What is Barbershop 1920s like? A lot of people seem to really like it and yet it has not really had an appeal to me when I go listing everything I wish I could get from there. I love the colors you've got going.

I would have told you Tennessee, but they're out of stock. If you get Aztec, I'd be curious on your thoughts. I've just started testing out Aztec in the past year or so and it's been slow going. That doesn't mean the scents weren't living up to expectation. It means that what we did do and eventually offered took off, but they weren't dupes.

We don't see a rash of them in the Kansas/Missouri/Nebraska areas. I mean they are there, but not entirely. They leave shows before we do. However, if you want to get back into shows you might have to sign up for them earlier than you think. We have several shows though that don't take the direct sales people ... so we like the juried process more than the others. Still when there are direct sales people where we go, there's often 1-3 selling the same thing and they drown each other out. If candles are all that you offer, yeah they might think of you as another Scentsy or Yank, but there are ways around that too ... just add something else to your line like soap type of thing. We started out as candles only but have had to branch out to other things to have more draw to our booth and to get through that really tough period that started in 2008 and hasn't improved all that much since.

I appreciate the suggestions. Currently I have an amber and leather brewing together, another with more amber than leather, another with some rose in it, another with jasmine in it and another with salty sailor in it. Not sure what I'll think of them in the morning. I'd like the idea of Oakmoss and Amber if we didn't carry something like that already or the ginger lime, which is holed up in bath bombs as Tahiti Temptation. I could take a look at the O&A and see about adding to it though it's a good enough scent on its own.

I've got a friend whose family recently lost one of their dogs and as we all know, pets are like children to a degree. However this case appears it could involve animal cruelty in that its spine was broken by someone possibly throwing a brick at it. I'm not writing to get sympathy for the family. I'm determined, though, to help the family raise some money to be able to afford another dog when they are ready to try to do so. Right now their grief is still great. The dog's name was Rebel and I got to thinking what a great name for a scent, so what this post really is about is creating a scent that could easily fall into the category of being a rebel. A bit of the history in that the dog was a papillon bread -- white and a beautiful brown. It barked up a storm and tried to sound fierce or his size. So I'm looking to construct the candle from the color of regular wax with some browns. Matching it could be as hard as creating a scent though. Does anyone have suggestions for 1) a scent that already exists; or 2) fragrances to put together that would conjure up good memories and not smell horrid, but of course smell like an attractive man perhaps and not necessarily like a dog? Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I certainly understand! So I hope things have changed. It's convenient for us to get from this place and perhaps I need to be making the trip the next time. I'm sorry ... my partner is a former farmer who probably thinks today's nice wave of 100 degree humidity is air conditioning. So as not to confuse you, this is Scented. Not trying to be confusing.

Just my opinion --- Drakkar ... you would waste your money. I feel like everyone has watered down this fragrance. The last good one of this was from a company that went out of business years ago. A lot of suppliers like to say that Drakkar and midsummer's night are interchangeable and I disagree. Personally, from CS, this is a fragrance I wouldn't buy from them. It was just ... well ... off/not close/name it second-chance thrift shop or something. I know, that may sound a little harsh. I happen to love a man who can wear this cologne ... I don't mind letting my nose stalk someone who can pull off the scent. Love Spell ... Tennessee Candle Supply has the least harshest of the fragrance IMO. Moon Lake Musk ... I don't have this one. I have one version and that's for soap or perfumes that I use it, so I can't answer. The Very Sexys ... I had a lot of success using the AH/RE versions so I didn't stray from them to tell you more. As for Cool Water ... someday I hope to have a chance to smell it. I'm wondering if it is something that would pair well with leather to make a Good Looking Cowboy dupe ... but I doubt it. Unfortunately Day-Star stopped carrying Good Looking Cowboy. Just to add ... I smelled an Angel FO once and gagged so I definitely can't help out on that one. The Axe fragrances, I can't do you there either. Wish I could, but I'm hunting on that one trying to compare to NG's versions.

A bit darker then well good luck experimenting with colors. Honestly that's half the fun or half the headache depending on your day lol! The hole looks like you had an air bubble under the wax and it revealed itself. Not very many waxes are single pours, so you might have to poke some relief holes around the wick and top off or at worst, use a heat gun and smooth out the tops so that little mini caverns get filled in.

I never got around to this one. Out of the bottle though I remember it to be very nectar-y (since that isn't a word lol), but I cannot remember much else about it. Would you elaborate? Unfortunately our bottle didn't survive to be able to do anything with it except smell it once or twice many years ago.

Wow do take advantage of the peach stuff if you get the opportunity. What a great transitional scent into fall as well. If you find a good guava, maybe give that a shot also. Melons are another variety of opportunity (cantaloupe, honey dew along with the watermelon mentioned earlier ... and cherries are still hanging on in my neck of the woods.) As for other summer stuff, most of the florals, maybe go with some heady ones, or try out beach daisies, wildflower, or go out on a limb and do some sage. I'm actually thinking maybe a little combo of sage and jasmine might be nice. Thinking I may have to try that out and see. The potential is there for a jasmine and gardenia mix also. Summer could be beachy and it could also be desert or just hot and dry ... and then there are the great mid-summer storms. Fair season is kicking up around here so there would be an opportunity for cotton candy and caramel/candy apple as well as other fair favorites ... or think about the flavors of sno cones.

I'm intrigued on the scent. I'm hunting around to see what fall fragrances are in the offerings so far and this blend sounds like something I wish I could whiff. Color is not what you expected? Were you seeking darker or lighter or something totally different?

If I'm not mistaken the 464 is pretty versatile and should be fine for you while you get your feet wet so to speak. I, though, will have to back out of helping you much more, because I'm not versed very well on soy. There are quite a few on this board though who are and you might look in other parts of the forum to get more info on your waxes. Candle Science knows its stuff so also don't be shy about contacting them. You're getting quality FO there as well as wicks, wax and whatever else you might buy
