  1. I would add DPG instead of just the oil. It would be safer if people touch the pinecones. Cinnamon oil can really burn. How about if you mix up some oil and DPG (or cyclo) in a little 4 ounce spray bottle, spray the cones and let them dry, and then give her the spray to freshen the pine cones as needed.
  2. I use C3 and pour hot at around 165. Smooth tops, no air bubbles. If I pour cooler, I have problems.
  3. I don't think your additives blended with your wax.
  4. Was the wax "slushy" when you added the oil or was it liquid?
  5. Just how much oil did you put in there? Yah, something went very wrong... (Don't light it, BTW.)
  6. Post a pic. I want to see something that looks so bad you don't want to touch it, LOL.
  7. A best seller for me this time of year. I hate it but not because it smells like stale cigarette smoke. It just smells like bananas to me and I'm not a banana fan. Maybe you should let someone else test it. I have this same problem with orange scents. They all smell like fuel to me but other people just smell orange. How about :0~ for a barf smiley?
  8. I agree with Sliver and Iwantitgreen. The jars are adorable but I am afraid you will become frustrated and give up. Go ahead and try them but I would suggest you also try some type of plain jelly jar so that you can get a sense of how those wick as well. IMO, you will learn more about wicking from the jelly jar than the other jar, cute as it is. Not everyone has to agree with me, its just my opinion.
  9. Wetspots can appear later even if you end up with a perfect candle. If the finished candle goes through a temperature change, a wet spot can appear. You can only do so much.
  10. I think if JackBeNimble is not already taken and you use a candle in your avatar, you should be fine. You could also be Candle Jack.
  11. The Mistletoe and Cran is great. I mix it 50/50 and people love it. I carry it year around.
  12. The Mac Apple from CS is very strong and should be able to hold its own. I'll start at 1/3 spruce and 2/3 apple and see what happens. I already mix Mistletoe and Cranberry Marmalade so I don't want to use Cranberry again with the Spruce. I'll try the orange but I always get a fuel smell so I'm not a very good tester for that combo. I would love to get rid of the Lovespell so I'm inclined to see what happens with a 3:1 ratio. Call it Woodland Garden or something.
  13. Maybe I'll go off the wall and try mixing it with Lovespell, which I hate. Or Mac Apple. Or Caramel. Or Orange. Hmmm...
  14. I never smelled Sugared Spruce but it sounds interesting. I was wondering if anyone can tell me what it is like. Is it spruce with a bakery scent or something else? I have CS Blue Spruce. Can I mix it with something and make my own? Straight spruce is too strong for me and I was looking to blend it with something. TIA
  15. Wicker baskets are pretty indestructible. If it were me, I would take them outside and spray them with a hose and then let them dry in bright sunshine. If you can use them dirty, what do you have to lose? I get baskets at yardsales all the time and that's how I clean them.
  16. Why are you assuming that they are testing one scent at a time? You can test as many candles for wick size at the same time as you have room for, as long as you are pretty organized. Also, once you are experienced in candlemaking and know your wax pretty well, it doesn't take three months to nail it. For an 8 ounce jelly jar, I can wick a new FO in a week even with somewhat limited burning time only after work. If the stars align properly and I'm only testing for wick size, I can do it in a long weekend.
  17. I need to pour some Banana Nut Bread, some Mistletoe and some Cinnamon this weekend. And I need to test burn an apple scent.
  18. This is just my opinion, but I think it might be easier for beginners to learn wicking if you start with a jar that's diameter is less than its height (like an 8 ounce jelly jar) instead of a short and wide jar. Especially if you are starting with soy.
  19. Too cute! I love the grass in its mouth!
