  1. YES!!! That sounds lovely I love peppermint/spearmint/patch. Peppermint/vanilla is good, too.
  2. Hmm. I was thinking of something like, powdery. There was a (something) Lace perfume that was powdery with maybe some rose and vanilla. Chantilly Lace!! That's what it was, LOL. ETA... Chantilly Lace is a song. Chantilly is the perfume
  3. Interesting stuff. Tangerine, who are your employees? Are they family/friends? Is this an issue of not trusting them (period)? Having family/friends as employees can open a whole new can of worms.
  4. I use pumpkin puree and Pumpkin FO. It is one of my most favorite soaps. I could totally dig making a loaf right now.
  5. Curious how all went. My house temp changes. It can be very cool at certain times of the year and then warm and humid at others. I tend to force a gel/HP in the oven to make the whole process go faster. Not much space for snoozy logs to lie. If it works for you, go with it girl. One less thing to worry about.
  6. Yup, that's how it has been for a while Just use the "Weekly Sales" sticky up top if there isn't one already posted. There will be a dedicated section for it soon. We're going to try that out and see how it goes. Sometimes members more sales out there It is still undecided if Suppliers will be able to post in that section or how it will be worked out. But for now it is member-generated.
  7. The value in this thread is depleted by the bickering and derailment. Thread closed.
  8. It can happen from just simply having an active domain name, too. I'm not familiar with DIY, but do you have a control panel where you can whitelist or blacklist mail, or a spam trapper?
  9. I've got an HP Inkjet. It is my second HP printer and I'm happy with it. Does more than I need it to do (fax, etc.). So funny, but beyond just the basic printing, my favorite is that I can copy. It is old news in the technology world, but I'm continually happy that I can make my own copies at home.
  10. Girl, you are one talented person. Love looking at what you come up with.
  11. Fantastic idea - very cute. I like the way you are personalizing by letting the girls write on them with the chalkboard paint. Makes them all the more appropriate, too, for a teacher's gift.
  12. Interesting question. So much of it was a learning process that it would be hard to change anything. Getting obsessed with scents is part of the fun. Looking back, though, I think one of the things that I changed and would advise to others, is to streamline and not do too much too fast. If at all!! If you can make one good thing, stick with it and do your one good thing well. Nothing wrong with that.
  13. Keep in mind, that just getting your product out there, being seen and starting to brand your product is part of going to shows. So, though it might seem like a "bad" show money-wise, you never know if you'll pick up a couple new clients, or stick in someone's head. Money's nice, though, of coarse
  14. BCN has (had?) one that smelled just like a campfire. I made a bunch of those enamelware mugs with it years ago. I swear you needed like, a drop of FO to scent a whole batch, it was SO strong. After a while, though, the smell made me sick.
  15. I really like theirs, too. I'm not sure if it entirely reminds me of a pom, but it is a great FO.
  16. Please remember to post a weekly sale thread if there isn't one started. All sale posts outside the Weekly Sale thread will be removed. Quote from removed post:
  17. -------------------- This thread will serve as a weekly sale thread to discuss sales going on within the (craft) community. Feel free to post and discuss the sales, what you bought or are thinking of buying in this thread. Please keep the discussion limited to this thread. Any sale postings, or "shopping list" threads posted outside of this thread will be removed. Suppliers DO NOT post your ads in the Weekly Sales thread. Sale discussion threads will be removed at the end of each week.* A new thread can be started by whatever member hops on her first thing Monday and starts one. But not before Monday, and one thread only!! You must copy/paste this text into the first post of the new thread *Keep this in mind when posting information outside of the simple "sale" realm (like testing notes, compatibility with waxes, etc.). That information will be lost when the thread is removed, and should be posted outside of the Weekly Sales thread. --------------------
  18. I never did find the vanilla bean scent I wanted. There's a lot of great vanillas out there, but I could never find that extract-y scent that I'm looking for.
  19. Soup can is a good idea, and probably you've got a soup or veggie or some small canned good you could use up. Of coarse, keep in mind, especially if you're doing this with a child, that wax gets hot and it is a craft that you should definitely supervise and take caution with. And of coarse have fun!!
  20. Good point. Also if a wax/candle throws better, it can smell different. Kind of like perfumes on different skins.
  21. Assuming you're in the right place in your venture (see above and add testing your product to the list), I don't know... depends on what kind of image you are going for. Mixing used books and candles might not be the best place to showcase your hard work. Is there were time to work out some samples and brochures with some cute bags to hand out when someone makes a purchase? Have you ever made samples? Or do you make votives?
  22. I think it looks better than a huge gap in time. And I wouldn't talk it down, either if I were you. Like: Oh, I had a little business, or I tried and it didn't work out well. I made some candles, I know... kinda silly. But it was fun, for a while, but then I needed money and so here I am. Be like: I was self-employed for a few years. I ran a candle-making business. I learned a lot from the experience... Yadda yadda. Think of all the things running your own business incorperates. Normally 10 people would be doing what 1 person does Finances Promotion Inventory Cash-handling Customer Service Office Work (copying, filing, typing, spreadsheets, etc. -- think of all the things you do) Purchasing Packing, Shipping, Receiving Order Processing Crafts Shows (and all that entails.. can't think of a better word for it right now) I'm not saying to completely blow things out of proportion, but there is a lot involved in the process of going from craft to business, being self-employed, etc..
