  1. A little late in the conversation here, but I, too have used Crisco (in the blue tub) and really like the results. I hope you're able to find some to give it a try.
  2. I use the same, I don't like it with the "k" it looks weird. I do not believe it is the common spelling.
  3. Not sure how that works, honestly. If that is a marketing angle you'd like to tap into, it might not be a bad idea to make it standard on any of your products that apply. Not to sound silly, but when NTOA is used on labeling, does it mean the product and all ingredients? I'm just wondering what the "requirements" are for being able to use that lingo.
  4. That is interesting. I could see how that could work towards the advantage for groups that want to use fund sources outside of their own. Congrats, Kimberly.
  5. I went from business to hobby and am fine with it. It wasn't too hard a decision because it was supplementary income and I had secured a new job. It was more of a relief, honestly, because it was just getting to be too much for me. Now I'm back to a place where I don't *have* to make anything if I don't want to, and when I do, I can do it for fun - on my own time.
  6. That's a combination I've not yet heard about... it's been a while since I have a FO impulse-buy. IT sounds very good. I could try mixing myself, though for s&g.
  7. Yikes. Not surprising, though. Bummer about Cost Plus and Famous Footwear. I hope the Cost Plus near us is not closing.
  8. Are you looking for something with templates and picture options, or just simply something for people to subscribe to for updates, sales, etc? Yahoo and Google both have newsletter/list functions.
  9. I heard weekday as well, but it was from my husband and he wasn't sure of exactly what the deal was.
  10. Yup, I use mine as a CC, too. So basically any money that goes into your account is usable, just like any other credit/debit card. But if you don't have the funds to pay for a purchase, it will pull from the bank account you associated with it.
  11. Interesting. I did hear that they were considering dumping the older postmen (mandatory retirement?), and as candlelady said, modifying the delivery schedule. That would definitely change how business is done.
  12. Maybe... it seems there is some variance in the shades of soap. Wouldn't hurt to call, I suppose. I have had one soap that smelled off, a Jergen's soap. I bought it at the Dollar Store years ago and must have used some and forgot about it. When I took it out a couple weeks ago I thought there was something weird about it (the smell). My husband said it smelled fine. I tossed it, though.
  13. I, too, would recommend one base with additions to it, especially if you're looking to streamline your supply inventory. M&P is very versatile.
  14. Interesting. I've not had the kind intended or babies... is it different than the regular one? I've never seen it in anything but clear with very little color. Might be worth it to call the company. Looks like it has color online, but not as opaque... http://www.drbronner.com/DBMS/SENSITIVE.htm
  15. Those are nice!! Impressive, Lorrie
  16. Jola, what is the coaster made from? I can see the print on it - is it magazines or newspapers or something?
  17. This looks interesting. They could rival the Martha Molds.
  18. I always used a soy/paraffin blend, but it was never so soft that it was sticky. Just curious - but what do you advise to customers when it comes time to switch out the wax? Can you get it out easily?
  19. Haha. First batch is always an adventure. How did it turn out?
  20. Not surprised either. Those would make cute floaters, though.
  21. Hi DerekB - welcome to the forum. I moved your post to the Veggie section since it applies. It is good to give it a few burns before making a final judgement on the candle. Mark your observations (like the initial mushrooming, sweating) as a guide for later. It does sound like you may have overwicked, or just need a smaller wick for that scent/wax combo.
  22. Terra cotta you could probably find at a gardening store. However, you'd need to have some specifically for candles that were coated or shaped like the pots, but not plain terra cotta. Read the warning on these Dollar Store ones: http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/prhtml96/96158.html
  23. LOL. Ooops. That's horrible. I got some on my lip once and that was bad enough!!
