  1. I just tested 8 samplers from her. I haven't had a chance to write reviews. I do recall, they were all good. In my rating scale, all but one rated a ten out of ten. The remaining one, rated a nine out of ten. I use 4627, 10%, eco wicks. Three that may be nice for this time of year (all rated a 10): Christmas Pines- I think possibly the nicest/strongest pine that I've tried. It's a wowser! Fall Harvest- not identical to, but very similar to FOH Atumn Harvest, a smell I happened to like. I think appx $18/lb Grannies Pumpkin Cookies- Wonderful throw, perhaps a bit sweeter than CS Pump Souffle (which is also wonderful) Eve
  2. Mystical_angel1219, I don't feel like I am browbeating anyone. I repeated the question, why is no one stepping up to the plate and I encouraged people to be courageous. This is not browbeating. Look up the definition, if you like. I may be straightfoward and frank. However, I don't think that it is possible to dominate or subjugate through a computer screen. By your own account, you are "hip to the suppliers that do this on a constant basis." and yet, you do not share your information. If you want to chime in, atleast bring something informative to the table, like the identity of these unscrupulous suppliers that you are "hip" to. This way, we can all be "hip". This thread isn't about me. It's about the weight of fragrance oil samplers, in particular one's whose weight is misrepresented (underweight). Eve
  3. It's fine that you want to give them a chance to resolve it, but I think you said that three of the bottles were underweight? I think that might be a pattern? Maybe they had a problem with their scale? If it is a reputable supplier, they will resolve it. If it is a reputable supplier, they wouldn't care if you named them- if when they fixed the problem, you would follow up your comments with that fact. Everyone can make a mistake. But, they have to fix it, if they want to be let off the hook. With my particular situation, the suppliers' first response was to ask me if I took the fragrance oil density into account. If I had looked at the manufacturer's MSDS data sheets? They threw everything at me to get my wheels to stop spinning. They didn't realize that I was a chemist, familiar with both msds data sheets and density. I couldn't help laugh, because I don't even think that they include flashpoint info on their labels:laugh2: I believe it says on their site (just like most sites) oils are sold by weight. Duh, one ounce = one ounce. We're not talking fluid oz, here. So, in other words, far from reputable. When I responded to their scientific inaccuracies, they stopped responding to my emails. They only responded once I put in a claim thru paypal. And even then, they lied. They told paypal that they had offered me a $5 store credit toward a future purhcase. They did say that I am incorrect, that I could never get the entire ounce out of the bottle. I am in the process of looking into that. Nonetheless, some bottles contained only .8 oz fo, so I am more apt to believe that it is further bs/lies. We'll see. I have the means to run assays, in an unofficial capacity. I may just do it. I am just floored by Brighterscents/Gellumination unprofessional handling of my situation. However, if I would have just checked BBB, I would have found That BS has an unsatisfactory rating. I dealt with Gelluminations; If my situation isn't rectified, they will probably end up with unsatisfactory, as well. I just hope that if the underweight situations isn't rectified/ or is a pattern, that you would let us know. We may still choose to use the supplier, but atleast we would do so with our eyes open. Eve
  4. It really shouldn't happen. Of course, a supplier should be given benefit of doubt (scales off, employee mistake, etc.) But, if this is a suppliers "policy" rather than a mishap, It would be nice to know. Blest2Be American, asked who the supplier was and I was the only one to come foward and speak the truth. That's pitiful. I can't believe as a fellow candle maker, a person wouldn't share this information. How can a buyer beware. I guess that they are afraid or whatever, but, gosh.....be courageous....there's no better way to live. I'm glad I told, Eve
  5. Aww...c'mon...no one? That's not very helpful:highfive: Eve
  6. I am curious as to why no one else stepped up to the plate and named the supplier? Are you still in the process of trying to rectify the situation? Are you afraid of being "blackballed" by supplier? Just curious. I thought that this forum was intended for candle makers to help one another. If people were more apt to speak honestly then there would be no threat of being "blackballed". The power would be with the consumer, as it should be. Eve
  7. Some wonderful ones from RE/AH are Satsuma Pink Sugar (SNC) Interlude Sweet Amber Musk Atlantic Sea Kelp
  8. I have tried this. It threw extremely well (4627, 10%, eco wick). It is a feminine perfume type smell. I don't know how else to explain it. It's not fruity, floral, fresh, sweet or anything like that. It is not musky, masculine. There are no vanilla undertones. Eve
  9. As many have said, The CS Pumpkin Souffle is very nice and throws well (4627). However, I just tried Flickers "Grandmas Pumkin Cookies" and it was just wonderful. I will post results soon, did 8 from Flickers this week. Eve
  10. I'm not sure if you're asking me, or Candlebuddy or 8 Gran Ones? But, the one I'm speaking of is Brighterscents/Gelluminations. However, like I said, I am hoping that they will rectify and I will post if/when they do. I don't mean rectify my little .1 oz losses; I mean rectify the method of only accounting for .2 oz when their bottle/cap actually weighs .3 oz. I will post by the middle of next week. I will give them till Wed to respond. That will be two weeks and I think that is more than enough time to address an issue. Eve
  11. I just got 20 from a certain supplier and everyone was under weight, most by .1 oz and a few by .2 oz. I am in the process of trying to resolve this; will post if and when I do. I told them that I would not be able to continue purchasing from them if they do not fix their situation. They are weighing out their fo in a capped bottle; they are allowing .2 oz for bottle and cap, meanwhile I tested five empties (bottle and cap) and they all weighed .3 oz. I emailed them (more than once) with this info; It has been a week and I am still awaiting a response:confused: . Many of the fragrances were quite nice. I am almost finished testing and will post results and fragrance descritions soon. I hope they fix their situation because I would like to continue using them. I also got 8 from a different supplier- FLICKERS- and every one of them was OVERWEIGHT!! Most were 1.1 oz but a couple were 1.2 oz. Now, that's the way to do it. The fragraces are wonderful; I am almost thru testing. Will post results soon. I also got a few from ICS and they were all on the money. Fragrances were phenomenal as usual. I am almost thru testing; will post results soon. Eve
  12. How about Tranquil Sleep (BBW Type) from NG? It is a pleasant soft baby type of smell. It wouldn't fit into a floral, fruit, clean, etc type of category. I think it could appeal to a number of people without being offensive to anyone. Eve
  13. Shari- The Apple and Clover oil has a very good throw. I've used it in 4627, 10% fo, 10 oz jar with an eco 10 and it did my whole open floor plan. It reminds me of straight apple, no cinnamon, no food but perhaps the slightest, slightest floral note in backround. I was thinking that the new Mac Apple would be similar and throw similarly well. I will try it, but definitely start with the one ounce size. Thanks for review. Jadewicks- thanks for cedarwood van description. I am glad to hear it is not drowning in very vanilla. I don't like when the earthy scents are overly sweet. I am holding off till last day of sale before I order. I am in the process of testing about 35 or so samplers (ICS, Flickers, BS) that I bought a couple of weeks ago. Will post reviews when I have them. Eve
  14. Thanks for the reviews. Too bad there were no "wowsers" in your bunch:( Eve
  15. I second Mango Sorbet. However, even purchasing 1 lb. will run you over $2/oz. You do get free shipping on fragrance orders over $50 if you shop thru the http://www.fragranceandflavors.com/ Cucumber mint is a bargain oil that I do like. For the prices they charge, it's tough to justify fragrance oil purchases from them. They do have a wide selection of lotion and shower gel bases. Eve
  16. I just got a sampler of Fall Leaves from Gelluminations.....can only vouch for oob. I liked it..kinda patchouli...kinda opium-ish...earthy with a feminine perfumy base. I will let you know about throw when I test it. Eve
  17. Wax is igi 4627, fo is 10%, wick is eco 2 and container is a one oz. tin, appx 2" diameter. I am using a new testing method. I am now allowing the candle to burn for 2 hours before I rate it. I am using my master bedroom which is appx 15'x20' with 8 ft ceilings. If the candle scent/throw is rated a 10, it has amazing throw and is a powerful "knock your socks off" scent. (ie Hansel/Gretel from CS, Sweet Amber Musk for AH, Strw Rhub from Flickers) If the candle scent/throw is rated a 9, it scents the room wonderfully but doesn't knock you over the head. (ie CS Mango Papaya, ICS Moonlight Path). If the candle scent/throw is rated an 8, it scents the room noticeably, but may require a larger candle (CS Ocean Mist, AH Almost Paradise). If the candle scent/throw is rated a 7, it is a barely there type of scent and I don't reccomend it. If I can't pick up on any scent at all, I rated the oil a 0. CC - Solace- beautiful scent...too bad barely there............7 NG. Fruit Slices- YEAH...Love it. Fruit/not sweet candy. Have to reduce fo %....got a little fuel smell. I got a couple of sampler/freebies and decided to post results. Brandy Pear....just like everyone says...AWESOME.....10 Lav Cuke and SAge....for me...barely there................7 Peppermint and Eucalyptus....stronger than euc/spearmt..10 Very Vanilla.......sweet strong vanilla........................10 I just got a sample of coconut......great oob. Gelluminations had a sale and I got a bunch of samplers for about $1 each. Aspen Winter....BBW dupe.......beautiful holiday scent.......9 Bayberry.......very nice..not as strong as AH...................9 Black Rasp Vanilla....nice oob, ,,,,,,no throw for me........0 Cinn and Clove.....my daughter fav of the bunch..............8 Fresh Waterfall........clean, water scent..........................9 Mango Papaya....similar to CS.......................................8 Orange Drop Cookie........great oob but no throw for me ...0 Passionfruit and Guava.........no throw for me ...............0 Peony Petals..........may have to wick up........................7 Pumpkin Pie Paradise.....cant put my finger on scent. Is beautiful. BBW dup...loved it.......9 Rain Shower.....another nice water scent. Light....8 Snow Drift. My fav of the bunch. Reminded me of ozone. Loved it. 10 Tiare Flower. Yank Dup........no throw for me ........0 I had a few duds in this bunch. Still I am draw to the variety at Gelluminations. Their scents speak to me. BTW- don't remember when it was posted but a CT member questioned whether Gelluminations provides a diff quality oil for it s one ouncers vs. the full size. I tested my second bottle of Coco Peach and it had the same amazing throw as the first sampler (9). HTH Eve
  20. Sorry about spelling error in title/heading. I get "revved" up about ICS, so these are oil 'revies' Wax is igi 4627, fo is 10%, wick is eco 2 and container is a one oz. tin, appx 2" diameter. I purchased my favs from ICS, which are Moonlight Path, Cukes and Melons, Pink Sugar and Raspberry Guava. I noticed they had a section called "Garage Sale", so I tried a few of these oils which were about 50 cents/oz. I also tried a couple of samplers of new scents. English Daisies....very nice floral.............9 Madagascar Vanilla.....YEAH!! Beautiful Dupe. Inexpensive......9 Olive Blossom.......not at all floral...totally olive (slight sweet)..10 Orchid....Whoa...heavy duty floral shoppe...........10 Passion Kisses....really nice......fruity, candy ............10 Salty Sea Air...clean nice, kinda like cuc and melon to me? 9 Tiger Lilly........couldnt get it to throw .......0 Love the oils at ICS. Prices can't be beat. The Van Madagascar was either 13.95 or 15.95; other suppliers charge over $25/lb for this oil. Still have Cactus and Sea Salt to test. Will post reviews when I do. Eve

Great quality, good prices, shipping was ok bec I caught the sale. Usually shipping sucks. Eve
  22. After recieving a one ounce freebie from AH/RE of Atlantic Sea Kelp, I became a huge fan of this ocean scent. It is truly something. I definitely smell salt, sand, seaweed. Also, it was very strong. I was able to open my windows and let the breeze blow thru...it felt like I was on the ocean shore. I tried the two from CS, I tried a couple from ICS (will post reviews soon), I tried a couple of others from AH (will post reviews soon) but none have been as good as the Atlantic Sea Kelp. My neighbor tried my tester candle as well. She liked it but felt it was a little "sushi" after a few hours. It is very similar to being by the ocean in terms of the salt, seaweed, etc. I kind of dug it; my neighbor, not so much. I loved burning it in connection with coco peach (geluminations). The two fragrances together reminded me of that smell you get after a day at the beach. Eve
  23. I tried it. Threw well (4627; 10%). However, not a dup of Sensual Amber ... closer to a sweet amber. If you want a dup of Sensual Amber, I believe that Gelumination and Foh have it...they threw the same so you might want to get it wherever it is less expensive. But, if you want the most awsomest amber than get Sweet Amber Musk from AH/RE because this amber is so strong that a 6 oz candle fills an entire house in about a half hour. It is a sweet feminine scent The sensual amber is a beautiful scent (not as sweet as the sweet amber). However, it is lighter and fills a bedroom; it might get lost in a big open space. Eve
