  1. Um just because of flashpoints and things happen, I would never warm my oils in the oven or on the stove. I just go a little higher than warm, because 1) I lack patience and 2) I always had to reheat it again anyway. No, you can't tell. Well you can if you put it in your wax and mix it and there's a sludge or oil outline on the bottom of your pot. Rapture is a heavy, sultry fragrance to me and I love it ... it floated forever while I slowly added vybar and stirred and stirred and kept repeating the process. You don't want the sludge in your wax or the oil slick. It never really solidifies. It just umm makes things ultra messy, especially when using a nice rich red. This is why I do not color until after I know the fragrance will bind. The other FO was a white tea and ginger from someone who said, "we never had issues before so you are doing something wrong." I know the FO came from someone I absolutely refuse to order from again, but I have about 6 of those companies and three of them are OOB. And then there was an ultra heavy oil that just flat did not mix into the wax at all and sat on the bottom of the pot and burned, forcing me to clean and scrub the brown sticky stuff forever just so I could use my pot again. That person, too, is OOB. And it was a terribly rich and lovely FO that I really wanted it to work. I hated losing the wax I had for that, but really I had no choice. Well I did have a choice and I chose to pitch it lol.
  2. Color is great fun to me, so by all means Darrell go out and play with it. It's like getting to color outside the lines of a crayon book or on mom's clean white walls Seriously, pick what colors interest you, especially if you don't want the headache of making other colors from the basics.
  3. I go hot water lol. I never had success with warm (go figure) and I toss vybar in there too. I had a horrid time getting someone's Rapture to bind in my wax ... using less did help. Those that just wouldn't bind, I pretty much chucked though too. I can't remember what they were now though.
  4. everyone will likely tell you to get the basics and from those you can mix other colors. So start with red, blue and yellow. I do really like the melon green color though lol. I would add black to your choices. I have not tried much of their colors as far as liquids go. I have used their blocks and enjoy them when I use blocks. I can say that, but liquids is a great and messy way to go lol. I really don't think you'll be disappointed in their colors. As for Amish Harvest being pinkish ... ummmm I think fall colors since it is a warm and spicy scent (you know, yellows, orange, brown, even a red) just not pink. Maybe the pink for sweet pea.
  5. Talking paraffin, but that would be in a 4 lb batch too. Some company's brand that I used once required upwards of 50 some drops. I don't use the dye from them any more. In fact, I don't even imagine they are still around. Even then though, the wick was not suffocated.
  6. I would love to have something here based on company and fragrance and use in candles only that is similar to the one for soap etc. I don't think we have the ability for it to happen though just size wise and someone posting it smells great is a bad review imo.
  7. I've used up to 36 drops to get a dark black and have had no trouble. Haven't bothered to experiment with more.
  8. and I forgot soap and B&B lol. That's a lot to divvy up, but you can see where it goes and if others will follow what requirements are given. We can go from there. See what gets generated. I'd probably start another thread though since I sorta took this OT I think.
  9. Makes complete sense. My hangup is that it will be different for everyone and will it change in application .. ie soy paraffin, parasoy, palm etc. Most may not, but I don't habitually make in all applications so I really do not know.
  10. I would go back to them and point that out and ask them about it. Personally, they should not be doing something like that. It may be based on a certain level of use, but they still need to be informative and not conflicting. Do you have another EO place that you trust? If so, pose the question to them too.
  11. It's serious stuff and not something that suppliers post to try to protect themselves. You need to understand the EO(s) you are using and in what format you use them. Some of cautions and reputable suppliers list those cautions as well as some more insight into the EO. We do not have a list on here. I do not believe that one could be kept as an all-encompassing safe thing. People react to different things. Your best bet is to know what you are using as well as you can educate yourself on it.
  12. Poor Steve! It was great seeing both of you again this year!! Abbie did a great job. I loved all the demos from start to finish even when I wasn't able to sit still or had to make an emergency trip.
  13. I had a fabulous time! I think this one was the best ever out of any of the conferences I have been to and looking forward to coming back next year!!!
  14. I'll see how your post goes and go from there. The idea is a good one, but just because a company carries xyz type fragrance doesn't always mean it's remotely close. KWIM?
  15. Even in paraffin, the cilantro isn't there. To me, the cilantro just mutes some of the juicy sweetness of the pineapple.
  16. I like those, particularly the first and last ones. Very interesting tilts on those.
  17. These aren't with the balloons though. The spheres are perfectly round. Balloons tend to distort some as I understand it.
  18. I need a 5" ball and a 4" ball for Corey to make me a mold that I want before I tackle the spheres.
  19. We'll see you sometime mid afternoon early evening if I can get him out of bed and on the road!
  20. THe lilac I use always goes from one color of oil to a reddish color. It affects only how I want to color my candles.
  21. Autumn sage was pretty good too. The wreath fragrances are great also.
