  1. I live in PA. We get our flower pot votives at a craft store called AC Moore. They are normally about $.45 , but a lot of times you can get them on sale for $.25. We get lids for them at BitterCreek North. I believe they also sell the flower pots, but we get them locally to save on the shipping.
  2. We are testing in a 16 oz mason and a 8 oz. jelly. We use 1 oz fo to 1 lb of wax normally, I think i'll try to use a little less cinnamon oil. We actually have had to change our wicks for the c-3 because our htps went wild in both sizes of jars. I loved our 415 wax, we had our candles just like we wanted, but found the c-3 wax where we can pick it up instead of shipping. It saves us approximately $100 per 200 lbs, so we are trying really hard to like the c-3. Testing, especially when you have everything worked out, is the pits. Oh well, we are learning as newbies that is just how it is. Thanks.
  3. We love the cinnamon stick fo from millcreek and use it in our smelllie jellies, but have yet been able to wick it correctly. We tried it in our ezsoy and never got it right. Now we are trying i t in our c-3 and wicked it up two sizes from our normal oil and it melts to about half the jar and then (I don't know the correct term for it) but it won't burn down any farther and smells burnt. We gave up before, but I would love to put this in our line. Any suggestions?. We have been testing with the premier 700 wicks and love them. Our normal oils seem to be doing well with the 750's. Thanks, Karen
  4. We used the ezsoy and loved it and we had everything tested out. We had to pour at a very slushly stage to keep it from cracking and the only problem we ever had was poor glass adhesion which never bothered us too much. We used the htp 126 for our 16 oz mason and the htp 105 for our 8 oz jelly. We are still working on the wicking for the c-3. It is beyond frustrating. I think we like the premier 700 series wicks. We don't know the pricing on them yet, but they burn nicely with hardly any soot and mushrooming. I am very impressed with them. It is so nice talking to you all. Karen
  5. My sister and I have a small soy candle business and soy body products(very simple, we buy the soy bases from millcreekand add fo). We would love to add somethings for kids. I think it would be a good selling point for our consultants to have. I would love some ideas for some cute, but simple things for kids. I love the goldfish soaps. We wouldn't have a lot of time to make complex things (some of the soaps that I have seen here have been beautiful, you guys are so talented.) So we were just looking for some ideas. Thank you all. Karen
  6. Thanks everyone, I ordered some samples tonight. There is so much invaluable information on this message board, I'm so glad that I found it. The only problem is that I spend do much time on the computer now, I feel like I'm addicted.
  7. Does anyone know where I can find a good vetiver fo? I actually want it for me. After much searching I haven't come up with anything. We normally aresoy candlemakers and are venturing into B&B. Thanks, Karen
  8. After much pouring and testing today I've found that the c-3 pours nicer for us a little cooler than they advise, about 130 was good for us. Not many sinkholes and relatively smooth tops. I have figured out for the c-3 that I love the cdn wicks, so far they give a good melt pool without mushrooming at all. I like them much better than the htp's, rrd's, eco's and cotton cores. Just some info for all of you struggling like we were with our new soy wax. Thank you all. Karen
  9. Thanks for the responses. My sister and I are about pulling our hair out( hence the name of our business "Sisters @ Wicks End") We have tested this wax for about 3 weeks now working out the kinks testing wicks none of which we are very happy with. We are on our cdns now. We need to wick them up and test again. So far they are our favorites, they do not mushroom like the others. We have our 30 scents to test once we narrow down to our favorites I can't wait! LOL. We have the premier 700 to come yet and have no idea what to expect. It was nice to hear from someone near by. Thanks for all the advice.
  10. I was wondering if anyone knows why to pour the c-3 so hot? I have the sink hole problem with it as I have read that many others have with this wax. We used ezsoy before and had wonderful results, but found the c-3 45 minutes from our shop and would save so much in shipping. I'm having a hard time loving this wax. We poured our ezsoy slushing, if we didn't -sink holes. That is why I was curious why the pour temp on c-3 is 165. Does any one know? Our supplier is new to the wax and mostly a container wholesale distrib. Thank you all. Karen:)
  11. Hi, I'm Karen, relatively new to candlemaking(about a year), we are trying a new wax for us since we can get it locally now and are having problems with testing. We had used ezsoy and liked it. We now are testing with the cargill c-3 and are having issues. We use 1 oz. fo to 1 lb wax and are pouring at about 160. We are testing wicks and so for the rrds are working the best. Our biggest problem is the sink holes in our 16 oz. masons. We are cooling them in a boox together to cool slower. It's not working. We are getting very frustrated. Any suggestions. Thank you all.
