  1. Hey there! Nice to see some of the same people lol I’m definitely noticing the difference already. So many new types of supplies and this board isn’t moving like it did back then. I have a feeling I’m going to stay with my 415 for containers when I start them again and a soy blend for tarts. In a perfect world I’d find a soy to fit all my needs but not likely. It’s funny how much people complain about 415 but I love it.
  2. I haven’t made candles, tarts, or soaps in years.....life got in the way. Im looking into only doing it as a hobby but am curious as to a good soy wax for tarts. In the past I used GW415 for my container candles and feather palm wax for my tarts. I’ve only used clam shells for my tarts. Right now I’m only looking at clamshells but might want to venture to different styles of tarts. Unfortunately my brother has a reaction to feather palm so I’m looking into soy. Whats everyone’s preference for soy tarts? Is there a soy that works for clamshells & molded tarts? Is there a multi soy wax that would be good for container candles, clamshell tarts and molded tarts? I wouldn’t mind having to buy a different wax for candles if needed but heck if I could find one to fit all my needs that would be amazing. TIA
  3. Looking at plans for it, it doesnt seem that hard. I think I will try to make one after I tackle making a shelf for my laundry room. Here are plans for one..... http://ana-white.com/2012/06/plans/food-storage-shelf check around on that site, theres some really fun stuff. I already made a headboard, an herb box, and am making a shelf for my laundry room. (pssssst! Im not handy at manual labor lol) She gives simple instructions, and Im sure theres more ideas on her site that can be soap related.
  4. Looks like Ill be placing an order there too lol, anybody have recommendations for them. I've seen several posts about them so I'll go search as well.
  5. I just seen that FB has Chocolate Chip Brownies-MW type? Is this what your referring to? could the brownie be a mistype? It says toll house cookie in the description. http://www.fragrancebuddy.com/chocolate_chip_cookie_dough_fragrance-1-2.aspx
  6. Thank you every one. Looks like Ill be placing a few orders lol
  7. I am in need of a great chocolate chip cookie scent? Would love a few other cookie scents as well? Mac Apple? Apple cider? Frankincense and myrrh? Clove? Thank you for any help, Ive tried doing a search especially for the CC cookies but no luck
  8. Thank you for the replies, I bought a few soaping oils and E.O.'s from Soapmakingresource. So at least thats a start and I can get some basic oils from Walmart. I think I will make a salt bar first and then maybe next batch pine tar. As to the 55 lbs of Himalayan salt lol, I have really bad psoriasis and I have to soak in it at least 3 times a week in the tub each time using about 2 cups so it adds up pretty fast. Sadly, my psoriasis is a pain and topicals don't really help not to mention I dont care to use all those steroids all the time so luckily natural things like the salt and sun help.
  9. Thank you, I really appreciate your feedback. Its so exciting to start looking into all this again. Life just happened and I just haven't had the time. Now I'm determined to start again although it seems the board has slowed down from a few years ago I will definitely be adding SAO and Sunflower oil to my shopping list lol any good places to buy supplies in small quantities, not bulk? Is New Directions or camden grey still ok?
  10. Thank you I'll up the CO, Ive never thought of Aloe Vera juice thats very interesting. Can I use the kind you'd find in the health food store? Also the Himalayan is fine ground....like powder. This is what I have http://www.saltworks.us/shop/product.asp?idProduct=1006#.U865C7HzOjI Would you recommend any special eo's or carrier oils? Im trying to put together a shopping list lol
  11. I found an old recipe I saved, does it sound correct? I have 76 oz oils/ 76 oz salt recipe as follows: 63 oz coconut oil 4 oz castor oil 4 oz olive oil 2 oz avocado oil 2 oz jojoba oil 1 oz neem oil 76 oz salt 24 oz water / 12.13 oz lye
  12. Interesting, would you mind sharing your recipe? Also, does Charcoal powder go bad? I think I might still have some lol
  13. Thank you, I stopped making soap when I moved into my new house about 4 years ago, and can't find all my notes. I have papers everywhere lol. Yup, the salt bars always did wonders for my psoriasis. Thats been my go to to fight my psoriasis: sea salt and sun or tanning. My drs give my topicals but they're all steroids and I avoid them if possible. Luckily I live in FL and near the beach so that helps as well, but right now its getting pretty bad so I have to step up my game lol.
  14. Its been in a dark cool closet. As to free flowing, do you mean not a chunk of lye lol? Sorry if that sounds like a dumb question, never had lye this long before. If your referring to chunk free it sorta is, there is a few chunks but small but it was like that when I bought it. The lye was purchased at AAA chemicals. Would save me the hassle of having to buy more since I'm trying to get back into soap making.
  15. It's been about 4 years since I've made any soap and am looking to start again. I am trying to come up with a salt bar formulation that would help with my psoraisis. -If I remember correctly 50% hard oils/50% soft oils? Im searching for my old recipe. -What % salt? -can I use GROUND pink himalayan salt? I have 55 lbs of it I use for my psoriasis. -where is everyone getting their soaping supplies nowadays? -any recommendations for E.O.'s or oils to help with psoriasis? -can you add pine tar to salt bars? Sorry for all the questions, its been so long since Ive made any soap and Im having trouble finding all my info so I'm searching this site like crazy lol Thanks for any help.
