  1. Candybee...those are very good suggestions...thanks. I do have Honeysuckle Rose already but the other ones are great suggestions. Do you like a particular OMH fo that's strong in m&p?
  2. I'm looking to add some new scents to my m&p line of soaps and need some suggestions. Right now I have some seasonal ones which will go away after the holidays and then some that will stick around like, Cucumber Melon, Rosemary Mint, etc. I'm wondering what you guys find are consistent sellers in your area that I would keep year round? I'm needing to expand my offerings. Thanks for your help and suggestions Karen
  3. Thanks Barbara...I'll give Taylored Concepts a look see. Never ordered from them. Karen
  4. Looking for a really strong coffee blend scent that really pops in m&p. I've tried several from NG and Steve's (Candlemakers) but nothing is strong enough. I'm not looking for a straight coffee scent...need something like French Vanilla latte or the like. Any ideas.....I like kick-butt scents in m&p...nothing whimpy. Thanks Karen
  5. Right now Candy Cane, Peppermint Bark, Rosemary Mint, Toffee Apple and Cucumber Melon are selling good.
  6. It's always more precise to weigh everything..you'll get a more consistent product.
  7. Whose Linen Spray base are you using? On your supplier's site it should give you a starting point. If it doesn't, you could give them a call and ask them the max amount.
  8. Are you using a multi cavity soap mold that holds 4 oz of soap each or are you making individual 4 oz soaps in a single cavity mold? Amount of fo would depend on the IFRA percentage of each fragrance you plan to use. Some of mine I can use up to 5% and some only 1% (which I normally stay away from). What/whose base are you using? With my base and a 3 cavity mold that makes 4 oz bars and an fo that can safely be used at 5% I just multiply 12 oz by 5% = .6 oz of fo. I usually calculate a little over in my base..say 12.6 oz or so just to make sure I have enough to fill each cavity. Even with the little bit of overage, I would still use the .6oz of fo. I hope all that made sense. Even if you can use an fo at 5%, if it's a strong one I would drop it down to about 3%.. sometimes it's just trial & error. Better to use less and then add more than use too much. Karen
  9. Candybee...how much coconut oil & cocoa butter do you add per pound? I would prefer adding those than the stearic acid. Thanks Karen
  10. I've been really happy with the Extra Clear from WSP. Don't use the bases from EBC. I've heard a lot of good things about them.
  11. The Candlemaker's Store has one. I've not tried it but find their oils to be top quality.
  12. I use the Vanilla White from Nature's Garden. Can also be used in both m&p and lotions
  13. A really popular one for me is KY's Plumberry Spruce (I think that's what it's called.)
  14. I don't know how it compares either but NG has one. I've used it before and found it's more pineapple than cilantro. Was hoping to smell a background note of the cilantro but pineapple stood out more.
  15. Mrs. Claus Cookies is great, Christmas Tree, Peppermint Patty (I renamed it Peppermint Bark), Cranberry Balsam..just a few right off the top of my head. Oh, candy cane..really like this one!
  16. I've ordered the "grade B" fo's from them and have been very happy. Rosemary Mint is great, Pumpkin Hollow is fantastic, Cucumber Melon is great, Grapefruit Vanilla..love it. Warm Vanilla sugar I thought was on the light side but then I find most of them to be so. I like a really strong scent. I think this one from any supplier is a bit too lite for my taste. I'll be ordering others. I do wish they had scent descriptions..would save a lot of time.
  17. I don't know but when in doubt I always add Vanilla Color Stabilizer. Some fo's will surprise you and won't discolor and some will. Unless a supplier let's you know how much (if any) vanillin a fo contains, I always add the stabilizer. It doesn't hurt.
  18. Luminous...that's what I'm thinking...I love the pumpkin apple butter in soap, gels and sugar scrubs but can't see it in a lotion. The same thing with pumpkin pie. Thanks for everyone's input...I'll just use good old judgement when it comes to matching scents, especially lotions. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something.
  19. For those of you who make soap (either m&p, cp, etc) do you always make matching other body products to go along with it..like lotions, scrubs, gels, etc.? What if it's a bakery scent which is so popular right now with the fall/holiday season upon us...do you still do matching scents? I'm trying to figure out if people really want a lotion say in peppermint patty (I'm calling it Peppermint Bark) or Pumpkin Pie, etc. Thanks for any input. Karen
  20. I've never added co to it but I do add 20% soy wax..it helps with the dimples. I've used 464 & C-3..whatever I had on hand. Karen
  21. I hope someone finds this scent..to me it sounds amazing!
  22. Well, I use NG's candy corn so no help there. Have you tried NG's Toffee Apple Crunch? I use it for my Toffee Apple soap (m&p), lotions & sugar scrubs. Also AH/RE has a really nice Apple Butter & Caramel. Those are the only two I've used so far. Oh, I have heard Steve's (Candle Makers) has a really nice candy corn. Might be another option. Perhaps someone else will weigh in. Karen
  23. Totally forgot to mention..NG has a Pumpkin Apple Butter that I used in m&p soap & lotion that's great. In m&p I don't really smell the apple part of it. It's been a big hit in my neck of the woods but I really wouldn't call it a straight pumpkin pie scent.
  24. check out Candle Makers Store...I believe he has several and maybe AH/RE.
