my candles. I had read to try coconut oil to reduce frosting. I tried that and out of the same pour, 1 - 8 oz jelly jar, and 2 - 4 oz jelly jars, the 8 oz looks great (no frosting), and the 4 oz jars still have frosting. I poured at about 100 degrees, did not heat the jars, put them on a cooling rack and covered with a box. I'm very confused about why the smaller jars still got frosting, when the larger one did not. I used coconut oil from the grocery store and just last night read a recipe that called for fractionated coconut oil. Will the fractionated coconut oil do anything different than the regular coconut oil?? Any advice would be appreciated. I did order a sample of CB Advanced to try. It should be here today. Yay! I'm so excited to try it!!
  9. Help! Need name for craft business. I make decorative fabric crafts, painted decorative wood crafts, quilted table runners, and hopefully will be adding candles too. I was thinking about Pine Needle Crafts because of the wooden and sewn items, but not sure if that works for the candles too. I live in southern Wisconsin on a hobby farm. Any ideas?
  10. #2 also came from Olde Time Pottery, it is an apothecary jar. It's about 9 oz. I would like to find a lid for that one, but I really like it too.
  11. I'm not sure what the 1st one is called. It didn't have a name on it. I bought it at Olde Time Pottery in Rockford, IL.
  12. Hi, I'm new to candle making and I am trying to decide which containers to start with. Which 2 do you like the best? If you sell a candle without a lid, do you have some sort of plastic lid for storing or use plastic wrap for storing until you sell the candle? I'm looking for a lid to sell with the apothecary jar. I bought the jar at Old Time Pottery, but they don't carry the lids for this one. From right to left... 1. 12 oz glass 2. 8 oz apothacary 3. 4 oz flower pot 4. 8 oz jelly jar 5. 4 oz jelly jar
