  1. ty stella for your input. I will let you know how the HT is on the sandlewood after it cures for a few days. I did pour a couple yesterday. I also picked up a presto pot, need to get the pour thang attached to it. Cant wait to start melting in bigger batches. TC, stay sweet, Zuly
  2. TY Tops for your input *faint* If it came accross that I was looking for your formulas, I do appoligize. I am new at candle making and am willing to test test test. After a lot of reading, I thought that this forum was for asking questions, and thats what I have done. If you read my post, I have read Stellas thread. I must of missed something on the temps, I will stay plugged in to her thread. :whip: I've been whipped, Zuly
  3. Hi all, I'm sure enjoying the cool weather here in SE LA, It's about time. Anyway here goes.... I have received the USA and picked up CO at walmart. Im still waiting on new CDN wicks from JBN, but do have some ECOS left to test with. I'm using 6 oz JJ's and no color Should I test 3 ways at a time? or more than 3 formulas at a time? 1 - no addatives 2- CO 3- USA do you ever add USA & CO to the same candle? I read the thread on tempering, I did try 1 test candle a few min ago, The sandlewood that did not have a HT in the past. I heated to 174 (w/CO), down to 153 then back up to 164, added FO and poured @ 140. (6 oz of C-3, 1/4 tsp CO, 6% FO from lonestar) Is this kinda close to even being right? LOL. I'm looking forward to hearing from y'all, TIA, Zuly
  4. ty stella, what do you mean by cooking longer, eh? do I need to start off at a higher temp? and yes, I bumped (I wish we can talk some day, since our weather is the same) Do you use CO? Stella, what sizes CDN's do you normally use with 6 oz JJ's. I'm sticking to 1 size jar untill I get this close to right. ty lanternmama, I've been reading about the CO in forum. I was going to get some today at wally world, but again its been raining and hasn't stopped yet. It sounds like, other than CO, the formula I have been following. you said all cotton braid wicks, are they from JBN also? lanternmama, I was thinking about you today watching the news, was hoping we can send you all this rain. I'm glad to hear y'all are doing good. Thanks again ladies for the input, Zuly
  5. do y'all think its humidity causing this. We always have himidity down South Louisiana but its been raining all day.
  6. tya for the replies, I just made 2 different scents using 6 oz jj's. 1) I heated 8 oz of C3 /1/2TBP of USA , to about 180 I added 5% of FO (Gypsy Rose, JBN) @ 170 poured @ 140, used ECO 6 (guess not big enough) I set them in warm (off) oven. After about an hour in the oven, they where still liquid (oops), so I put them in the laundry room where I have cured others. 2) C3/USA same way added 6% of FO (LStar Honeysuckle) @ 170 poured @ 140, used ECO 8 set in laundry room (not doing laundry) house temp was about @ 77 degrees when poured both. Yikes, they both look like they sinking by the wick. Did I add to much USA? Do I need to have a higher temp to incorporate this addative? OMG, I just looked again, it looks like a frozen lake with a hole in it and I could see the liquid. That's perty bad, I've never seen this happen. hmmmm Zuly I'm going to try the eco 10 in a few minutes, 1/2 pint or 6 oz jj. 8 oz C-3, 1/2 tbp usa, 6% FO
  7. oops sorry...and I am not adding color
  8. Hi all, I am so happy, I just received the USA today. I have been anxiously waiting to start testing again. It's been raining all day (4+ inches) but I had to drive to Post Office, lol, I couldnt wait to start. :smiley2: I noticed that I was low on wicks. I do have a sample pack of Ecos and and waiting on some Premier 700 samples. My question is, if Im using jj's which wicks are more common to use. I do need to place another order, I'm running low. I'm guessing: Eco 8 and 10's. any input would be greatly appreciated. TIA, Zuly
  9. tysm top, I would of never known *newbie here*, sounded like the same stuff to me, lol glad I asked! I did order the USA for my C3 thx for the input
  10. thx again stella, ure the best. I will try 3% first. Guess I better not wait to late to order, I'm anxious to get this in. Zuly
  11. Are these the same. I seem to get better shipping from Peaks. But I will order what works best with C-3. Any input would be greatly appreciated. thx in advance, Zuly
  12. Is the universal additive from Peaks the same as JBN? I seem to get better shipping with Peaks. Thx in advance, Zuly
  13. Wow, thats great to know, sisterkaren. I will definitely put on my peaks list. TYSM, Zuly
  14. ty'all for the replies Today I will order USA and try to test the Fo's again. I will definitely cure sandlewood much longer. The others that I am happy with I will let cure for at least a week then longer for better results. I'm in no rush. thx neighbor for your input. How much USA do add pp, eh? :undecided Majorly bitten by the bayou bug, aaaaaaeeeeeeeee, Zuly PS my left hand still smells like Caramel & Nut Clusters from last night, can't seem to wash it off, LOL, very strong FO
  15. Hi all, I hope I'm not too long winded as this is the first time posting here. I started making candles (C-3) exactly 8 days now, 8 oz's at a time . Taking it very slow. Thank you for the great info. I tend to do alot of homework before getting to excited about a new hobby. (and yes that-girl, very addicting already) Thank you Carebare for your warm welcome. The first 2 scents, honeysuckle & sandlewood (lonestar) had no HT at all. LOL, I know I did it all wrong and the sandlewood you can hardly even smell out the bottle. Oh well my loss, newbie that ordered 8 oz's each. Since then, I ordered a sample pk of lonestar yankee scents and a sample pk from snowtop. AND then I found this forum, ty ty ty ty . I will try some peak scents after I test what I have. Saturday, I tried the honeysuckle again, 6% FO, 170, poured @ 143, eco6.......I can get a HT in bathroom now, I will wick up to eco8 next time. Sunday, OMG Rose Bouquet (snowtop). I've always loved a good rose scent. 6% FO, 170, poured @ 140, eco8 Yesterday I tested the rose for HT I was pretty happy with it, there was actually a HT, hehehehe... I will try a bit more FO next time. Since then, I have poured Cactus & Sea Salt (ICS), Clean Cotton (LS) very smooth top and tonight, Caramel & Nut Cluster (ST), very strong by the way. I will test these after 48 hr cure time. I touched base with wickit.net (thx to post) and they are sending me samples of wicks for me to test with my C-3. I have been using the ECO's. Questions: C-3 specs say that 6% FO is typical and higher amounts could be achievable with additives. I am using no color right now and no additives. I would like to use a bit more FO on the rose bouquet for example, do I need to add something else to my wax? Do I need to order additives for future?? I havent seen any info on lids, LOL, plz don't laugh. When do you cover your candles? Ok then, that's it for now. I wanted to tell you a bit about myself. I sure have learned alot here and hope to learn a bunch more. thx in advance from S Louisiana, Zuly
