  1. OOH I love the sound of those blends ! Right up my alley I have NG Boston Tea Party, it's a sweet tea w/ lemon, so that might work ! Normally I love cranberry, but this one...not so much It will definitely be a mixer. I think it was called "Cranberry Crush " ? I can't imagine anyone wanting a Robitussin scent wafting through their home 😄 There was about one pound of "Citrus Blast " that reminded me of baby asprin. Luckily, I blended with a creamsicle and a bit of vanilla & sold all of those last season.
  2. Back when I was making dried florals and herbal products, I wanted to add some candles to my line. At the time (early 90's) I only made pillars and dipped beeswax tapers, something my aunt taught me when I was little. After much trial and error on different styles & techniques, I settled on a grungy primitive look to complement my floral decor and my passion for Early Americana. A friend of mine who dabbled in candlemaking, sold me all of her supplies for container candles. After much experimenting, testing, etc. I began selling them at the indoor market that I was in way back when. Later, I began taking them to shops for potential consignment or wholesale deals. I also started doing local craft shows and worked my way up to the larger festivals. I've done a few cash and carry wholesale shows- those were fun but very hectic shows ! I've never experienced a buying frenzy until I did a trade show 😮 Now, 23 years later... I have several wholesale accounts locally, as well as fundraisers, 4 large Fall festivals and 2 Christmas shows that I do annually. I'm also in 5 primitive antiques shops that I stock year round, each one hosts open house events twice a year. I've sold on Ebay a few times, also tried Etsy for a hot minute, but decided a website shop just wasn't for me. I prefer interaction with my customers and the thought of having a website on top of everything else I do scares me a bit 😱 I'm totally content with where I've taken my business since those messy kitchen candlemaking days , my clients and customers are happy and I still love what I do 😊 HTH
  3. About a year ago, I acquired some fragrance oils from a local candle company (maker) that sold her business. Out of several pounds of oils that were great, I'm a bit stumped as to what I should do with these two scents ? Peach Preserves is a bit syrupy to my nose, and the cranberry reminds me of Robitussin 😖 I hate to throw anything away, because they're still good oils. I'm just not sure what the heck I want to do with them ?! TIA
  4. Right there with you ! After having my cc # hacked more than once over the years, I prefer using Paypal . Thankfully, most of the suppliers I order from accept it.
  5. My wax order from EAP is already on it's way, just placed my FB order, and now on my way over to WSP for a "few" things Good thing I'm doing the flea markets over the summer... selling my antiques & farmhouse wares...AKA- cashing in my Hillbilly 401K
  6. Bittercreek has one called Horse... trust me, it smells EXACTLY like a stable & "Country Air" , but not poopy. I ordered last year on a whim, and they sold like crazy ! Go figure ? The H/C throw is great in parasoy . I'm thinking about adding a little mac apple for the next batch, maybe mix 50/50 with Hayride to tone it down a bit. Try a sample and see what you think
  7. Florals , cherries and peppermint fragrances...Not a fan at all, but the customers are. I usually pour them last, because they give me a headache and run me out of the house 🤢
  8. At my show last weekend, the soap lady next to me had a beautiful Cedar & Amber scent from Brambleberry. I'm excited to test this in my wax ! It's exactly what I've been looking for for one of my accounts, you might want to add it to your list
  9. The Apple Cider Donut is really good ! Had great results in para-soy container wax Thanks for the info, esp. the Smoked Ginger ,I'll just skip that one
  10. Coffee & Doughnuts sounds amazing 😋 I'll have to take a peek and put an order in soon. I got Whiskey Bread Pudding from them last year that was pretty yummy ! I'm thinking that it may have been a sale fragrance, I can't remember ?
  11. I just started ordering from FC this past year, so far I've been very pleased with everything ... Autumn & Apple Orchard , Bourbon Soaked Raisins and Pumpkin Chai are my favorites ! Others I liked are: Lemongrass Lemon Verbena Hickory BBQ-perfect smokiness for mixing Old World Christmas-this would be great year round, reminds me of fresh cider and mulling spices Twisted Cinnamon-really good bakery , iced danish scent Falling Leaves-the notes in this are deep ,kinda sexy ...might be good with a hint of smoke for a burning leaves smell Apple Ginger Crust -it's good, but reminded me of fruity cereal Cotton Amber- this one is very nice , not a typical laundry scent HTH
  12. I just read the email today (edited)...not sure if I want to add any florals. Has anyone tried their whiskey scents ? They're always out when I place an order
  13. I'm in the same boat Trappeur, fall and winter year round...it's crazy ! I do pour some floral and fruit scents, but not nearly as much as the fall scents...I'm ok with that, because I prefer those warm spicy scents anyway I'm buying & testing new scents / combos all the time, I'm a scent-junkie and cannot control myself 😊 I have to stay a season ahead ,fall is my busiest time and it gets absolutely nuts around here ! Wholesale orders start in July, open houses and festivals Aug.- Nov. then , when I think I can finally catch my breath...here comes Santa Claus 🎅 and the mayhem continues until January.
  14. If you're looking for a rich, buttery maple, Maple Butter from Candlewic is wonderful ! It's been a customer favorite for several years . I also use Apples & Oak from NG, it reminds me of fresh picked apples in an oak barrel, it's very nice. Vermont Honey Apple from Aztec is fantastic ! The H/C throw on each of these scents have been great. I'm using a para-soy blend .
  15. What's your name? Cheryl How old are you? a proud Gen X'er Where do you live? North East Ohio How long have you been making candles/soap/whatever? Chandler-playing with all things wax for most of my life, 22 years for profit How did you get started making candles/soap/whatever? My aunt taught me the basics when I was a kid Are you married? Any kids? yes, we have two girls that are all grown up now If candle/Soap making isn't your primary job, what do you do? it's my full-time job Anything else we should know? it's been many moons since I've been on this forum, glad to be back !
  16. here's mine http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#!/pages/Erinn-Laine-Primitives/105586386130756?ref=ts I also have a group page. I actually created the group page prior to the fan page and didn't want to cancel it, I felt somewhat guilty asking folks to re-join It's been great for the shops that I consign with, not only am I profiting but they are as well I don't have alot of members, but it's a start !
  17. Not holding out either..I'm just glad that I got everything worked out and can make it there How shameful would that be if co-chair girl was a no-show ? Abbie would never speak with me again
  18. same here, straight from the bottle. I use a pump for 25# containers and it can be a bit messy. I keep a shot glass below the spout to catch the drips
  19. I used to purchase all of my jars & lids from them, I live an hour away so it was no big deal to run up there and pick up. However, this last time I placed an order I almost had a stroke !! I only ordered 20 cases of 8 oz. jelly jars & the same amount in lids, something I have orderd time and time again at a reasonable cost...well not this time . with all the crazy price increases and shipping rolled into the price, my order was off the hook ! well I obviously didn't need the shipping option, so I'm thinking the cost will come down to normal..WRONG Now those same jars that I paid around $5.00 a case for are now $9.00, the lids that were $2.95 per dozen, now are almost $6.00. After I spoke with them and had the shipping costs put back onto my debit card , I still paid $56.00 more for this order compared to my previous order. I hate having to switch any of my suppliers, but they leave me no choice. Guess I'll be getting my jars at Big Lots again....
  20. I have that same problem with Ky's Patti-Cakes oil, I just sit my bottle of f.o in a bowl of warm water and that melts the crystals that way you don't have to strain it
  21. unfortunately, I will be dealing with this problem next weekend as I have done for the past 10 years. I use the brown craft labels and the ink likes to feather and they get wrinkles I have been covering my stuff really good with sheets and that seems to help alot. I'm under a big tent with other crafters and that darned thing is always drippy in the morning when I get there to open my space. I usually take extra towels and strategically uncover my stuff until the sun sucks up all the morning dew. That's the best I can do, and my customers don't care about the label ,just what's in the jar
  22. well, considering I lost a few of my biggest long-time clients due to store closings, things were very bleak at the beginning of the year. But it only pushed me to work harder and now I have new clients and several fundraisers and I can barely keep up ! so far my shows have been good, but my biggest show is next weekend and that's the one I usually gage my customers spending on. Last year, gas was almost $4.00 a gallon when I did that show and it was the best year out of 9 I ever had down there ! I know my shop sales are way up this year, people are really supportive of handmade and buying local and I'm very happy about that.
  23. I have the Autumn Wreath and I love it ! It smells like fall in a bottle, definately an apple cider and some spice but not too spicy. it's just a fresh fall scent if that makes any sense I use in CBL-125 container wax and straight parrifin with great hot & cold throw. I haven't ordered the cornbread muffins but I'm intrigued. I have one from Steve's and one from KY-they're good but I think I'll mix them with pumpkin .
  24. I ordered once, and of course the cart was a mess so I called. OMGosh !!! he was fast talking me into buying pallets of stuff that I don't even use, trying to get me apply for a line of credit ect.. Gorilla marketing doesn't work in this business buddy Then he calls to tell me that my name was pulled for a gift cert. worth $70.00, do you think I can use it ? NOT The shipping was so ridiculous that I just wiped everything out and said "screw it ". The order that I did recieve was a mess, only a couple good oils the rest were -BLECCHHH !! I really don't like that pre-colored stuff, I'll choose my own thank you very much . I would not reccommend them for the simple fact is there's no consistency and it's just too risky. Besides, I don't like anyone to call and try to hustle me over the phone to place an order I think Mr. Missy should stick to selling used cars
  25. Wow - these are so fabulous !! You must share this in PA next year, there could possibly be a new hat in it for you
