  1. We use GL's Rosemary, smells just like Vick's- very strong.
  2. We really like Peak's Spruce Christmas Tree. I don't pick up any other scents in it and it is very strong.
  3. I've printed alot off of the Millersoap website so far. I'm going to have to wait until after our busy candle time to start and it is driving me nuts because patience isn't on of my strong points. I have the Catherine Failor "Making natural liquid soaps" . We have so many customers requesting shower gels and we have yet to find a base that we like. Do any of you make the liquid soaps using the potassium hydroxide? Maybe I should post that question in the B&B thread?????
  4. We have started putting soy wax samples in our outgoing orders. We bought the lapod paint strips that we use for our home party kits. We use the clam shell tart containers that have the 24 tiny compartments from WSP. If you cut them in half it is the perfect size for in the lapods. We just cut off 3 or 4 containers and mark the sample. Our customers love it and end up ordering the scent we gave them a sample of and it only costs a few cents to do it.
  5. I know that I have bought fo just because the description was so dang cute. I think that they are missing out on a lot of fo sales because of it. It is a shame because I have always liked their customer service with everything I have bought there.
  6. After being on this board for a while now learning all kinds of info for our candles I have been bitten by the soap bug! Now I am off to buy some soaping books from ebay. I can't take it anymore I have to try soap. Wish me luck. Karen:yay:
  7. We do smellie jellies as air fresheners and most people love them, my sister and I personally HATE THEM, they are a PIA, unless we are doing something wrong, they have a tendency to spill, make a mess, and I really don't think that they smell too much. We also offer reed diffusers, melts, we tried the sachets with the kitty litter type material(they are fine for drawers, but not mcuh else). We were toying with the idea of still using the smelly jelly jars and using the crystal salts with color and oil, they don't seem to be nearly as messy and don't take a much oil. Any ideas? We just have so many requests for smellies without flame.
  8. Peak's lemongrass is very nice. They sent me a sample of their Blackberry sage that smelled wonderful, I just didn't get a chance to pour it yet. We are going to use their Botanical Orchard and Nectar is our spring line. And their Eucalyptus leaf is nice and very strong.
  9. You do have a pretty burn there!
  10. Thanks for the review. I am so glad that I found TCS. Their oils throw super strong for us too. I will have to try this one.
  11. Haven't tried it ,but it sounds fabulous. I love OMH, but not so much the almond, the descriptions sounds right down my alley, I am officially signing up to be your guinea pig with anything you might make with it. :rolleyes2
  12. Love Peaks. Brown Sugar and Fig, Amish Harvest, Mediterrean Fig, Rose Bouquet is super strong, Fresh Linen and we use their Coconut banana blast for our Monkey Farts. I have been ordering from there for a little while and didn't know that they have volume discount:( I know that we have used at least 30 lbs from there.
  13. WOW!!!! We are excited when ours are over 500.
  14. Hi Zuly, Good luck with all your testing, it sounds like you're off to a good start. I too use c-3 which has proven to be challenging, though now that we worked out all the kinks is a nice wax that we like. I have never used the rose fo that you mentioned, but I will tell you that we use Peak's Rose Bouquet and only use 1/2 an oz per lb of wax and it blows you away. It has a very true rose smell, not like rose potpourri, if you know what I mean.
  15. We probably make most of our money off of fundraisers. We have gotten a few sporting organizations and it just grew from there luckily. We have our local printer make up a two sided sheet for us for each seller, one side with the tally sheet and the other with our business info and scent descriptions for each of their ten scents. Thank goodness we only work with one person that heads the committee and give them our ground rules. We need the total before we will start and they will receive their candles 3 weeks after turn in. We give the commitee person a sample candle and tarts of the others. If anyone is persistent about scent samples(it doesn't happen too much for us) We use the polycon paint strips for our samples. They have worked well for for our home parties as well. When we have had parties that we had to mail the portion cups had a tendency to get smashed. Then we discovered the lacons, which were a little pricey, but the paint strips I think are only 37 cents and you get 9 cups attached which are easy to handle. We love them. In our home party kits we can keep our scent categories together. Works well. Sorry to ramble. I'm done now. Good luck, Karen
  16. They are both good. We use TN's, it doen't seem to take as long to cure in our c-3
  17. The wick pins from Peaks seem to be slightly concave and they pop right off
  18. I have not been disappointed in anything from Peaks yet. They are awesome
  19. I am a newbie votive maker and have been doing searches on how to use wick pins better. I just finally learned why I was having so many problems. The first wick pins I used were CRAPPY. Who knew (me that's who). I got my order from Peaks yesterday, got the wick pins out and boy, what a difference. Theirs are nice and heavy and cover the bottom of the mold. I can't tell you how many times I cut my hands and fingers on the others. And when I took them out the votive they actually come out. The others are going into the garbage. Lesson to all newbie votive makers like me, you have to buy tester wick pins like you do oils.
  20. They are beautiful. I am so jealous of all of you soapmakers.
  21. I am glad to find this thread, our insurance company quoted us $900 a year for 1 million $ coverage. I will have to contact him. Thanks so much.
  22. I'm with the rest. I have to agree though, I seem to have a hard time with my nose. I must go outside for a spell and come back in to smell. I also notice the scent seems to go up my stairs, so I sniff up there also. The best bet is to have an outside party (one who doesn't live in your house) come in and smell, because normally visitors walk in a can identify a 8 oz candle scent right away.
  23. We just recently started using this supplier and found their scents to be super strong in our c-3. This Old House- our new favorite Pumpkin Souffle Merlot Hansel and Gretels house Spicy apples and peaches Aloe and Tea Tree
