  1. I guess my thought is the company is starting to run it's course and they are doing what they can to try to promote their products (and picking the wrong path to do so!) The consultant is full of it ... and that's the problem with reps who don't understand anything other than what they're told or dream up.
  2. What's your thought on hang tags? Because I'm thinking they might be the better choice than trying to craft your own from say a clear sheet of labels. I would probably label the lid though.
  3. I don't think it's your wax. You can always call Morris and ask. They know their stuff there and will try to work with you to reach a solution. My thought is like what several have said to you about the heavy oils that have vanilla in them. IMO on them, why not try melting the wax and then adding the oils to your wax at a reasonable temperature ..., maybe even at 180-185. Give these type of oils a chance to bind with the wax. The heavier oils you should be able to cut back on your percentage as is. It takes more to time to mix heavier FOs into paraffin. It is possible that you could try warming the fragrance before putting it in the wax. I have had certain oils from other suppliers that sludge on the bottom in my paraffin. Vybar helped some. Vybar helps to bind fragrance to the wax, but even if you got some to try, I'd ask Morris what to use if you continue to blend a pillar/votive wax with a container wax. There are two types of vybars. One is made for the harder waxes such as a pillar/votive blend and the other is for softer waxes ... i.e. container. Then again, maybe I'm not remembering right, but I thought you were using 4784 with 4786? As for the solvents in fragrance oil ... I don't think anyone knows exactly what's in there. DPG though cuts fragrances and I do trust Carol K's opinions. If she says they aren't cut, I would believe her. Vanillas can be difficult to incorporate into wax. Another alternative (and a possible PITA) if you do not want to change your method to accommodate heavier fragrances is use half and add the wax, get it to blend/bind and then add the other half once it is. The temperature of the wax can make a difference when adding vanillas, at least in what I have used or tried to get FOs to marry with the wax. Too much and you won't get it to combine unless you can use some vybar and more wax. If you try an alternate method though I would be interested to read what happens. I don't blend the two together, but if I'm not mistaken, I thought 4786 had difficulty with throw on some fragrances too. Just seemed I remember that from a few years ago.
  4. LOL! It's why I stay away from sites until I start needing something. Doesn't help. Doesn't work in the long run, but every now and then I might save some money.
  5. Is it their concentrated blend (which I think they say you can use less for it), because I'd say to up the amount of FO and see what it does.
  6. You might want to give more information to get some help. What wick have you tried, size of jar you're burning in, what other sizes of wick have you tried, someone mentioned the FO supplier. How much FO to pp of wax etc.
  7. Ohhh we're gonna get to freebird again whoooo hoooo!
  8. Pretty much the same here. Gotta figure you want to keep the person on your site for a better chance of buying. If they have to hunt and go back and forth through things, usually they tend to go elsewhere. On our pages we have a brief description of the scents to go with the item, whatever it may be ... unless it's obvious what the scent is from the name, but I think even then I put something there.
  9. Even free ones, I still think it is polite to ask. I can't imagine what you ran into and don't wanna Just in working for a newspaper, we go out and ask for permission for every image that does not belong to us, whether free or not (except for the company that we do pay a service fee to for graphics). It protects us when we publish. It also makes us more respectible to others in our line of work. It's better to be covered with some form of written permission from the originator.
  10. Could just be that I abused them too much lol. It's highly likely. I loved being able to see what I was doing. Could also be that those were some of the first molds I started with and maybe Hobby Lobby got the bad ones. Hard to say. I just never got more than 4 uses out of whatever I got. At that time I figured four uses for a mold was a good thing. What did I know, I was starting out and spending my husband's money at the time replenishing them. It wasn't till years later that it dawned on me that the FO was eating them. I'm not against polycarb molds. If every mold could be a poly and take the abuse I give my regular 3x3 molds, I'd be stocked to the gills in polys. But that isn't the case for me. I use a lot of utensils to manipulate my wax. It would be nice to see what I'm getting at the time I'm doing it, but I'm willing to sacrifice one for the other.
  11. You might look at coloring with clays too. Irena, I have no trouble using oils with short shelf life with grapeseed always in my soaps (main recipe anyway) and I have not had it turn my soap bad. Emu, though, is not bad in soap, but it is quite costly and I wouldn't recommend just using it at 5% either. It would have to be at a larger portion unfortunately. I do use it from time to time in bars and the only grip I have is that it's too expensive.
  12. They look like fun. Two of the first three though have seam lines, but the others appear not to. I would suggest trying to trim those lines down. Odd that the light green one had seam lines though, but I have only seen that mold in a polycarbonate. I stopped looking for molds after I exceeded my mold limit and don't even use them. I keep swearing I'm going to use them at some point, which must be why I get to keep them.
  13. I used Walnut Hill and mine did. Every single one of them (when the candle was saturated with the right amount of FO) did. Now I really didn't have problems with C&S until I could not stop the leaking from the wick so I gave up on the mold. I do have some polycarbs from a European company that I am dying to use. I plan to do so w/o the fragrance as I don't think I can ever those molds again.
  14. If it isn't your photo then you need to pay someone (the owner of it or stock company that has it) the fee that they want so you can use it. That is the proper way to do it. Or if it is an individual, then ask them for permission to use his/her photo.
  15. Take a look at letsmakecandles.com too. You're looking for polycarbonate molds, but I will tell you that years ago, fragrances ate those type of molds, making them harder to get the candle to release. Candles and supplies used to carry them too. I don't know if they still do, but you can look.
  16. Oh they've complained. They just don't hear it lol
  17. It doesn't float my boat, but I'm not much of a fan of those kind of scents either ... and people say Patchouli stinks. They haven't whiffed fireside from the bottle. The intensity and nastiness lessens some once in wax. Maybe consider it as something to cut back on the % used.
  18. Maybe even consider putting some aloe in place of the water.
  19. Might I suggest ... Finding sesame seed oil and Emu or Ostrich oils. Both ... (smack me now) have supposed healing properties soothing to the skin as well. Whatever you do, it has to be soothing to the skin, so the bubbly foamy stuff (cleansing) needs to be reduced. Therefore, I think you're going to be looking at superfatting too.
  20. That sounds like a welcome back to the forum than Lady Jo
  21. You know I never ran into one, but if you had the almond pastries from Peak and someone else's pumpkin, maybe add a bit of Creamy Praline Pecan (think that's it) you might come out with something different but nice anyway! Or get you some butternut pumpkin and a crust FO you trust and blend the two.
  22. Good luck! In our state I don't think there are many vanilla fans lol!
