  1. I've just ordered it from Wholesalebodyoils.com last week. I will post when I get it (tomorrow). I am trying a few of the oils to see how close they are to originals and if they can incorporate with wax. We'll see. Eve
  2. AH has an oil called Interlude that they say is their Angel dupe. hth, Eve
  3. I use 4267, 2.75" jars, eco 6 wicks (most fo). When I pour Moon Lake Musk I wick up to an eco 10. I know you're using different parameters but I thought I'd tell you how that particular fo behaves for me. hth, Eve
  4. I use eco's (4267) and don't experience too much mushrooming. However, I was doing a cuc melon (BNL) last night and I got a little shroom on my eco 8. I think it has something to do with fo, as well. Eve
  5. I use eco wicks with this wax. I use 7 oz tumblers (2.75" diameter). My predominant wick is eco 6, some foody vanillas take eco 8 and Lavender and a couple of florals use eco 10. My thoughts would be that if I were to try that jar, I would probably try eco 8, 10 and 12, in the same way I listed above because I believe that jar is approx 3.25" diameter. hth, Eve
  6. Unfortunately, I didn't get to test last night but I had already burned the Fig & Cassis and I rated it a 10, which means using igi 4627 with fo at 10%, 2" tin with eco 1 wick scented my 20x30 basement very, very well. That being said, because of the burning, the wick smell is throwing off my cold throw, but as I said previously the smell was nice but not quite as nice as the fig/cassis from WSP (in my memory). I also had the Fig and the Pomegranite Fig. Of these two, it is the Pom Fig that mimics the Jo Malone Fig Cassis, not the wild fig. hth, Eve
  7. I bring 72 candles (approx 20 scents) and 40 sleeves (6pk) of tarts in about 12 scents, some may differ from the candles. I bring 24 Tart Warmer Sets. Eve
  8. I believe that I bought both and poured, but did not test yet. I am at work, but I will try them tonight and let you know. Sorry to add this to the mix, but I have used the WSP Fig & Cassis, it is a dup of Jo Malone and is quite phenomenal but somewhat expensive. Eve
  9. Thanks for the info regarding the stablizer, I may have to look into that in the future. I just felt like doing something today with a block of mp that I bought in Dec. The scents that I settled on (4-5 bars each): Cranberry Fig - colored it purple/pink Coolwater/men - colored it lt. blue Mystic Woods - colored it green/white Coco Beach - colored it peach Sweet Amber musk - colored it pink, it seems to have discolred to lt. tan Ginger Lime - green and it seems to have discolred lt. tan Sea Island Grapefruit - colored it yellow/white Indonesian Teak - colored it blue/white Now, I guess only time will tell if they darken. What I wasn't crazy about was how scents like Orange Chiffon Cake, Pink Sugar, etc turn very dark brown and make a brown lather - I was hoping to avoid that. We'll see, Eve
  10. Hi, I am going to make some mp soap. I am not crazy about brown soaps so I know that I shouldn't use fo with vanilla. I would love some suggestions of fo's that do not turn brown and are strong smelling. Thanks Eve
  11. I was wondering how these dupes worked out? thanks, eve
  12. Berts is extremely strong but not a bbw dup. BNL is a dup and it is nice and strong butt not as strong as Berts. hth eve
  13. Thanks for your help everyone. Just one more question - can anyone recommend a good Pie Crust FO? Thanks, Eve
  14. Koalagirl - just to let you know, it will be pretty simple to figure out what you are making per/hour since you already know in/outlay. What I did last year, along with keeping records of what I spent/earned, is I kept track of all of the time I made product, spent at parties/fairs (as well as my travelling time to/fro), spent with people who came to my house to buy, etc. The one thing I did not do last year (but I will this year) is keep track of all of the candles/tarts, etc that I gave away as gifts/tips (money earned would be greater if I gave these a value). Eve
  15. I, too, turn a profit but when I compare it to my regular job (Chemist with Dept of Health), it is less. If I were to work out what I make per hour doing each job, I do better at my full time job. I don't do horribly with candles (I set an acceptable minimum that I would accept per/hour and I did exceed that). I love candles so I have accepted that I make less per hour than I do during my regular work week. I'd like to keep it at such a level that I could turn a profit (an hourly wage that is acceptable to me) and continue to love candles. If my hourly wage was too low, I would continue to make candles for myself and friends, but I would most likely stop the craft shows, parties, etc. I do not allow the candles to take over my life and I have turned down certain opportunities that I thought might lead to being inundated with orders that I could not fill. I do not desire a store, having employees or things of that nature, atleast, not now. I don't want to fall out of love with candles. Eve
  16. Just be careful bec Indo teak (whispers of love) is the same as Tuscan Lace. IMO the foh Sensual Secrets (Vanilla Sandalwood) is somewhat stronger and nicer than the Flickers Vanilla Sandalwood) but they are similar enought to not order both. I wonder if in time, Elements will carry one and drop the other? I know some suppliers keep everything but it doesn't seem necessary to me. I imagine that Autumn Harvest, Cinn Apple Berry and Snowdrift Berries will be added when Holiday time comes. Those were nice. Rocky Mt. Christmas was similar enough to Christmas Pines to not be necessary (imo). Eve
  17. The apple dumpling seems quite "cinnamon-y" to me, so I am not sure that I'd want to add more? I was sniffing thru my stuff and I thought maybe the NG H&G House (it seemed buttery-cakey)? I am not sure. But to clarify. I dip 3 q-tips with the Apple Dumpling and 1 q-tip with the cake/pie crust scent, put in a bag, allow to marinate and this would be similar to a 3:1 mix? I could also try a 1:1, 2:1, etc? This is how I am understanding this. Thanks, eve
  18. I have this oil and it has a very nice throw. I just wish it was a bit sweeter. I have seen pie crust fo; is that what I would need to add to it? Would a sweet vanilla fo do the trick? Is there a ration I should start with, i.e. - 1:4 or something of that nature. I would appreciate any input as I don't usually tweek fragrance oils. Thanks in advance. Eve
  19. Has anyone tried these Mr. Missy's oils? Even if you haven't poured, would like an oob description as to which notes are more prominent, etc. Thanks in advance. Autumn Leaves Baby Fresh Cedar Patchouli (I know a few have commented on liking this one) Cinnamon Spice Cake Citrus Verbena Fig & Lychee French Strawberry Hydrangea Lavender (how does it compare to CS?) Lemon Head Lemon Lime (Any comparison btwn Citrus Verb, Lemon Head & Lemon Lime?) Ocean Breeze Pinapple Coconut Plumeria Pomegranante Roasted Chestnut Root Beer Float (like Yank's?) Rose Rosemary Mint (Aveda type?) Sugared Plums Tropical Punch If anybody have any info on those I haven't listed, please add. Thanks, Eve
  20. Is it a dup of the i profumi Vaniglia del Madagascar ? Eve
  21. Thought I'd add a little something to this post. I remember a few years back, right after the holidays, I recieved quite a few calls from people who recieved my candles as gifts who wanted to buy more. Last year, January was soooo quiet, I only recieved two calls. This year, I've already recieved 5 calls in the last 4 days for orders from people who recieved my candles as gifts. I think that may say something about the economy. I feel quite positive about it. Hopefully, it keeps up. Eve
  22. I think that I will end up just slightly under last year (5%), unless last minute shoppers call me for Christmas items. Craft shows were down about 25% across the board. I skipped a few shows and booked parties instead. The parties were up and customers were repeat customers. I did a small fundraiser and I believe this made up for the 25% that was lost at craft shows. I shyed (sp?) away from expensive shows and stuck to shows that ran me anywhere from $25-40. I only did three shows that cost $60 or more. I had excellent return on table fees with only one being under 10x. Scented, I believe it was you, who posted earlier this year that if we could stick it out, this year would be a good measuring stick. If this year was as bad as it gets, that's nice to know. Hopefully, we have nowhere to go but up. Eve
  23. I liked the Apple Dumpling, Lemon Biscotti, Christmas Tree, Aspen Forest, Van Latte and Tranquil Sleep. I just purchased Cool Water and Creme Brulee but have yet to put them in wax. Oils were very nice and prices were very fair. Eve
  24. Just curious, to the two responders who said that they only do shows that average $1000 or $1500 for the day, what type of table fee are you spending for that type of venue. I ask, because I've been hesitant to pay big money for tables/shows. So basically, I am trying to spend $60 and under for my shows (and hope for 10-15x table return). Thanks in advance for the info. Eve
