  1. Ravens, Thanks for the information! I will have to check out their oils. I'm glad you shared about zinc wicks. I've yet to make but one candle that seemed to be wicked right but the scent was so light (it was light in melts too) that it isn't one that I would use again. I tried to wick according to candle science's guide but wasn't having much luck there either. I'm planning to use 4630 as my container wax so I'm going to give zinc wicks a try! When you get Cajun's creme brûlée, let me know if you think it smells like the one you got from Starrville please. I would like to order some of theirs but don't want to duplicate yet another FO! LOL! Thanks again!

  3. Has anyone tried any of their other scents? How are they in strength as compared to other suppliers? I've been to their website several times but never actually ordered anything. I don't see much about them on here. Thanks!
  4. You're welcome! Is their Christmas memories good? I may need to order some of that one! Let me know what you think about their creme brûlée and whether you like it better than Starville's or Starville's is better.
  5. I absolutely love Cajun's creme brûlée! It smells different to me than any I've tried. I would be glad to send you a sample! Just pm me your address.
  6. Please let us know how you like it! I'm always looking for a great CB. I love Cajuns! I was on Starrvilles website a couple of days ago and almost ordered some of their CB. I live in Texas but not close enough to them to drive over there without making a whole day of it!
  7. I've read where JS's Blonde moment smells like sweet tarts. That might be close to smarties.
  8. I bought some of it and poured it. I'm like you, I don't care much for it either but I think here in Texas it'll be popular! I can smell a leather undertone to it.
  9. I saw where JS has some new oils and the powdered sugar one says it's back by popular demand. It sounds really good and I just wondered if anyone ever used it. Thanks!
  10. I'm glad they are letting users post reviews too. It really helps when it comes to choosing which FO you want to try. I always read the reviews on NG's website. Helps me a lot!
  11. The Pirate blend you have sounds intriguing. I may have to try that one since the school I work at has a pirate for our mascot! Haven't thought about mixing leather with more than one scent either. I'll have to try that and see how it goes. I took a basket full of new clamshells to a private school last week. The parents were asking for some "new" scents but guess what they want....you guessed it, leather!
  12. ChandlerWicks, IMO Texas Candle Supply or Lonestar has the best leather. I bought my first bottle from Texas Candle supply and compared to all the other bottles I've bought and samples I've bought from other companies, his is the best and strongest. I just bought a bottle from Lonestar yesterday (got to go to their showroom) and if my nose serves me right, it's the same as the one from Texas Candle Supply. I bought a bottle from TCS and my husband liked it, but I still prefer the other. That's just my opinion but I would go with Lonestar or Texas.
  13. I've never smelled sunwashed linen. Is it close to just plain linen? I have sample bottle of linen (I think) that I would send to you. Also, I searched on ebay and there's a sunwashed linen type that's $4.99 for 1 ounce, plus shipping which I think was $3.77. HTH
  14. I was so excited about being there but I couldn't get to all of them ( We got caught in traffic, road construction, etc. or we would've been there at least an hour before they closed, but I was glad I got to run in and sniff what I did. Probably a good thing I didn't get any more time sniffing! LOL!
  15. Texas Candle Supply has one called Chaps and it's described as a blend of leather with fruits and berries. I've been thinking about getting some more from him. What I've bought from him was strong, I just haven't bought that many. He doesn't have a store front but I'm only about 20 minutes from him.
  16. I mix JS cherry bomb and leather about 50/50. The strawberry is about the same. I can't tell you how crazy the girls I work with went over the cherry and leather mix! I was pretty surprised. I like the scent but that's not what I want burning in my house! I've bought leather from three companies and a few samples from others. The first leather I bought was from Texas Candle supply. Then I ordered from TCS but I didn't like theirs as much. Today I went to Lonestar's showroom for a few minutes and bought a bottle from them. I think theirs is the same as Texas Candle Supply. So far, it's the best I've smelled IMO.
  17. For Blazing saddles I would mix leather with red hot cinnamon maybe? I live in Texas so leather is a big seller for me. I mix it with cherry and call it cowgirl kisses and also vanilla and call it cowgirl lace. I've also mixed leather with strawberry and called it cowgirl candy. I'm thinking about something for cowgirl bling. Big Country-maybe leather and some kind of woodsy scent? Leather and Lace-leather and lavender maybe? Or leather and lilac? Something real feminine. I'm not really good with blend ideas. )
  18. A friend of mine and I are in Dallas for an appliqué/embroidery convention (her hubby didn't want her to come alone) and we stopped in Keller, Texas and I got to go to Lonestar's showroom. We got there about 15 minutes before they closed but the people were so nice and let me sniff anyway. They seemed to be in no rush for me to hurry, but I knew they wanted to get home so I sniffed as many FO's as I could and let them leave. They were so nice! I wish I had time to smell and write down my thoughts but I was too late getting there for that. Oh well, maybe another time. I just wanted to say how nice they all were. I did buy 3 FO's. Leather, Amber vanilla and Christmas hearth.
  19. Good for you Darbia! I've been thinking about taking a class for that also.
  20. I agree! I never knew they existed until Karen sent me some of hers. I could tell they were sturdier and thicker and they look better. I melted a ton of the solo cups when I used those. That's why I quit using them. I'm thinking of getting some of the Ellipso cups to go along with clamshells and molded tarts.
  21. I was so new to everything last Fall but these are what I had that people liked. Pumpkin crunch cake-Wellington (this was the first place I ordered from. Wouldn't recommend them but this oil was one of the few I got that was good) Mulberry-Fragrance buddy-I know this is supposed to be a Christmas scent but people around here order it in the summer too! Country Bumpkin-NG Frosted Pumpkin-NG Chestnuts and brown sugar-JS Sugar Cookie-BCS Lord willing, this Fall I'll have more experience and more and better FO's! I've ordered several new ones for Fall so far and they smell good OOB. Pumpkin crunch cake-NG Pumpkin Cookie crunch-JS Pumpkin Crunch Pie-JS Pumpkin Butter Brûlée-Connie's Candles Spiced pumpkin-NG Oatmeal cookie with icing-JS (Is this a Fall fragrance?) 23. This a dumb question and shows my whole lack of craft show knowledge (which I hope one day changes), but what are credit card sheets and where do you get them? I've only done a few small town craft shows and two of those were about fifteen years ago. Cash or check was the only way I've taken money. I actually did buy one of the little credit card squares to go on my cell phone for when/if I ever do branch out, but have never used it. Thanks for the info and sorry to take over the original question.
  24. I've made little shaped tarts and put them in glass mason jars and decorated with a black lid and homespun material and made a brown kraft label for the front. They made really cute gifts at Christmas. I love the ease of clamshells but also love the look of cookie shaped tarts in a brown paper bag.
  25. I have the same pot and like Karen, I use a ladle. I melt a pot full of wax and ladle out what I need into glass measuring cups and then add dye and FO.
