  1. Well. Welcome to the obsession. Don't let it overtake too much of your house. How's the Lilac working for you now? Do you notice a difference in the burn?
  2. Great that you've tested and gotten insurance - you're one step ahead of the game. Do you have a candle "specialty" (like jars, pillars, votives, wickless)? If you have your own niche, something you do and do well, that can be helpful in what way you want to market yourself and where your success is. Although, honestly you can have good marketing and a crappy product and still do OK for a while... but we won't talk about that So much depends on where you sell, your location, etc. Your big seller at a show might be different from a big seller online. What sells for me will be different from what sells for the next person. Try and look at your products, your specialty, and what will work in the market that you are selling in. 4months is very new, though... do you see a trend at all yet?
  3. Congrats on your new venture!!! I agree - great logo.
  4. I wear regular glasses with goggles over them, absolutely. It is super scary, some of the stories (and just letting imagination run wild)!! I've been pretty fortunate, but back when I first started making soap, I was coming up the stairs and almost tripped (I have a tendency to trip up stairs). After I caught my footing, I stood still for a bit, just breathing and centering myself - it could have been a bad fall; I was fortunate.
  5. LOL @ Vicky. Free shipping (after a certain amount OR at any amount - there's benefits to both). BOGO - I did this once, possibly twice and OH MY GOSH, I was put to work. It is a crazy thing, but it is kind of fun.
  6. You are super talented. I'm loving the earrings.
  7. Vicky, those are cool - nice job!!
  8. I agree with it being the best of both worlds. Everyone has their preferences; my candles are suited to how I like them as a candle consumer, and it happens to be a soy/paraffin blend (for jars).
  9. Primed preferred here as well. I prime my pillar wicks.
  10. Aw man, I remember. I love the Vanilla Wafter Cookie.
  11. (TAS - coooool soaps!!!) I've stamped cured soaps (fugly soaps, stamp available... bored.. ). It definitely can be done. It is a little more difficult, though, depending on how hard your soaps get.
  12. Gotta make something for yourself every now and then My mom recently got into beading and has been making bracelets. It seems like it could definitely be (another) craft addiction!!
  13. Is it a refined shea issue? Because it seems to me the refined she always feels grainy whereas the unrefined does not.
  14. Agreed about the BNL version - it is also spot on.
  15. That is SUPER cute. Thumbs up, girl. I love it.
  16. Oh my gosh I'm tired just looking at that. The last picture about sums it up, eh? Put your feet up and have a rest, LOL. Congrats!!
  17. Great fall colors. Those 3-wicks are one of my absolute favorites. They're beasts!!
  18. Congratulations on another notch in the fundraiser belt. I LOVE the annual fundraiser pics. The karaoke one is the icing on the cake - Kimberly you look like you were rockin' that 'mic. You go, girl. I was wondering about MA as well... Best wishes on your anthem singing. I'd love to do that - not ready yet, though.
  19. LOL. Well that's gotta count for something, right?
  20. Interesting. It is a rather expensive hobby, if it is all for play, that's for sure. As long as costs are covered, all is well (for me), but if costs weren't even covered, I couldn't justify the expense to our family budget. There's a couple of you who say it is all business and no play. Does that mean it isn't fun, either? I wonder how many would continue, for business, even if it were not pleasurable at all. Not to say people don't work every day without enjoying it - they do it for the money. But making candles/crafting for pay is different than busing tables, etc.
