  1. Well, I did sell all of the Hanukkah tart warmer sets, plus a few other fall sets and 5 candles (it was only a 1 hour cocktail hour/shopping venue). The ladies absolutely loved the idea of something specifically for Hanukkah. It is a wonderful way to package blue tart warmers. I found out Hanukkah is all about the food (atleast, with this crowd), so the food smells is probably a good way to go. Eve
  2. Well, I'm going to be doing a small show at a Temple on Wed. evening. I am bringing my usual array of candles and tart sets but I am going to put a dozen Hanukkah tart sets together. The warmers will be either blue or white, with a blue/silver bow. I am including three tarts: Latkes & Applesauce (apple pie) Ruggaleh (cin vanilla) Hanukkah Gelt (Chocolate) I will let you know how it goes. Eve
  3. I appreciate the heads up. Could you please tell me who the three suppliers who reformulated are? Thanks, Eve
  4. Lonestar had a very nice Choc Chip Cookie Dough. Very nice and reasonable priced. Eve
  5. I tried geeoils and could not get them to incorporate in my wax. The man was nice and reimbursed me, telling me to just throw oils out. I tried mango raspberry, coco mango and pearberry but none were good. Eve
  6. The most I ever did was about 300 in a twelve hour span. It included wicking, pouring and packaging. I guess this is about 25/hr. I worked pretty steadily w/o down time. I have a sigle presto pot. I thought that I was hot stuff....but, now I'm not so sure. Eve
  7. I use 4627, eco wicks, 10% fo load. So far I have poured Powdered Sugar, Christmas Cranberries and Northwood Balsam. They all threw phenomenally and were very nice. My friend says powdered sugar is a dup of Yank Buttercream. Eve
  8. Hi, I was asked to do a fundraiser and I am currently doing it. It will probably be about 300-400 candles. I was lucky enough to get a good deal on a limited supply of jars and am using these. I do like how this works. I make the candles and the lady picks them up. I might like to take this to the next level and solicit fundraisers but I had a few questions before I take the dive. I would love to question anybody who does this but I prefer to do it off board. If anyone has the time, please pm me. Thanks in advance, Eve
  9. I asked a Jewish person and she suggested: Latkas and Applesauce (an apple cake scent) Hamentash (an Apricot scent) Ruggalah (a cake/cinnamon scent) I guess she likes the food types. Eve
  10. I got mine, too. I can only say oob, and it will be some time before I can pour and burn. I still have yet to burn the 20 or so I poured from AH Sale. All were strong and pleasant oob. I got 10 different ones. Powdered Sugar - a very sweet vanilla. Similar to Tahitian Van Spice (FOH) Jasmine Honeysuckle - Could be called Jasmine. Don't pick up on too much Honeysuckle. Victorian Vanilla - Nice vanilla, with a slight undertone of a tobacco leaf. Northwood Balsam - Nice Pine, not similar to any that I have in house to compare it too. Maybe, Aspen Winter?? Christmas Cranberry - Fruity, no spice. Doesn't remind me of a fall scent. Maybe a touch of cinn added or apple cinn? Raspberry - A BBW dup. Very nice Apple Blossom Peony - Very nice floral with a freshness to it. Cafe Latte - A nice coffee, milk smell. I also smell mocha. Cool Water (for women) - don't know original, but beautiful unisex scent. Reminds me of (but not identical to) Issey Miyake. Black Cherry - Strong but not medicinal. I could handle this. People have asked me for this but I couldn't handle the one from CS. Still have to pour and test. As for all the talk regarding the fact that these are close-outs - Dan told me upfront that these are closeouts and how he goes about getting the good deals that he gets. Each person has to decide for themselves. In the type of business that I have (no large accounts, hotels, etc), I have no problem with a scent that comes and goes. In fact, many of my customers often say, "What's new?," when they see me. They are up for trying new things. If they throw and are as pleasant in a candle as they are oob, it will be money very, very well spent. Worst case scenario, they don't throw and become oils better suited for tarts, still not a bad deal at 31 cents/oz (delivered). Of course, I will post results when poured/burned. Eve

  12. Well, I couldn't resist. I just ordered 10 one lb bottles for $50 shipped (shipping was $13.19). I tried Christmas Cranberries Northwood Balsam Roasted Chestnuts Cafe Latte Victorian Vanilla Powdered Sugar Raspberry Apple Blossom Peony Honeysuckle Jasmine Cool Water for Women I'll post reviews when I can Eve
  13. Did first two fall shows this weekend. Both down appx 25% from last year. Eve
  14. This year I went with Flickers (Now Elements B& Granny's Pumpkin Cookies. Last year I did CS Pumpkin Souffle. They both throw extremely wll. I think the GPC smell a little bit sweeter, which I prefer. Today is my first fall craft show....I'll see how it goes. I'm in Long Island, pumpkin is never my top seller. People here go much more for CS Cran Marmalade, or Apple Cobbler. Eve
  15. When I compared last year Jan-Aug to this year Jan -Aug, I was down appx 10%. Craft shows were down, by 30% but people callled and came to my house to buy (I guess that I'm developing a following?). I had a few nice home parties. People bought less this year than last year. Avg $ per person at last year's parties was $40 per person, this year about $30 per person. I feel somewhat upbeat about the coming months. This is candle season. Time will tell. Good Luck to everyone. Eve
  16. The insurance is the Indy Beauty Network, which I learned about thru craftserver. hth, Eve
  17. I'm in New York. What I found I needed was: Business License (in person, local gov't, $25) Fed Tax ID (online, free) NYS Sales Tax ID (online, certificate arrives by mail, appx 2 weeks, free) Insurance (online, $500, instant coverage) I believe that I acuired the above in the order listed. If I recall correctly, I needed each previous item, to apply for each following item. hth, Eve
  18. I didn't like it the first time I tried it. All I can say, is that it grows on you. I call it Moon Lake. Eve
  19. I got the Jap Pear Ginseng - oob and ct are nice and strong and similar to FOH. The D&G Light Blue is a pretty good dup but I'm not sure it's identical - I've only smelled it on a friend and I liked it better on my friend than than this one oob (could be her body chem?). I haven't burned them yet, but will post results when I do. I got 20 samples during the sale, poured them, but have not burned yet. Eve
  20. I thought that ICS Apple Brown Betty reminded me of a caramel apple (although description doesn't say so). I don't have it in front of me, so I can't be 100% sure. Maybe someone can chime in. Eve
  21. I recently poured (but haven't tested) both the Flicker's Banana Walnut Cake and the AH Ban Walnut Cake. I think they smell identical in terms of cold throw (which is awesome in both). I will post results after burning, in terms of throw. Eve
  22. I got about 20. Six from the Value Line (Ocean, Pom Pear, Pom Ginger, Berry Vibe, Medi Fig, Gingerbread Apple Sauce) A couple of new ones - Jap Pear & Gingseng, Apple Pumpk Struedel, Red Currant and Thyme, D & G Light Blue, Fresh Baby. And some of the others that I've never tried - Cuc Melon (SNC) Da Lime in De Coconut Banana Walnut Cake (FES) Falling Leaves (FES) Forbidden Fruit (LW) Island Cocktail Pina Colada Sweet Pea Type I'm sniffing, than putting away for awhile. I made up 40 testers a few months back and I haven't burned them yet. I'll Get There, Eve
  23. The BNL version at bittercreek north, imo. I've tried a few and this was the best. eve
