  1. I've tried JS Gingerbread cookies and it has the scent I want but just not strong at all. I think I'll try Karen's advice and blend some of NG's gingerbread and someone's bday cake or maybe a sugar cookie and get a stronger gingerbread cookie. Or the next time I order from TCS I'll try their gingersnap cookies!
  2. If you have a 15X24 living room and you can smell it several feet away or while walking down the hall to go into the living room, is that a strong throw or just medium? Maybe my friend is expecting too much or I'm not doing something right, which is a strong possibility LOL!
  3. I have a friend who tests some of my tarts to see how they are in strength etc. I gave her one scented in Peaks Amish Harvest and she said it smells good but isn't very strong. I have one melting right now and I can smell it in my living room. It's not the strongest I've smelled, but I can smell it. What is considered a strong throw? Is Amish Harvest not a real strong throwing FO or did I do something wrong maybe? I use all paraffin. Thanks!
  4. Same here Karen! I think that's a great idea. I had thought about mixing some of NG's gingerbread with some sugar cookie but bday cake sounds even better. NG's gingerbread is strong to me but I don' t get the bakery scent from it that I want along with the ginger smell. Thanks for the ideas!
  5. Thanks everyone! This gives me a starting place for sure!
  6. Is this from BCN? I looked on their website and didn't see perfect pumpkin. I'll go look again!
  7. With Christmas fast approaching, I've been wanting to start pouring some scents like gingerbread. I bought gingerbread cookies from JS and though it smells good, it's not very strong. I have gingerbread from NG and it's ok but doesn't have much cookie to it. Who has a good, strong gingerbread cookie scent? Thanks!
  8. I love buttercream sugar cookie! One of my favorites. I didn't like Vanilla, the King. I have put oatmeal cookie with icing in wax and it was just so so for me. I love Serendipity! I love Hansel and Gretels house. I have Buttercream maple frosting but haven't put it in wax and also, Candy corns/buttercrea, cake batter fudge, and sugar cookie bomb. They smell good out of the bottle though. I've put strawberry white cake in wax and liked it pretty good. HTH
  9. Glad I could help you out there Ravens! LOL! I love AH/RE pineapple and brown sugar! I don't think you'll be disappointed. Haven't tried cotton candy from there or NG. The only cotton candy I have is from JS and I'm not sure if it's a good one or not since I haven't smelled anyone else's.
  10. Moneypenny, Fragrance Buddy has some good oils but like every other supplier, they have some that aren't so good. I do like the fact they offer free shipping with a $50 order. Their Mulberry is the best I've tried. It smells like Back Woods Mulberry if you've ever smelled theirs. I like HCS's banana nut bread better than anyone else's that I've smelled. It has more of a nutty bread smell to me. It reminds me of RE's banana walnut cake. Not the banana taffy smell that some have.
  11. Ravens, you've given me some new ones to try! I was wondering about candied yams from LS. Does it smell similar to sweet potatoes and brown sugar from Aztec or NG? I wanted to smell that one when I was at their show room but ran out of time.
  12. AH/RE also has one (not sure if it's new or not) called pineapple and brown sugar and I think it smells really good! Just a thought!
  13. I'm still kind of new even though I've been making tarts for almost a year but these are what sold for me last Fall and some of the new ones I have for this coming Fall/Winter. Mrs. Claus Cookies NG Pumpkin Crunch Cake-got my first bottle from Wellington and it smells great, but out of several I bought from them, it was the only strong one so I switched to NG's version. Amish Harvest-Peak. Just poured this last night and it's great! Cotton Headed Ninny Muggin-NG-haven't poured this yet but smells good OOB. Butternut Pumpkin-Lonestar-haven't poured yet Pumpkin Crunch Pie-JS-haven't poured yet Pumpkin cookie crunch-JS-haven't poured yet Candy Corn-Houston Candle Supply-haven't poured yet Mulberry-Fragrance Buddy-sold a lot of this! Bear Claws-JS but switching to ICS. I think theirs is stronger Hansel & Gretels house-CS Pumpkin Butter Brûlée-JS Trick or Treat-NG-haven't poured yet Hillbilly Homebrew-NG-haven't poured yet but changing the name! ) Hillbilly Fixins'-JS-this is really a good berry type scent. Don't let the name fool you! Country Bumpkin-NG Country Christmas-JS Banana Nut Bread-Houston Candle Supply but CS and NG have good ones too. Also Peak's is good. Sugar Cookie-Sissies from BCS-I like this one all year round! Candy Corn with Buttercream-JS haven't poured yet All Hallows Eve-BCN-haven't poured yet Toffee Apple Crunch-NG Circus Concession-Fragrance Buddy-I love this scent! It smells like a Fair to me so I think I am going to rename it County Fair Chestnuts & Brown Sugar-JS-wonderful scent! I think it's a little stronger from another company but can't think of which one right now. Maybe AH or NG. Jingle Bells-JS Pumpkin Caramel Cake-JS-haven't poured it yet but it smells good Cranberry Orange Spice-ICS-smells great OOB Cinnamon Buns-ICS Caramel Nut Cluster-ICS Cranberry Pomegranate-JS Pumpkin & Pralines-ICS Christmas Kitchen-ICS Holiday Homecoming-ICS Caramel Kettle Corn-ICS I have more but that's all I can think of off the top of my head but I'm sure others will respond too! I have more Fall/Winter type scents because that's my favorite time of year and I love bakery/spicy type scents. It's hard for me to switch to spring/summer stuff! My personal favorites of the ones listed above would probably be Bear Claws, banana nut bread,Caramel Nut Cluster and Mrs. Claus cookies. Sorry I can't say that some of these are "tried and true" since some will be new for me this year, but it might give you some ideas as to some new FO's to try! HTH
  14. I just know I had a sample of sweet potatoes & brown sugar from Aztec but I can't find it! I've given quite a few to a friend that's making tarts for herself so maybe I gave it to her since I had bought a large bottle from NG. I did find a small bottle that I had bought off of ebay that smells delicious and I think it's the same exact scent that Aztec has and maybe that's why I gave mine away, DUH! Anyway, OOB, the one from the lady from ebay has just a slight sweeter smell than NG's. I could be wrong in that assessment too because I've been pouring today and my nose may not be quite right, but that's what I'm getting right now. It smells wonderful to me though and like Karen, I've had a hard time finding a good carrot cake and sweet potato pie and had thought about using this for sweet potato pie. The vendor's name is Josie's Attic if anyone wants to order a bottle from her. It really does smell good! Raven's I can send you a sample of NG's if you want to try it.
  15. I bought a bag of it and tried it and from what I can remember, I liked it. I just wanted to use all paraffin but have been recently thinking about trying it again. The search never ends! LOL!
  16. NG has their version of sweet potatoes and brown sugar but I'm not sure if it smells like Aztec's or not. I was just pouring it and thought it smelled really good! My hubby was in the room when I was pouring and didn't say anything about it except it had a cinnamon smell and it smells good. I may have a sample of Aztec's in my humongous pile of sample bottles. I'll take a look and if I find it, I'll compare the two and let you know! HTH
  17. I might have to try that blend Candybee! Maybe mixing a soy pillar wax with a pillar paraffin wax will make the tart hard enough that it won't rub off on the bag. Does soy have a stronger throw than paraffin? I've read good things and bad things about soy. Or do you get a better throw by mixing the two? I've really been wanting to use all paraffin but if soy will help with longevity and throw then I'm willing to use it too!
  18. I can't help with soy recommendations but cracklin birch smells really good for an outdoorsy scent and maybe wild wild west for a manly scent. Satin Sheets is kind of a clean smell and it's really strong. HTH
  19. Welcome Sally! I'm sure you'll enjoy this board as much as the rest us! There is tons of knowledge to learn from the people here and everyone is so helpful. I hope you enjoy your journey into this addiction! And listen to Chefmom about taking notes. I've found out the hard way that I should've been taking notes all along and now when I melt a tart that I made a few months ago, and it smells really good and strong, I always wonder what wax I used to make it! And since I've changed several times and didn't write anything down, I have absolutely no idea! LOL!
  20. I'm scheduled to do a show in October and December in Huntsville texas and I will keep my eyes out for a book of shows! Thanks!
  21. I love both of those! I don't think you'll be disappointed!
  22. I'm not sure if that stands for polypro but yes, from everything I've read polypropylene is what doesn't suck the scent out of your wax. HTH
  23. Belinda

    TCS wax..

I can't wait to hear about the results! I just poured another blend myself but haven't tested it. Please keep everyone posted about this wax! Like everyone else, I would love to find a great wax for tarts and quit spending money on trying different things. And Ravens, it's very noble of you to want to do something for a good cause! LOL!
