  1. http://www.fillmorecontainer.com/ not sure how many you're looking to purchase, but they carry them
  2. Man, you guys are OUT-OF -CONTROL I missed Freebird UGHHH!! I dragged my butt up to the room and pretty much collapsed, then there was pizza and I was out again. it was those damned flip flops that did it-my legs were killing me ! My gathering experience was different this year because I didn't get to do as much as usual and I had the kiddies in tow. I enjoyed the lounge on Friday and finally getting to hear Kim & Tabitha sing-you go girls I am now inspired to make some lotion-thanks Kim I may also use my newly aquired hippie scents to make rustic pillars . Sunday we hit Tanger outlet then we headed up to the Burgh for Ikea and shopping @ Sephora -I got some freebies and my Kat Von D eye shadow. I'm a happy girl now !
  3. Yeah It's almost time ! Sorry I've been silent sam this year-too many irons in the fire I'm looking forward to next weekend and all the goings on. I promised Abbie that I will do whatever she wants /needs me to do to make up for my absence. So that means I will be trapped in my hotel room putting together last minute stuff It's all good though :smiley2: Kim I wished I could help ya out on the wax, but I've got nobody close to me anymore that even carries it. What about the NG pre-order ?
  4. I have learned that there many ways you can be creative and earn a good income from this business as long as you are willing and motivated to do so. I've learned that there are 2 kinds of people in business, those who truly want to help you succeed and prove to be great mentors, and those who are so consumed with jealousy they cannot function properly. I've also learned that some things don't last forever and you should always cover your *$$ just in case -(economy) Most important of all, never ever give up on yourself :smiley2: ** yes those C Cards do have their limits
  5. Agreed- the shift in the economy has certainly changed things for alot of us. When I first started 13 years ago, I bent over backwards to please people. For some insane reason I thought this would be benificial to my business-not so much I ended up getting ripped by so-called customers that wanted to bend the rules of wholesale minimums. I have changed things quite a bit over the years as far as minimums are concerned. I also pick and choose which teritorries I sell within and make sure I don't have stores too close to each other. Luckily, my current wholesale customers know how to place an order. I've had some in the past that were a complete nightmare Since I make several differnt products, they usually pick 6 fragrances and order in groups of 3 eg: room sprays,8 oz jars,16 oz jars, tarts. One thing I'm doing is cutting my scent list WAAAYY back, it's just insane for me to have all those fragrances. Not to mention, that helps me keep my costs down. I have only a couple consignments, friends of mine whom I've known for several years that have awesome shops. I had some bad experiences with consignment back in my early days that involved the police- very ugly But I wouldn't poo poo that option, just be very careful . As of now,I am thinking outside of the box on some new sales and marketing ideas. I've been on so many business sites ,and have taken so many notes it's as though I'm in school again . best of luck to you :smiley2:
  6. I'm a member of my state's arts and crafts guild and they offer insurance for their members through Benchmark. I would check into that if I were you , sometimes you can get a discount membership rate.
  7. I will be @ the outlet mall-funny I never thought of myself as a mall chick If there's a Buckle or Charlotte Russe store,I'm in big trouble I don't know about those slots, I like my money to stay with me a little while. I am re-grouping my contacts and working on my little bits for now. I will be discussing "green "issues and ways of thinking outside of the box this year-since we all need to be a little thrifty nowadays. Lyschel, I'm so sorry you are going to miss this one, I will send you notes :smiley2:
  8. Thanks Kimberly ! Your demo was awesome, I think you've inspired alot of folks to make scrubs & polishes , me being one of them .I'm thinking about doing the Margarita scent I was happy with the way things came together, considering all of us live in different states, it was great I couldn't have done this alone, and I wanted to let everyone know that Abbie kicked major ta-ta on all the work she put into this event. Kim did a great job with the swap & contests, I still can't believe I won a prize-I never win anything It was nice to see Janet again, she's a riot ! I always love her demos. My daughter loved the soaps we carved for Bonnie's demo. Tina & Maryanne were great,I loved the distilling demo-so did everyone in the hotel !Lyschel has inspired me to try the rustic pillars. She is a sweetie and I'm glad we got to meet the night before. I was glad to get some good smellin' stuff From Connie & Mike (Backwoods), they've got some great stuff. I also liked the business tips that Bambi shared with us. I may have her plan our next vacation. I hope everyone had a great time as well, and was motivated to grow their businesses. I got home last night and had a message on my machine from one of my wholesale customers , saying she was ready to place her Fall order. I guess this means busy season has begun.
  9. we'll be leaving in the AM, unless hubby wants to leave sooner ! yep, it's been that kinda week, we need to get outta here
  10. I did one of these this past April through our chamber of commerce. I took business cards and promotional items (brochures ,ect..) I made little sachet envelopes with my business info stamped on them. We were allowed to sell and I ended up doing pretty good for what little I brought I made quite a few new customers, not to mention the networking with other businesses. I used it to promote my wholesale & fundraising programs. I plan to do at least one every year ,you can write off on your taxes too as an advertising expense. You never know what doors it could open for you :smiley2:
  11. That's the problem with those buckets, unless you can find seamless, they are more worry than they are worth. If all else fails, you can use terra cotta pots, the ones with no drainage hole. make sure they've been fired though. you can do this by flicking with your finger, if it rings you're good to go, if it thuds don't use. I was told by someone who makes pottery to check it that way :smiley2:
  12. I actually offered to do this for the vendor sponsoring my demo, but unfortunately, they currently do not have t-shirts or anything like that.
  13. Hey now , that wings place sounds pretty good :smiley2: I'm not a karoke girl either- I don't want people running for the door when I sing We usually have the kids with us when we do make it to PA, but not this time:wink2: The way hubby's talking , we may be there a few days !
  14. any fees that I inccur for the business gets written off. I ,unfortunately, didn't know that a few years ago :undecided You better believe I won't miss a thing from now on !
  15. Just a reminder, we are now in the home-stretch of getting the finishing touches together for our gathering. Many more suppliers have been added over the past few days. The goodies and door prizes are arriving ,and we cannot wait until the event If you would like to join us, please take the time to visit our site www.lightsandlather.org we will be extending our registration for a few more days,so come join us for a day of learning , networking and fun ! We have been working very hard to offer something for everyone.Don't forget to join our yahoo group to stay updated.

  20. I do only a handful of wedding related stuff, votives & pillars it's through a friend who has a floral business. I just don't care for the custom color orders-it drives me crazy when they freak out if the color varies slightly
  21. I've only used one that you've listed, and I'm pouring with paraffin & beeswax Pumpkin Apple Butter-was very good & strong and it did smell like pumpkin apple butter ! I also got Apple cinnamon struesel ,it's more spicy bakery Apple dumpling-I Love this one,it's strong & spicy I just hope it stays that way in wax I also got spice of the forest, not sure if it's new :undecided it's ok,but it wasn't what I expected. I'll have to figure out what to do with it .
  22. I've ordered from AH only a couple of times, the Welcome Home was very good,it's an apple scent and I used it for some tarts.I also got Celtic Moon and Amish Quilt both were very good . They are very warm/baked type fragrances. I order quite a bit from JS,but not any of the ones you've mentioned. My personal faves are: Coffee cake and spice,Caramel Cinnamon Latte (YUMM),warm vanilla sugar, gingersnaps. HTH
