  1. Good luck to you. I am still basically new to this also, we have been doing it for about 2 years. We bought a kit form MillCreek, and it took us 6 hours to make 20 container candles. My husband came home from work, looked at me and said "How exactly are you going to make any money at this?" I was heartbroken. I am amazed how much we have learned and the good folks here on this board are so wonderful at helping. They have alot of great advice. Good luck at your new adventure. Karen
  2. I tried to do a search about this and read through several and didn't find an answer. I think I'm going to try cyclo for our body line, I haven't been satisfied with the splash bases that we have tried. They don't seem to hold the scent very well at all. My question is: do you have to package cyclo in any certain container? We have 4 oz pet bottles that we could use or is it better to put it in aluminum bottles?
  3. I would like to find the dupe for William and Sonoma's Lemon Parsley line- It smells so clean and Crisp
  4. I am an enabler. Check out Tennessee Candle supplies. They have wonderful FO's also. We love Peaks also.
  5. Seems like I'm not the only one, I really don't like the florals either. I am so with you. We put Rose Bouquet in our line- sells like crazy- and I could just scream when we have to pour it. That and Lavendar Vanilla makes choke up. We like Lavendar Milk from TCS, but are afraid to change it because the LV sells so well.
  6. Hello!!! Vetiver and Rosemary are two of my favorite scents. I want a bar of that.
  7. My sister and I decided on Sisters @ Wicks End. We both have three children, dogs, cats guinea pigs, fish, turtles (especially me, she isn't the creepy crawly no fur, kind of girl. I basically let my boys talk me into anything) We have wonderfully busy households and the name just seemed appropriate.
  8. I'm not sure if it is what you're looking for, but the have several star cut out lids at www.fillmorecontainer.com
  9. Our Christmas sales were pretty good this year. I'm getting lot's of last minute customers. 1# seller- Woods and Spices- a sellout from BCN called it Christmas Past 2# seller- Pumpkin Souffle- TNC 3# Spiced Cranberry - MC
  10. We love, love, love Tennessee's Birthday Cake. MC Lilac Breeze is one of our best sellers.
  11. Testing these boogers frustrated us. We would just like to perfect just one scent in a small apothecary and make it our signature scent. I can't even imagine testing in all of our other scents. I just wish we could find the thin ones. It really is a neat candle, though it cost $20 for an 11 oz. candle. It has a really nice scent throw. Hope it can be done.
  12. Jen B, Just curious- My sister and I wanted to try the wood wicks- we gave up. We got the wood wicks from WSP and could not get them to stay lit and had a heck of a time to light them back up. Is there a trick to it? The candle we bought is from Time & Again and the wood wick is very thin. They burn well - no trouble relighting them. Has anyone come across a supplier that has the thin wood wicks? I know that there are patents on the wood wicks and I would imagine that is why they are hard to find.
  13. We use 770 in our 16 oz mason, which I believe is a 3 in at the widest part. In hard to wick oils we go up to a 775. Good luck
  14. We also use premier 700's with our C-3 and they work very nicely with it. We tested various others and liked the 700's the best. We make 3 basic size candles in our line, so ordering the 1000 is not difficult for us, plus it is really nice that we can order them to the length that we need. For all the odd sizes that we need we get them (I think) from soycandle.com. Good luck, I think you will like them if you try them. Jessica at wickit is very helpful, if you need a smaller quanitity she will help you find them from one of their distributors. I think that is why they can't offer them in smaller quanities, they are a manufacterer, not a distributor. Good luck with all of your testing. Fun, fun. fun.
  15. We got a bigger than expected fundraiser order and normally use MC Spiced Cranberry, but when I went to place my order at MC, it is out of stock until the 10th. Has anyone used a spiced cranberry that would be similar? I think I remember a sample from somewhere that was. I'm thinking it was TCS. Has anyone smelled both? TIA
  16. No, it's not just you. The website seems to be having problems
  17. I second MC sweet orange and chili pepper. All I smell is orange. It is strong and one of our best sellers. We do need to wick this up in our soy
  18. I think your soaps are so pretty I would hate to use them!
  19. I've really had trouble finding a vanilla that works for us. I absolutely love our latest find-not exactly pure van-, but very yummy vanilla like scent- TN's birthday cake. Throws like crazy for us.
  20. I really like wearing musky vanillas or spices. My favorite scent is Vetiver and you don't really see it very often. Good luck, I'm sure your Secret santa person will like anything that you make, your the best!
  21. We use the hinged lid paint strips from lacontainer and put samples of the wax in them. That way all the little cups with samples are connected and easier to keep together. We also use them for home party kits. Lacontainer has a mininum order, but there is a place to get them that doesn't, I just can't seem to think of their website
  22. I am in almost the same boat as you are. I feel that I am pretty confident in my candlemaking, and would like to try soap now. I think back to when it took me almost 5 hours to make 20 candles and all the testing and trial and errors with that. It was a process, but got through it. Now I see all the beautiful soaps that these talented folks here make and I am inspired. They all had to start somewhere too. Kudos to all you soap makers here. You truly are artists.
  23. Yikes, I went on Fillmores website to get their phone number to order 10 cases of wax tomorrow and I noticed that their cases went up $5. Yucky- but- understandable with the rising gas prices.
  24. You will love Peak's oil. We use a lot of theirs in our line
