  1. Sure is getting traffic to her site though. Maybe negative traffic but she has 40 people on her site just a second ago. Anyone contact her webhost?
  2. I have used online labels in the past and labels by the sheet but for my oval labels I used online labels. However, i've wasted more labels then not because lately they just won't print correctly. Anyone have any opinions about the 3.25 by 2 inch oval labels or any other labels from labels by the sheet? LBTS labels would be smaller as my others are 3.93 by 1.93. I use 8 oz square mason jars. I noticed about a 4 dollar difference in the two for the same amount of labels. Just wanted thoughts on LBTS and if anyone had used them. Would it be that much of a difference betweent he two labels if I switched? What is thoughts on that? i have to order today but wanted to run it by everyone to see what thoughts were.
  3. Thanks for the replies. I phoned him and told him that as he knew I couldn't help him and I had asked a few others and that no one felt comfortable making one and/or they wouldn't be able to have it by the end of July. Previously I had explained the reason why I don't make them was because I don't feel comfortable doing so and i don't do many pillar type candles. (they just don't sell for me). I thanked him for contacting us and told him I regret not being able to help him but if he needed anything in the future don't hesitate to call and see if I can help him.
  4. I have a wholesale account that is new. They are wanting to purchase candles from me. They have already purchased aroma ornies. they have asked if I would offer a reduced price candle in each scent along with the ones they purchase. they will be purchasing 8-10 scents to start and 4 candles of each at regular price. My thing is already they are getting them at wholesale. They said they would pay wholesale if they had to but by burning them sales increased in the past. I have never had a wholesale customer ask me this so I am confused as to what to do. I only offer the 8 ounce square mason jar style candle as I have found it the best seller in my area. What advise do you all have regarding this? I could sell at cost in hopes that it increases sales and I could make them purchase it at regular wholesale. I just don't know what my better option in the end would be. What do you advise? I don't want to shortchange myself and I don't want to seem like I am a hard to work with business either. In today's economy, you have to look out for yourself or you'll go out of business.
  5. I have been contacted by customer wanting a unity candle. I don't make them and he asked if I knew of anyone. I don't off hand but said I am a member of a candle group and would ask to see if anyone else did. Here is the details of what he is wanting: He wants a white unity canlde about 9 inches high about 4-5 inches in diameter and he wants his son's wedding invitation put on the side of it or inside the candle so that when it's lit the wax drips around the invitation. I haven't ever heard of that but he is wanting it done. Because I don't do these types of candles I don't even know if it can be done. If anyone can do this (and it can be done safely), let me know and I will get you into contact with him. He needs it by the end of July though. He said the maker doesn't have to be from TX he just has to have it by the end of July. I told him I would try to let him know something by tomorrow or early Thursday. Thanks
  6. I hear labeling laws can vary per state but I have a question. What are soap labeling laws for products in Texas? Anyone know? I don't make soaps myself but there is a company that I know of that does and they make claims like shaving soap, moisturizing soap, dry skin soap, etc and yet they have not labels at all on the soap when you buy it. I don't buy it but know some who have. A friend of mine broke out after buying it at a craft show from this company. There was not a label at all on it. Nothing staying who manufactured it or how to contact them or even what was in it. I thought they had to package it some how. They simply gave it to her in a cute cellphane baggie tied with ribbon. No label no anything. Is this legal? She doesn't know what caused her to break out and can't contact them either. I am concerned cus I hear they are opening a store in a local town. Again, I don't know the laws as it pertains to labeling but I thought if you made special claims such as moisturizing, etc you had to list ingredients. Just curious. Thanks.
  7. I would follow this up with a phone call or a postal mail letter. I cannot blame you for being upset. A contract is a contract and should be treated as such and if you weren't properly represented or if the show was improperly handled, then I feel you should get your funds back.
  8. The fact that they ask for a total and the English is a little off screams scam to me. You can also check here as many of them are listed at this site: http://www.printnet.com.au/scammers_identified.html
  9. I totally agree with the above. I do not cut breaks because I don't want my friend's friend trying to say "well so and so only paid X amount why do I pay more." Retail price or nothing is how I do it. But of course like Deb the close friends and family get freebies all the time anyway.
  10. My gosh!!! I definately would pass on those shipping costs. I've been leary of them too so I've never ordered. I try to stick to reputable places. In fact I don't even like ordering from Amazon or Ebay very often.
  11. That would be great IF there was a Staples here. May have to check in Houston.
  12. I have a fundraiser and another information brochure made up using my own software. Does anyone know a reasonable printing service I could try that doesn't have extremely high minimums or service charges? We have an Office Max here but that is all we have and I haven't checked what they charge....not yet...figured I'd ask here first.
  13. First off, by posting here, you are obviously upset about the situation (who wouldn't be). Secondly, if she can't pay her bills, what makes you think she will pay you? Take it from someone who has been there, done that and bought the t-shirt. I did a similar set up in a mall once. Over 3000 dollars in product. Always an excuse on why he couldn't pay me (or he wouldn't be there when I went to get paid). Eventually, I did get a check from him, only to have it bounce and my bank froze my entire account. I had to get mean and eventually was able to recover 1600 dollars through a money order from him. Never saw anything else and come to find out he wasn't doing this to just me. He ended up getting arrested and did a bit of jail time although he is out now. I never did recover the rest of my money but was lucky enough to be there with mall management (who had changed the store locks) pulling my product off his shelves when the detective came in and seized everything in the store for evidence. I was allowed to go ahead and get my product but only because I was there right then. Mall management locked him out of the store and everything became state property. I ended up losing over 2000 dollars total with this guy. Get out while you can is my advise. I know $45 dollars may seem like a lot but take that $45 and multiply it by a few months and it adds up. You don't need the worry or the stress. Get out and don't look back.
  14. You can request MSDS from the suppliers you get your supplies from. Most of those state where the product originated and you can go from there.
  15. Geesh...I got the same email AGAIN...exact same. Third time in less than a week. I guess he forgot who he sent it to. LOL. Marked as spam so hopefully I won't see it anymore.
