  1. No, I haven't used them before. I haven't actually made any clamshells yet. I have some from the classies that I'll use eventually. After that I plan to order from Maple Street. I've joined their facebook page, and they seem to have happy customers. I did a search for "clamshells" on there for you, and here are some comments I found: "I am not sure if it is just me or not but Maple StreetClamshells seem to be thicker and of higher quality than the ones I have been getting from my other supplier. I will order from this company again." "I got a few tarts done yesterday! Love Maplestreet clam shells!" "Charlie, I think I have a small obsession with your products!! Everything pictured here is with your products except my logos. Got my shipment in friday and I'm already out of clamshells! Good thing I ordered more last night! (Sorry they aren't great photos)" "...Made a ton of clamshells a month ago with Charlie dye, wax, fo and containers and ordered mucho labels from Online labels - finally have margins straight (did I mention that for Christmas I got a nice new printer for labels?) and a quality print. Thank you Charlie Libengood and team for great products and service!" Hope this helps. I'm really not affiliated with the company, just want to help you get a good deal if possible.
  2. I hear that Maple Street Candle Company (www.maplestreetcandle.com) has the best price on clamshells, and they sell in bulk too. I think they have $8 flat rate shipping too. Oh, I see they are on sale now.
  3. Wow, starting a paypal conflict over such a short time frame--I just don't understand some people.
  4. Good to know. I would add that I've also heard caution against Himalayan Salt, that it is too scratchy. I made salt bars using just 25% of it, and would have to agree.
  5. Lovely looking soap there! I didn't realize you could do salt at 100% (of the oils). Thanks for sharing your recipe/process.
  6. Nice soaps! I like it how you contrasted the colors in several.
  7. Love the bracelets! Especially the 1st and 2nd ones. They're gorgeous. Well done!
  8. Some roses are orangey. It's interesting that the orange on top is lighter than the center orange. Were they different shades of pink to start with?
  9. Nice and bright! I like the yellow too.
  10. I did a search for these last year, and those babies aren't cheap. About the best deal I could find was here: http://www.onedreamdesign.com/shop/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=7_28 But it looks like there are more choices out there now. I didn't look extensively to see if prices are better than the above, but I think there's a lot more availability. Target even has them --for 3.99 (but apart from the base, those ones are plastic).
  11. You shoulda got me one while you were at it!
  12. Thanks, Chefmom. I guess I'll wait for a sale and give that one a go. Wish I was as good at sniffing out the good deals as TallTayl. Sometimes you just have to be at the right place at the right time. I bought a nice mold at the thrift store one time that doesn't seem to be available online anywhere.
  13. Okay, thanks. I'll keep looking. I did find a 3" one at WSP that looks promising.
  14. That was so sweet of you to look them up for me TallTayl. I guess I forgot to mention that I wanted the larger, approx. 3 inch diameter size. Those 4 cm ones are nice and look like they have straight sides, but all of the bigger ones, I can see that they are tapered. I just don't understand why they can't make the bigger size with perfectly straight sides too. The blue ones I mentioned that I bought look like they have straight sides, but the finished soaps tell a different story. Guess I'll just have to keep looking, and maybe sometime someone will come out with what I want.
  15. I bought some of those bright blue individual round molds from Bulk Apothecary (Brambleberry sells them too), but I'm unhappy with them because there is a slight taper of 2 or 3 millimeters. I want the top to be the same as the bottom because I can see that it isn't uniform and it detracts from the looks in my opinion. I could put the soap in a PVC mold to get a cylinder log, but I want to add things to the top of the soap while it is still wet. Does anybody know where I can get completely uniform round molds? I noticed that Candlescience just came out with some plastic beveled round molds, but that doesn't work because the top would end up being the bottom, and I don't want a beveled bottom. TIA Georgialee
  16. Gorgeous! I've been sitting here for 10 minutes trying to figure out how you did the swirls!
  17. Yeah, I liked it better with more showing in the "what's new" section too. However, I did finally discover the "Activity" tab up top. I assume it was always there but I only discovered it after the change to the new format. You can see all the recent posts there.
  18. For just glopping it in there, that looks great!
  19. Thanks so much, Candybee! That's some really beautiful soap, and you did so well presenting the method!
  20. Those are beautiful eggs!! Nice work. What method did you use to make the silicone molds? I have some things here I'd like to make molds out of, but there seem to be various ways of doing it, and I want to avoid the less than optimal ones. Do you coat the models with pure silicone, or mix silicone and water first, or...
